This woman should be a role model for other doctors in other fields, along with people like Jason Fung and others. Way too many docs and researchers can't think outside the box and just perpetuate wrong ideas instead of solving problems

I think most doctors care about most of their patients but BELIEVE that chronic diseases CANNOT be fixed. That is unfortunately the whole philosophy of modern medicine. I haven’t fixed my list of issues but I do believe.

My husband suffered sleep apnea for years. He finally got a CAC score/angiogram, which showed medium blockage of his arteries. I went into search mode, for a way to help him and came upon the ketogenic diet. I joined with him in this, as support and by the end of three months we both had marked improvements in our blood cholesterol In the doctors exact words... "what ever you're doing, keep doing it!" He has since lost over 10kg in weight and he has reduced his snoring volume by heaps (thank goodness... I used to have to leave the room due to it!) and he no longer stops breathing in his sleep. Conclusion: Insulin resistance is the cause of sleep apnea, weight gain and heart disease.

When I was in the hospital for 4 days in November 2018 for lumbar fusion surgery (spine), the nurses kept freaking out when I'd be in rem sleep, my breathing got so shallow that they thought I wasn't breathing and kept coming to my bedside and checking to make sure I had the oxygen tube attached and working on my nose. Even my brother was there at a time when I was sleeping and he thought I had stopped breathing. I've always been a very light sleeper and I've never been to a sleep clinic. I was surprised that my brother and the nurses were telling me that, but it helped me understand a bit more why I don't get enough sleep. Lack of deep sleep, high inflammation and high stress are making my recovery from my spinal surgery extremely slow. Anyone else having this same problem?

Lovely information, having had two major cancers led me to believe that improving my gut flora was paramount, this was 8 years ago. I use home made raw milk kefir and sauerkrauts as my probiotics/daily diet, and since already doing coffee enemas daily for liver cleaning, I then add small amounts of this juice to enema water, then directly into colon bypassing gastric juices. Cancers have not returned, no autoimmune diseases and approaching 80! Heal the gut cheaply = lentil bone broth veggie soups sunshine and zero sugar ~~

After my heart bypass surgery I have not been able to sleep all night since my surgery. No problem going to sleep but I would sleep for about 3 hrs and be wide awake. I complained to several Dr.'s and none of them seemed interested in helping me. After 5.5 yrs, I have finally figured it out. It was a drug I was taking before bedtime. A side effect from sertraline. I quit taking that drug and now I sleep all night.

I have yet to meet ANY Dr who has ANY knowledge about my sleep disorder, and I am going to write a book about my life battling this sleep disorder and how it has affected my life. I have several ideas about the possible cause of it, but have yet to find a cure for it. I have a few very specific questions to ask you, and your videos and knowledge are simply incredible..there is not another Dr anywhere that has your knowledge!!! THANK YOU for all of your research and I hope I am able to get in touch with u directly. You are God sent!!!

One question: Stasha mentions changing the dose of pantothenic acid by 5mg at a time. All the supplements of pantothenic acid I've come across are anywhere from 100 to 500mg per dose. How do you get a supplement as small as 5mg per dose? The supplement vendors just say you will pee out any excess. This goes against what's stated in this video. She must have special access to pantothenic acid supplements unavailable to the average Joe.

I took a micronutrient test from a company in Texas. It showed I was deficient in b5, b2, vit D, and b6 while borderline deficient in a few others. They recommended I supplement with 1000mg of b5 b.I.d. My sleep is not great but much better. Apparently, we all need different amounts. If you gave a stressful life your b5 gets used up significantly. I’m gonna retest in a few months to see if things have improved. Everyone needs to get a test before supplementing.

    • @leebarnes655

You heard her wrong, it's the pantothenic acid (the first B vitamin that she worked with) that must be in a narrow range especially after the gut begins to heal itself. She started with 400mg and had anxiety when trying to sleep, so way too much. She switches to a multiple B vitamin with a lower dosage of B5 only to learn that sometimes it's actually coenzyme A and they just call it B5 (pantothenic acid). So one example given in a fixed gut person was 65mg of B5. 5mg more than that and they don't REM, 5mg too low and they also don't REM. Obviously they have moved away from a multiple B vitamin and using 10mg B5 tablets alone and cutting them in half to fine tune the dose to what they need. Vit D isn't so picky, if you are above 50ng/ml that's a good place to be. 15,000 IU to 20,000 IU daily will get you there or better. I'm taking 20,000 IU daily but haven't gotten tested because it costs $70 and that kind of money will buy a lot of Vit D.

First 3 months she suggests taking larges doses of D and B, 5000 UI D might not be enough. What are the big doses of Bs?
After the 3 months start tweaking.
70 mg b complex seems to be a happy spot as she describes.
41:17 is a helpful list to read.
She suggests using multivitemin with all the Bs, Since if you are defi in 1 B you are most likely defi in others. Find multivit with lower doses of B, like 5 mg panth acid.

60-80 is ideal for D OH 25. Once sleep is deep and Vit D levels are stable, B vitamins may be needed as building blocks for repair (deep sleep induces repair mechanisms). Think B complex, low dose, titrate up if symptoms don't improve. You should get fairly quick feedback from B Vit doses due to water solubility

The problem and this is born out by comments made here, we look for the medical community to solve problems of all kinds, sleep is just one of them; the solution is lifestyle in most instances. Eating right is the most important thing since everything in food is present is the right quantities to promote good health in general and sleep in particular. The problem is we eat and live poorly and then look to supplementation with vitamins throwing off vitamins and minerals balance in the body, causing even more problems. Are there things non-diet related we can do, yes, but most of the problem is what we eat and how we live? Supplement with Vitamin D, yes, take melatonin a couple of times a week, eat lightly after sunset, cut back on caffeine, do not read or watch TV an hour before bedtime and make sure the room is completely dark when preparing for sleep, most people will sleep. If you wake up in any pain of any sort, regardless of severity, you have a sleep related issue, the body repairs itself in sleep.
