Great recap DB! Maybe you can address in more detail in a future video what the Steelers need to do to help maximize TJ’s effectiveness. It seems like the double/triple teams and chips over the last few weeks have reduced his impact. Is the solution just moving him to the right side more or are there other things they can do? I noticed he was lined up in the A gap for one play vs the Browns.
Short yardage situations have been tough, especially for a team that likes to take its time on offense. Need some ‘easy buttons’ as you’d put it. Hopefully not including more designed plays for Cordarelle Patterson mann😂
I commented this in yesterdays video. "This has all the criteria of a Typical Tomlin Trap game. Prove me wrong Mr First Round Bounce." Back during the bye week as we looked at this gauntlet of 3 games in 11 days we/I would be happy to win 2 and lose 1. I really hate losing to the clowns moreso than the Bengals or Ravens. But we are still set up well to win the North and that's what is important.
This is what 2 games in 4 days looks like. The Steelers still had a chance to close out the game with 4mins left. This was a perfect storm for the Browns. I like the Steelers chances moving forward.
Bro tomlin collapses every year at this time. I have zero faith. Joe burrow is going to COOK this sorry ass defense alive and I guarentee we make their shit defense look good. 40-10 victory for the bengals.
I am finally able to watch a recap after this loss. I havnt made any excuses for this team. Just needed some time 😊 I do like how we can push the ball down the field. Just things to clean up at this point. Yeah Garrett whopped that butt.
It feels like we’re so married to the run to the point of stubbornness. I get that success running opens the passing game but if we aren’t having success running and our passing is producing more I wish we’d notice quicker and be willing to flip the mindset to successful passing might unlock our run game in certain instances. Teams know our style from the jump so we need to be dynamic. This gave me Matt Canada predictability vibes….That said, I know nothing. Alarms aren’t sounding yet. If we don’t bounce back against the Bengals after 10 day rest then I’ll shed a tear.
If Ds don’t respect the passing game (including middle of the field) they just stack the box and nowhere to run especially with this inconsistent Oline. Everyone knows we’re running on first 2 downs with the occasional moon ball down the sideline. This is too reminiscent of 🤡🇨🇦💩
Offensive scheme favoring the run so heavily really killed us in this one. Like you said, the run can open up the pass, but the pass can also open up the run by spreading out the defense. Really frustrating that we're so slow to take what the D gives us and run-run-pass-punt until the other team has the lead and we HAVE to pass more.
Not stressed about this loss. When you’re talking all 3 phases including the coaching being issue - it just lands in the “rushed” category. It’s like anything else. You can’t expect much quality in a hasty product. I do think there’s some broken record things that need addressed by the staff with some actual sincerity. I’m not in the room but the slow starts, the head scratching calls, getting out of identity in key moments, and stars being quiet on defense needs to be a talking point for the Steelers staff
You can give up on anybody being truly critical of Russ. That 3rd down pass from Fields to Pickens was money, but Pickens completely failed to hold up his end of the bargain.
This game was ALL about the O line. Russ was constantly pressured and they could NEVER get a push on those third and 4th @ ones. Also, why didn’t they blitz that statue? They got no pressure on Winston
It’s weird how we were using Warren as the bruiser back and Najee as the outside zone back. Completely played to their weaknesses im disappointed in our run game scheme especially with the opportunities for outside runs with Warren
I feel like this game was one where the coaching staff was just experimenting with things as compared to actually trying to win. That is the only way I can make sense of the some of the calls they were making.
I had a feeling this would be a tough game. Ultimately I’m not too concerned about the team going forward. The redzone offense needs to get better first sure, but I still like what I’m seeing from this team. Onto Cincy! And go Chargers!
I honestly am interested in your thoughts and the film of Donte Jackson up to this point.. from the stats IMO he is having a career year.. career low in completion % given up and Passer rating.. tied for 2nd most INTs and his career high.. and he is leading in new stat I saw from PFF called Adjusted passer Rating when targeted.. I know he isnt our beat Corner, but is he still having an All Pro Caliber season? It feels like he is
Our O-line and secondary suck! Burrow is going to run the scoreboard up so high that Boz can’t kick that many field goals….. We better change something before the Bengals….if not, we will lose that game as well.
Where are expectations for the oline? Last year the bye seemed to gel them+Mason. I realize injuries have been rough, but my expectations are rising and this is just not it at all.
2nd comment - this was the ugliest loss I can think of since 49ers last regular season week 1. Just blistering self wounds that seemed leave us like the Black Knight in Monty Python or Mufasa dangling off the ledge.
bs game in every aspect... our pass rush has been extremely underwhelming since the start of the season, more so with all the expectations that we had going into this one. the amount of "almost sacks" we had combined this week and the previous one, just blows my mind. At least in the ravens game it felt like we did put lamar under pressure quite a bit, despite not getting home much, but this game was just utterly embarassing. Also, I feel like TJ a lot got more 1-on-1 opportunities this game than he usually does, but just didn't capitalize in any of them. This is just an eye test from watching the game, so maybe you can fact check that with actual stats. Just a disappointing and frustrating performance man... Don't get me started on these refs, man... Tell it to me straight, DB. Am I being delusional? How are the refs not calling PI against GP? The go route against 23 near the end of first half seems insane to me and the hail mary just looks like something that should not be allowed, but I'm not an expert.
Badly coached game. Predictable offense based on down and distance. Art has a personnel usage issue that ATL fans warned about. Russ is holding the ball way too long, getting sacked at pivotal times. Wrs except GP dont work with Russ on scrambles. JPJ is getting cooked almost weekly. Tomlin needs to apologize to everyone especially TJ. His game management and putting his best players in position to win was garbage.
if they called the intentional grounding (which it was) instead of illegal touching, it would have been fourth and 12 to go, we would won the game, that was a terrible call in the worst time of the game.
For all of the negative reactions by the steelers fanbase in the aftermath of the browns game, if bishop catches the interception late in the game the steelers win. The coaches did their jobs (early Oline struggles vs Garrett notwithstanding) players just didn't quite do their things well enough.
Embarrassing loss and embarrassing performance. Thsi run for 1 yard on 1st down and run for 1 yard on 2nd down and 3rd and longs are getting hella old. Arthur Smith has no fn imagination, unless its bad imagination like putting Patterson out there for the 2 point conversion 🤣🤣
redzone play calling is suspect. taking the ball out of russ' hands late in the game for 3 consecutive plays when he just scored the go ahead touchdown. I thought he was on point and making quick decisions this wasn't a game were he held onto the ball a long time.
Not sure who to blame when we only needed a first down to close out game and Russ was on the sidelines.arthur probably had total control on the calls but can't believe Tomlin couldn't interjact his opinion.because no way fields should be in there.

