    Went to use my riding mower and trailer to haul dirt but the mower wouldn't start. I started to dig the new area for herb beds; moving dirt away shovel by shovel. I went to toss dirt and BOOM, I found an antler shed next to the new herb area. I was in awe this 'sign' of fertility was shown/given to me at my feet. I have NEVER found an antler shed on my property and certainly never thought one would be found that close to the house. Then after, while putting tools away, the mower started instantly. If I had used the trailer I would have never found that shed; that sign of fertility. The gods are there. Recognize them as gods, be reciprocal with them, and they will speak to you and guide you.

    This video really should be a "step one" for those finding their way into Germanic paganism. While the scholarly research is a crucial and necessary part of the overall understanding of these old ways, many scholars are dismissive and smug in their ivory tower perspective of them ( for example, Jackson Crawford, who has many great works, once disdainfully referred to "gurus" as illegitimate when understanding runic lore ). If one studies the old ways, without embracing animism, then regardless of your formal education, you will not be able to truly understand Germanic paganism nor relate to the Gods. Thanks for yet another enlightening video.

    • @torstenscott7571
      @torstenscott7571 2 роки тому +6

      @Blanc Neige I agree, although I understand that there is a necessary component as to how the quality of research is dependent upon peer reviewed and scholarly sources ( an agreed standard for scholars ), they often disregard personal gnosis or even speculation by those not belonging to their respective ivory towers. For those of us who have had recent and direct experiences with many manifestations of the old ways, we know that this is a living and breathing practice, one that is ongoing and one that cannot be fully understood from the writings in dusty tomes. I came to Germanic paganism blind, looking for explanations to my personal experiences, not as a larper or follower of a fad. I have found startling explanations as to my experiences only through the lenses of the old ways of my ancestors, and no where else. Truly a lifelong journey that will require the left brained study of written knowledge, coupled with the right brained experiences of the mystic, and I enjoy it all.

      Yes I get what you mean about Crawford, he has a lot of great information but he reads it like it were to be taken at face value like reading game of thrones. He skips over all the depth and meanings behind the stories, the very reasons that the stories had been passed down through generations with great care, as spiritual things should be. The stories were the easiest way to include/intrest everyone young and old though the deeper meanings were better understood by the wise teachers and elders. This has been a issue for as long as non pagans have been the "authorities" and writers on the subject, someone who has been raised christian still practicing or not are going to miss a lot as well as project their own beliefs when trying to understand the subject or translate something. This is very hard to avoid, but it has in a few cases managed to do some hidden good; like when Snorri inserts lies into his writings to change and christianize Norse mythology, but he missed some important symbolism because his christian beliefs stopped him from seeing what was right in front of him. Thus leaving us bread crumbs to follow, a bit of a silver lining after what was done. We have a lot of work ahead of us, removing all the lies, mistranslations, finding the scattered pieces of wisdom that are still hiding within old family stories and local tales, and hopefully new scientific discoveries, then making sense of it all. I wish we didn't have all these new age crazies running around making insane claims that make us all look nuts when those are the people who are seen and heard the most by the general public.
      I have to admit that I really cannot stand seeing so many self proclaimed "pagans" that want to have a bible of paganism, so someone is telling them what to do and not do, what and how to think, and how to get on their knees and pray to their new God Odin...😑 It's like they are just christians that replace their god with Odin and think that everyone goes to Valhalla when they die, and they will sit by their god and feast until the end times... These and the wicca turds are the types that have driven me to be a lone pagan, that super larpy and ignorant crap drives me nuts (rather it makes me realize how nuts that they are, and I should back away slowly.. 😆).

      It's an interesting thought that possibly elders with bad cases of this could have found a useful place in their community as they could sense these storm fronts before others could, this could have easily been interpreted as a sort of gift from or connection to weather related sprits and gods.

