- Line's upper part - Extra long non-stop movie up to the high station 2132 m thanks to the very friendly engineer - 48%, the world's steepest cogwheel railway, steam service from June 4th, 1889 until electrification in 1937 - Original 1937 40 passengers electric motor coach, 800 mm rail gauge, Locher rack system specially set out for this oversize gradient
Wow! It gives a whole new meaning to the words of that old song, "She'll be coming round the mountain..."!
Years ago I went up there. It was breathtaking. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Awesome line and video too. Thank You Sir 👍👍😊😊
Mamma mia, I'm afraid of heights, scary to even watch the video! Insane work with machinists and technicians who serve the track!
This Is absolutely beautiful. I was in that partof of the world back in 1973 but unfortunately never got to ride any of the cog railways. Thanks for the great video. It reminds me of what I missed.
Oh, to be able to take such a beautiful trip.
And I'll bet their safety record is perfect.
.
Absolutely brilliant. Last year I went there. It's really nice experience and you can get off the mountain from other side through cable car.
Driving that train looks like a job you'd never get tired of!
Amazing video. What scenery and I envy the engineer for his job. Hope someday soon to enjoy this experience
Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful video with us all. So much appreciated.
Wonderful video! When we went up there many years ago my son asked "Why does he need a steering wheel?" He's an aerospace engineer now, working in Zürich. Thanks for the share.

It is throttle.
I remember going with the Cogwheel train, it was marvelous and amazing
The Mac and cheese at the top was excellent! ( and expensive)
Great view once you finish the trip up the steps.
Fabulous video! This is the first I've heard of this remarkable cog railway.
We have taken this train ride last year, it was fantastic both up and down.A great feeling to be that close to the mountain side.
It’s crazy that someone built that track.
2.36 horrible
Hats off to the planners and executors of the project.
Very thrilling
WHAT A GREAT .SPECTACULAR.AND DANGEROUS RAILWAY TRACK .HATS OFF TO THESE .ENGINEERS.WHO DESIGHN THIS ..
This is different than the Mt. Washington cog railway.... (Though the winter weather's no worse.) Spectacular! Hope to ride this some day.
Definitely, shooting an video is not just an art but needs creativity too!
Thrilling journey and awesome construction
Hats off to engineers and workers
But what about loco pilot
Amazing, added to bucket list.
That was incredible....thanks for posting.

Fantastic video- Thanks!!
don't forget, these rails are more than 100years old. And it still works. Nowadays they built rails and they break after a few years.
great video!!

Michael, did I put this youtube in messages? I don’t remember-getting very old. Have less hair and it’s light gold blond, on purpose. You are still very handsome. And I’m proud of you!
OMG!!! Even with name, I wouldn’t want to go up there!!!!!..........thank you. Yes, it’s Switzerland!!!!!
Excellent video. This perspective makes all the difference : )
Hello, 100% true my friend.
And I do publish only high quality videos .-)
nice video
Excellent place and super video
Nice. Reminded me of my trip on that line in 1967; photographic technology has moved on a bit since then!

Спасибо за интересную.экскурсию, в некоторых местах прям страшно
WOW!!!! TO SAY Impressive understatement. I never seen anything like this before and I need to go to Switzerland.
Yeah, do it! Lucerne is a very nice city with a lot of beautiful monuments, like the Kappellbrücke, a 665 ft. long covered wooden bridge over the river Reuss that was built in 1333 (world's oldest surviving truss-bridge) or the Bourbaki-Panorama, a 360° panoramic painting (367 ft circumference and 33 ft high) painted in 1881, depicting the defeated french army under General Bourbaki crossing the swiss borders, getting disarmed by the swiss army and getting food and medical care from the swiss people or you can book a boat trip on Lake Lucerne with one of the historical paddle steamers. Also: Chocolate! ;-)

Woah, I'd be too scared to go on that, so steep lol. At lot different to our trains here in Australia :-) very impressive though :)

Kayla Rose I liked the train ride in Tasmania better - more romantic. Only the view at the end of the line is nicer in Switzerland.

So exciting !
The designers looked at this challenge and said, "Why not?"

In 1889, when it was built?
Looks like Lucern, Swiss everyone. Saw a sign back there. What is the steering wheel for.
Hand brake
Whoa! My butt was grabbing onto my chair just watching this!
Don't forget the handbrake.
Yersssss way back 1984 I had travelled to the top on Mt Pilatus and stayed in the Hotel there. :D :D :D
That reflection threw me off lol
Przepiękny fragment kolei gdzie to jest i ile kosztuje przejazd takim cudem
Something like that could be combined with regular railroads to help diesel locomotives get up inclines
Awesome! Words fail me!
Is nobody gonna acknowledge the fact that the dude with glasses at 0:45 looks almost identical to George Costanza?
Pretty cool.
And theres a HOTEL at the top! Like WOW!!!! How'd they do that????
+John Holmes They're German/Swiss - they can do anything
The railway was built for the hotel.
John...seems like sarcasm is lost on some....LOL.....

Marvel piece of Best Engineering...
When you've got a massive project like this the seems to go nowhere, it leads to the inevitable question:
What was the point?
Talk about walking the razors edge! 😦😦😦😦😦😦