That's good perspective, kinda the same going into the bye- rather happy to be 6-2 even if the losses were ugly.

Browns had a short week too….. our O-line and secondary suck. Burrow is going to feast if we don’t do something different.
Bro tomlin collapses every year at this time. I have zero faith. Joe burrow is going to COOK this sorry ass defense alive and I guarentee we make their shit defense look good. 40-10 victory for the bengals.

I always hated Thursday night games & this is why

@@theresa6837Yep, the offense has nothing to fall back on without that. Part of that’s scheme, but also personnel.
Well hate to break it to you but joe burrow is cooking this mid defense alive.

@@xmarx360Exactly. The Matt Canada formula smh
O line got dominated, and pass rush stayed in Pittsburgh. Disappointing, but not surprising

I know Justin took sacks but russ is taking sacks on crucial 3rd down plays
You can give up on anybody being truly critical of Russ. That 3rd down pass from Fields to Pickens was money, but Pickens completely failed to hold up his end of the bargain.

Do you think in some situations playing Heyward at TE is hurting the team due to the fact he's too small... blocking

We never use the middle of the field enough. Coaching staff use your damn TE & check down RB
Because Wilson is too short…..he can’t see over the linemen.

After crunching the analytics over a hundred times the hypothesis is an adjusted score of Steelers 27 💩💩3.
