The overhead storage on the left side for first class is only for a purse or lunch bag

I guess this is what replaced the old McDonald Douglass DC-9s that Delta eliminated twice (once on its own, once after the Northwest merger) and the 717s it bought from the Airtan/Southwest acquisition when Southwest sold Delta its fleet of 717s. I will find out what this type of plane is really like when I fly it to Toronto, CA from LGA this week.

While the CRJ's rear fuselage mounted engines and T-tail are similar in concept to the original Douglas DC-9, from a range, weight, capacity, and transport class standpoint - they are vastly different aircraft. The DC-9/MD-88/MD-90/Boeing 717 served in the _Delta Airlines_ mainline fleet, while the various CRJ models have always been operated by Delta regional affiliates like _Endeavor Air._ A number of CRJs were being operated by Delta regional affiliates well before the _Northwest Airlines_ acquisition.

@@oubrioko I was not implying they were the same design of airplane. I was commenting on the size (number of passengers) they carry. They mechanically are completely different as you state, and yes, the former were Delta aircraft while these are now Delta Connection aircraft (which part of which is also owned by Delta now in the ownership structure).

Btw, the airline that merged with with Southwest Airlines was called AirTran Airways(1993-2014).

@@m.hstudioproductions6642 correct. Why I wrote AirTran/Southwest because AirTran bought the planes, Southwest bought AirTran, and then sold the plants to Delta.

Kinda delta was allowed to by 70 more of these and the e175's because the bought the 717 under the pilot scope clause in 2012

These fly into Des Moines from MSP at least 3 times a day. I bet you I've worked on that exact aircraft before.
