There is apparently a tradition of making fixed blade hunting knives like this in Crete, using the horn of a Kri-Kri aka the Cretan Ibex, a type of wild mountain goat.
Your sense of humor is super funny and adorable, you made me snicker several times in this video, and a well done restoration to boot! Great job, keep it up!

Very cute....witch knife....lol. using horn is common in the America's. Looks like an old hunting knife attached to a horn handle is all. Nice restoration by the way. A pleasure to watch.

Given the condition of the blade, awesome job. I think that may have been goat horn. Might have to look up the history of those type knives, simply fascinating.
First, I like that you didn't grind / polish all the pitting out of the blade. It gives it character . Second....... where did you find liquid iodine ? You can't buy it here , as it is a major component of a pressure sensitive explosive.
Where the heck did you get that thing. It's creepy and I love it 😂 I'm sure you're the expert but it almost seems that this would have been more valuable just leaving it as is??

Nice! But not to take away from your work but I really enjoyed the slight sound of the thunderstorm in the background! It sounds beautiful and was very relaxing.
Хорошая реставрация ножа, Вы отлично потрудились. Но создатель этого ножа явно схалтурничал. На мой взгляд грубоватая работа. Как будто на коленке его делали.
Well, depending on where it was found and the owners there's bound to be a good history. The horn seems like it came from a kudu or taiga. Given the bronze/brass guard being rather rustic, it appears to be a homemade blade using simple blacksmithing and foundry wirk. Still beautiful though.
The Impala's horns do not curve this abruptly and to quite large...16 to 24 inches in length on average. It must be of any other 25 or so smaller antelopes; my guess is it is of a springbok or a Thompson gazzelle from the African continent. If the knife is made in the Indian subcontinent, then for sure this horn is of Chinkara antelope.
I like the knife. I know it is what it is and without reforging there isnt much you can do about the extreme pitting.. but you did an excellent job saving it in spite of the pitting!
I will add my vote for the Cretan ibex, kri-kri, as the source of the horn. I'm a zoologist, and keep a flock of horned Icelandic sheep- and looking at the horn before finding the comment thought "well ibex - but I've never seen one that small." But, the female kri-kri is much smaller than the male, which has enormous horns like other ibex. "They" have decided, apparently, that the kri-kri is a feral version of domestic goats brought to Crete - by the Minoans, some 8,000 years ago or so. So. Quite a knife!!
@@ITBR_Restoration Many thanks! And brace yourself; it's about to get way more detailed! After writing that comment it occurred to me I know an expert source; a friend who is deeply familiar with both Wicca and Druidism; in both practical and academic fashion. She identified the knife immediately as an "Athame", the major ritual knife used by both Wiccans and far, far more anciently by Druids. No question in her mind. Now, understand the Athame was rarely used to cut anything; it was used to attract "magic", to attract power. I asked about the horn handle, and she told me instantly - far more common in Druid tradition; Wiccans tend to use black wood for handles; the horn being a specific reference and possibly a call to "The Horned God".. The form of the blade is reminiscent of another Wiccan/Druid knife, the "Boline", which was used for cutting - herbs. There's a good primer on modern versions of these knives at sacredmists.com/athame-boline/ As for the Cretan contribution- "Sure; could be." Many ways that could have happened. I think there is story here- more likely, many stories. Does anyone remember? Very few Druids will talk to outsiders these days- they remember the burnings too well. But they remember- it's what they were trained to do. :-) Should you be afraid of it? No. It's a tool; no magic of its own.
У меня слезы на глаза навернулись, глядя на ваш провод анода... Можно я вам клемму обжимную под болт пришлю по почте пришлю?) Их еще наконечниками кольцевыми называют)
