That's always the case with top watch mojo's top songs of any artist. It's always the ones with videos. Same thing wth watch mojo's book list it's always the books that have been adapted into movies.
Finally saw The Smashing Pumpkins live a few nights ago. No Darcy but everyone else was there. They've been my favorite band for about six years. My first memory of hearing a song on the radio was in the backseat of my moms camaro. She was warming up the engine cause it was winter. I remember being able to see my breathe as she turned on the radio and Disarm started playing. I was either 6 or 7 years old. Didn't really start listening to the pumpkins til I was 19. I had completely forgotten about Disarm but the moment I heard it that memory came rushing back like a feral wave. Good times.
On a side note here's my personal ten. Mind you this top ten has changed ten times over but Hummer is always my number one. 10. Daydream 9. Obscured 8. Crush 7. To Forgive 6. Mayonnaise 5. Rhinoceros 4. Cupid de Locke 3. Disarm 2. 1979 1. Hummer
My top ten 1. Thru the eyes of ruby 2. Porcelina 3. Blank page 4. Soma 5. Oceania 6. Strala 7. The aeroplane flies high 8. To forgive 9. Today 10. Rhinoceros
Damn...this list is tough. So many factors. Do you go with their ambition and well-deserved creative freedom of Mellon Collie? Do you go with their peak of songwriting and oozing mood of Adore? Do you even take a step into their psuedo-concept and saturated death gasps of Machina? As with all things, it goes with personal favorites so to fuel the conversation, here's mine: 1. Zero 2. I of The Mourning 3. For Martha 4. Here Is No Why 5. Cherub Rock 6. Stand Inside Your Love 7. The Aeroplane Flies High (Turns Left, Looks Right) 8. Tonight, Tonight 9. 1979 10. Mouths of Babes
Here is the top 10 list: 10. "Perfect" Adore (1998) 9. "Mayonaise" Siamese Dream (1993) 8. "Rhinoceros" Gish (1991) 7. "Zero" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) 6. "Cherub Rock" Siamese Dream (1993) 5. "Disarm" Siamese Dream (1993) 4. "Tonight, Tonight" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) 3. "Today" Siamese Dream (1993) 2. "1979" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) 1. "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) Honorable Mentions: "Eye" Soundtrack to the film, Lost Highway (1997) and from their greatest hits album, Rotten Albums (2001) "Landslide" Pisces Iscariot (1994) "Zero" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) "Stand Inside Your Love" Machina/The Machines of God (2000) "Ava Adore" Adore (1998) "Tarantula" Zeitgeist (2007) "Soma" Siamese Dream (1993) "Thirty-Three" Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995) I would have also included: "Rocket" Siamese Dream (1993) “Drown” Soundtrack to the 1992 Cameron Crowe film Singles

I love Bullet with Butterfly Wings and it's certainly a top 5 song, but it's not #1. Personally I would have gone 10. Perfect 9. Mayonaise 8. Tarantula 7. Zero 6. Cherub Rock 5. Today 4. Disarm 3. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 2. 1979 1. Tonight Tonight Speaking of Tonight Tonight, it's a well known fact now, but the couple in that video is Tom Kenny and his wife. Tom Kenny is most famously known as the voice of Spongebob Squarepants.
I would have put Siva in there, but your top 7 is exactly the same as mine. I know Bullet is Smashing Pumpkins unique sound. But Tonight Tonight is without a doubt their best track.
I absolutely adore "Rhinoceros" and "1979"--really love them, I've probably listened to each one 30 or 40 times-but many of SP's other songs don't get to me. Of course I'm 63 so not my generation, although I do think the '90s were the best musical decade. The actual year 1979 was a turning point in my life. I'm going to have to give "Cherub Rock" and "Mayonnaise" more serious listens.