    Back in Ancient Khem (Egypt), the peoples didn't refer to their GODS and GODDESSES, as GODS and GODDESSES, they referred to them as 'the NETERU' (collectively), and as a 'NETER' (singularly), the definition of which being 'FORCE/S OF NATURE'. This is also the TRUE etymological root (despite being at odds with the official Latin version of NURTURE that is given), of the English word NATURE. ... The same rule/principle applies to ANY/ALL GODS from within any Ancient Animist Paganism from anywhere in the world. ... The GODS and GODDESSES of ALL/ANY Paganisms ARE anthropomorphised representations of the FORCES OF NATURE. ... Great video you made here. A great UA-cam channel you have created.

      Dont bother coming back, give it 50-100 years and threr wont be anything about Norway that has anything to do with the native population.
      We are only 30 years behind Sweden when it comes to having multiculturalism continually forced on us by our political and cultural Elites.
      They hate themselvs and hate their own kith and kin and country, a country that was given to us by our forebearers.
      And if you think about disagreeing they will brand you a most vile and ugly person. They will brand you a racist for wanting a country for our own people and will work both in private and in public to alienate you from society. For any who disagree or who is critical of their agenda is shut down and ostracised.
      After all, acording to these same people, Norway, no, all of europe has allways been "multicultural" and so to speak it, is to speak the most vile of evils according to them.

    You are absolutely right sir about the spirits of the gods manifesting in statues. What the ancient people believed was the spirits would use the eyes of status to see, would use the right hand to take offerings and the left hand to bless or grant wishes and the legs to stand. When Islamic invaders attacked these temples they would destroy the faces of those statues, break their hands and legs to stop people from worshiping these deities.

I find possible that the Æsir may represent human virtues (Þórr-Strength, Týr-Justice, Frigg-Secrecy, Óðinn-Wisdom/Frenzy) and the Vanir may represent nature (Yngvi Freyr-Fertility, Njórðr-Sea/Wind, Freya-Magic in general). It's also very interesting how they give human virtues to natural aspects and viceversa (Freyr-Masculinity, Þórr-Thunder ecc.).I think this interpretation might be interesting to think about.

    I believe that it is very difficult to limit, or rather, delimit any deity, divinity or ancient belief (it is easier with modern beliefs). Your way of seeing paganism is very similar to Therevada Buddhism, even to Joseph Campbell's shamanism and its comparative mythology. It is very "ad hoc" with the cosmology of the 21st century and the new spiritual trends that are more pantheistic than pagan, but I don't think it was like that with the ancients, or at least in most cases. Even in institutionalized religions, with documents close to their formation that explain how it developed from the beginning (paganism was never founded like those religions, it always existed) it is difficult to limit belief to only one way, in paganism much more; For example, the worldview of Theravada Buddhism (almost atheistic) is very different from the doctrine of Mahayana Buddhism, or Vajrayana... Or in Christianity, some use images and Saints (minor Deities to put it in some way) and others believe that this is idolatry, others believe that only God the Father is God, others believe that all three are Gods, and others, the majority, believe that all are one God but in three different persons (The Holy Trinity). And not to mention the three Great Abrahamic religions that believe in the same God but understand it differently. Personally, I believe in a more versatile, less limited paganism, that is to say that I do believe that there are mythological events that are the way of expressing natural events as a fable, however, I also believe that there are supernatural events. I also believe that the deities are individual beings, each one with their own energy, but that they can interact with the Human Being, that is why the interpretations of them in so many pagan cultures. If today the World had a collapse, and humanity went backwards in global advance until it was almost extinct, and some documents were found about the attack on the Twin Towers, the use of electrical or Nuclear energy, flights outside the Earth, even airplane trips Perhaps they would also think that they are metaphorical representations of natural events and would be considered myths, simply because they would not understand it. Some theories are speculation and far fetched, but being that the God's are often manifested through natural forces, some would make sense as an earlier understanding of scientific laws ( expressed in mythology of course ).
