Rick Beato did a video and said he was a killer guitar player. He apparently filled in for Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple one night in Texas in 1970. Blackmore had a bad reaction to a flu shot. And somebody recommended Christopher Cross as a guy who could fill in and he did. Amazing.
@@heavenlyguitar5913 C C is My Al time favorite artist. I’ve seen him 15 times in concert and had a one on one personal meet & greet. The guys a legend and now he’s crossing into the Jazz Genre.
I'd say the audience got their money's worth right there! When I see these 70's 80's 90's acts now I always comment on just how lucky we we were to grow up and live in that Era of musical talent. What...literally dozens and dozens of bands. We had rock, pop, disco, country, motown all performed by real live performers with unreal, raw musical talent. Live shows sounded as good as recordings. No auto tune or computer generated crap. Not many from later generations could even fathom it. I listened to everything from Waylon to Ozzy to Donna Summer to 3 Dog Night, Journey, Temptations, Little River band. Soooooo grateful to have lived it. Grateful because it will never happen again sadly
Years ago when I bought David Lee Roth's Crazy from the Heat album and looked at the vocal contributors on California Girls I said "Of course, it's Cristopher Cross."
Please explain the horse with no name meaning with substance. I sat through the entire song confused and shaking my head. Guess you had to be smoking weed to appreciate or understand
L Moore, you are so very right. People think of Christopher Cross as a sappy ballad singer which is such a misconception. The guy can not only shred, but his note choice is phenomenal and his speed is dead on and exactly what the song not only asks for, it demands it. Another hero I would die to know. That is why he demanded the best on all of his ventures including the amazing Eric Johnson, as well as Michael McDonald and the vocal genius of Kenny Loggins et al. America brings back some of the best memories of my life and If I ever had a dying wish of my life, I would die happily if I could play or sing with them just one verse. But of course, that will never happen. You are hearing the best musicians ever. Put away the current crap. The music coming out today has no feeling, no purpose and no direction other than in the gutter and the ghetto. Period, end of discussion. Good folks know exactly what I mean. Thank You for reading.
I know you wrote this comment 2 years ago but to think you may never have the chance to meet them and maybe sing a tune. you never know!! stranger things have happened. I have met a few huge rock stars basically on accident. I am still in awe that I had these experiences in life. One of them was Robert Plant who showed up at a very small hotel I worked at on the coast of Washington state. no one in this town knew him and thought his body guard was Steven Seagal and were going nuts over the body guard. LOL, very nice and humble men.
It's been about 40 years, but I had Christopher Cross first album on cassette and wore it out. In my opinion, his debut album was one of the finest in history.
Crazy, just saw America and Christopher Cross weeks apart in the same theatre. Both great concerts, can’t help but wish they’d played together, having seen this.
Talented group of singers....I have been intrigued by them lately. I loved their songs growing up in the 70’s, but lately I have enjoyed their music...like more of their songs. I always loved Christopher Cross too, from the 80’s.
In the 90s a friend gave me a cd with music from the 70s, the first song on the cd was A HORSE WITH NO NAME, every time I listen to it many memories come to my mind, amazing band no doubt 👍
Wow 😮 this is amazing ! I saw America in Durban , South Africa 🇿🇦 back in 1982 or 83 , not sure ? In a small theater house on West Street .I was in the front taking it all in , i had a real good time. I grew up listening to America . All this combined with Christopher Cross what a treat ..thank you for sharing .Love from the paradise island of Mauritius 🇲🇺 😘
Christopher Cross used to play at our frat house in Austin Texas in the late 1970's for like $500 night with has cover band. He could play almost anything. It was the best 4 years of my life.
Saw America on their first tour out west in Early 70s. Memorial Auditorium’ Sacramento CA. Horse with No Name’ had just hit the charts. I’ll never forget. The stage Lights came on and there was about 20 Acoustic guitars on stands in a giant Semi circle.
Wow . Christopher Cross added the special backing vocal for America here . Cross's lead , fantastic . He is no slouch player and adds a great deminsion . Cheers 03/10/2022

This is an excellent pairing; Christopher is vocally a match for the late Dan Peek; Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell are still in good voice, and people do forget just how underrated Christopher is on lead guitar. Go grab a copy of his band's first LP, play "Ride Like the Wind" and be amazed. Cross brought his own band from Texas to make that record, over Warners' objections.
Cross's lead playing on "Ride like the Wind" is insanely great. But it is mixed pretty low on the record. If you watch him play it live he really tears into it.
I'm 64 yrs old. For more than 40 yrs I've listened to these magnificent guys. Thankyou America.😊
Christopher Cross is quite a lead player. Very nice and tasteful. Didn’t realize he played that well.
Check out his shredding on "Ride Like The Wind"!

..I would have paid for the ticket for this song alone…you are not wrong sir…
Christopher Cross is such an under rated lead guitar player. Paired with America it is an unbeatable combination.
Yeah
We sure loved him in the 80’s.
Years ago when I bought David Lee Roth's Crazy from the Heat album and looked at the vocal contributors on California Girls I said "Of course, it's Cristopher Cross."

oh yeah he can shred.
The 70’s and 80’s was truly the main turning point of how music should be.Too bad, it isn’t anymore now..☹️
Man I sure do miss the 70's classic folk rock music with real substance & meaning . Definitely true artistry in American music history.

Got that right Jose, These guys are even better than back in 75. Stay safe
Absolutely nothing like the old 70’s 😂😂 really nice meeting y’all here. I hope you don’t mind if we become friends

Realmente America tocaba mucho antes de que Christopher Cross fuese popular.... ahora en esas edades se ven contemporáneos, pero Croos fué de los 80s