Damn. I had forgotten how fantastic the Pumpkins were back in the day. So many powerful songs and performances. I must say that the popularity of their music benefitted greatly from the production quality of their videos. For example, 1979 along with it's music video created such strong nostalgic images that tied into the song it really increased the popularity of the song tenfold. But then again many of the Pumpkins songs went hand in hand with the videos. Corgan was and is a true musical and theatrical genius.
Mine: 10. Perfect 9. Ava Adore 8. I Am One 7. Siva 6. Bullet With Butterfly Wings 5. Mayonaise 4. 1979 3. Rhinoceros 2. Cherub Rock 1. Today Anyone agrees with mine? :)
"1979" is one of the greatest songs ever made. "Stand Inside Your Love" would be in my Top 5. It is deep and emotional. "Set the Ray to Jerry" is one of the best B-Sides I've ever heard. "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" wouldn't even make my Top 10.
drummer4916 the pumpkins have so many good songs they could probably release a boxed set spanning 5 CDs of demos, b-sides, unreleased and special live recordings ? Oh wait, isnt that the mashed potatoes boxed set! p.s. set the ray to jerry top 10 easy
I’m single now since 10 years and I fell in love with a girl that also really likes me. I cry everytime when I listen to 1979 because this Song remind me, that it was good to stay alive :). I will be 24 this year and almost died twice so I’m glad that I didn’t gave up hope ^^🖤. Never give up hope on life when you depressed ❤️🖤
This was a good list. This is probablmy top 5 from them: 5. Daphne Descends 4. Eye 3. Ava Adore 2. The Beginning is the end is the beginning 1. Mayonaise
For me I'd go with this 10. Perfect///The Celestials (tie) 9. Drown 8. 1979 7. The Everlasting Gaze 6. The Beginning is the End is the Beginning 5. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 4. Tonight, Tonight 3. Ava Adore 2. Mayonnaise 1. Cherub Rock
Personally my top 10 would be 10. Ava Adore 9. I am One 8. Drum & Fife (It's Extremely Underrated) 7. Siva 6. 1979 5. Today 4. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 3. Cherub Rock 2. Tonight Tonight 1. Mayonaise
@@jameszalitis1952 yeah... definitely an argument made with Tool, but I think SP has more of the "90s sound" that encapsulates the generation. Like "Take on Me" in the 80s lol
I'd have to go: 10.) 1979 9.) Disarm 8.) Eye 7.) Bullet with Butterfly Wings 6.) Cherub Rock 5.) Mayonnaise 4.) Hummer 3.) Tonight, Tonight 2.) Ava Adore 1.) The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
I like Bullet with Butterfly Wings but it's nowhere near their best song. Mayonaise should've been higher up the list, and Ava Adore should've been on the top 10.
Unfortunately Corgans voice is very love hate. I personally love it. But many don't. And they hit it big about 20 years too late to be considered up with Floyd since by the 90s the slow downturn of rock was inevitable with the coming of gangster cRap and Hip Hop.
my favorite is always changing. but tear, ava adore, landslide, spaceboy, stand inside your love, to sheila are always an eargasm, i dont get bored of them. But i think I am going to lift landslide as my number one favorite. it just touches my soul.
This list came in the same week as I first found Smashing Pumpkins, further igniting my passion for this band. They are now my favorite band. So thanks WatchMojo
I'm actually really upset that there was only 1 song used from the Adore album. I'm more upset nothing was picked from The Machina, or Machina II albums. Not to mention their HUGE collection of B-sides. I did not like Zeitgeist, but they were trying to put something together that had long since been broken.
LOL list. The fact such classics like Soma, Window Paine, Geek USA, Porcelena, By Starlight, Starla and Farewell and Goodnight are not even on the list and Bullet is number 1... The fail is strong in this one.
Here's my list: 20. Tear 19. Stand Inside Your Love 18. Bury Me 17. I of the Mourning 16. Set the Ray to Jerry 15. Lucky 13 14. Tristessa 13. The Everlasting Gaze 12. Here is No Why 11. Tonight, Tonight 10. Ode to No One 9. Annie Dog 8. Thru the Eyes of Ruby 7. Hummer 6. Siva 5. Geek U.S.A. 4. Hello Kitty Kat 3. The Aeroplane Flies High 2. Silverfuck 1. Soma/Starla (I can't decide between them so they win joint honors.)
Michael Donahoe While I have my own personal list, I'm with you that it's so hard to chose between "Soma" and "Starla." In my list though, it was a choice between "Starla" and "Drown" for whatever spot that was. I don't remember right now.
Poised...like an angel. Great list, but too much Adore, not enough Oceania. Bonus points for Bury Me, Geek U.S.A., Hello Kitty Kat, and Tristessa, three of which are in my top 10.
Hard to believe there wasn't more songs from Gish or Siamese Dream on this list. Bullet With Butterfly Wings is probably there most commercially successful song and arguably the one they are most known for which didn't surprise me that it was listed at 1. Hummer, Drown, Rocket, Siva, Snail, and Silverf*ck all should have been on this list.
the best song forever of the smashing pumpkins for me are: rocket ( the best, #1 ever) the everlasting gaze( very good, but not more of rocket ) , try try try and disarm.*sorry for bad english, I'm speak Spanish, I are from Chile
Mayonaise (for me at least) is the best SP song

AGREED!
I hate that squidward said mayo isn't an instrument
Its amazing
100% mayonaise and bullet should be switched
Soma anyone? One of the best guitar solos I've heard

Cherub Rock will forever be my favorite Smashing Pumpking song
Yep
Cherub Rock and Porcelina of the vast ocean
1995 RIP Billy's hair.
Mayonnaise will always be my favorite. It brings out emotions in me that no other song does
Same 💯 %
Definitely the BEST Pumpkins song with Disarm a close 2nd.

The fact that this list even includes "Perfect" makes it kind of shaky. "Siva" or even "Rocket" would have been better choices.
Keep in mind that they said that it included commercial successes.
Perfect is one of their best songs, asshat. Fuck off with your shitty opinion
Perfect is amazing lol
Adore in my opinion is their best album

One of the most talented bands of the 90s if not all time. I could never make a top 10 of their songs. The first 3 albums alone are nearly flawless.
I would have gone with,...

3. Glass and The Ghost Children
4. X. Y. U.
5. Pug
6. Quiet
7. Tales Of A Scorched Earth

Andrew Lavan
The Oceania album is awesome as well.
Did you listened to Pale Horse, One Diamond One Heart, The Celestials and The Chimera songs?
Andrew Lavan That is exactly my top 5 as well. I don't know how you can put Tonight, Tonight at #4.
Andrew Lavan Tonight Tonight is epic and should of been number one.
His wife is also the voice of Karen, planktons computer girlfriend.
The best Smashing Pumpkins songs are the entire Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album.

3. Rhinoceros
2. Cherub Rock
1. Today
Anyone agrees with mine? :)
OverdriveI'd replace "I Am One" with either "For Martha" or "Thru The Eyes of Ruby," but I agree with your list otherwise.
I agree.
Id put thirty three and by starlight but they honestly have too many good songs
"1979" is one of the greatest songs ever made.
"Stand Inside Your Love" would be in my Top 5. It is deep and emotional.
"Set the Ray to Jerry" is one of the best B-Sides I've ever heard.
"Bullet with Butterfly Wings" wouldn't even make my Top 10.
drummer4916 "Set the Ray to Jerry" is Awesome !!
drummer4916 Keep in mind, we know "Set the ray to Jerry" because we're fans. BWBW aired a lot on the radio.
drummer4916 set the ray to jerry is absolutely my favorite one ever.
drummer4916 the pumpkins have so many good songs they could probably release a boxed set spanning 5 CDs of demos, b-sides, unreleased and special live recordings ? Oh wait, isnt that the mashed potatoes boxed set!
p.s. set the ray to jerry top 10 easy
I also love "Drown"
10.Soma
9. Mayonnaise
8. Ava adore
7. Perfect
6 The everlasting gaze
5. Silverfuck
4. Zero
3. Today
2. Hummer
1. Spaceboy
Those are my favorite
SPACEBOY, I'VE MISSED YOU!
SPINNING ROUND MY HEAD!
+Cory Castleman lol
i know its subjective , but you objectively have to put 1979 on the list somewhere..... come on dude...
+Ron Johnson I never was a big fan of that song
Ava Adore should've made this list over Perfect.
Top 10 The Cure songs next! ❤️
Loved this! ❤️
This was a good list. This is probablmy top 5 from them:
5. Daphne Descends
4. Eye
3. Ava Adore
2. The Beginning is the end is the beginning
1. Mayonaise
Abril Larumbe Holy shit! i didn't even think of The Beginning is the End... That's a tune. That batman soundtrack was pretty killer.
Mayonnaise is pretty euphoric
For me I'd go with this
10. Perfect///The Celestials (tie)
9. Drown
8. 1979
7. The Everlasting Gaze
6. The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
5. Bullet with Butterfly Wings
4. Tonight, Tonight
3. Ava Adore
2. Mayonnaise
1. Cherub Rock
Abril Larumbe Thank you for putting Eye on there. It's completely different from their garage or symphony sound and it's more a industrial dance song.
Abril Larumbe Everyone knows Mayonaise is #1
Personally my top 10 would be
10. Ava Adore
9. I am One
8. Drum & Fife (It's Extremely Underrated)
7. Siva
6. 1979
5. Today
4. Bullet with Butterfly Wings 3. Cherub Rock
2. Tonight Tonight
1. Mayonaise
How is this not considered the greatest band of the last 30 years?
Probably go to TooL
@@jameszalitis1952 yeah... definitely an argument made with Tool, but I think SP has more of the "90s sound" that encapsulates the generation. Like "Take on Me" in the 80s lol
Listening to Smashing Pumpkins today for the first time ever.
1979 is in GTA Iv
no its just a song by the same band the song is called 1978 in gta 4 yes it is 1979
Wow! Where's The Everlasting Gaze?
eh, Stand Inside Your Love is the best song on Machina.
both had good videos though.
The everlasting gaze is at Melissa Auf Der Maur's underboob.
I'm love their deeper album tracks like "Slow Dawn" "Set the ray to Jerry" "Pennies" and "Here's to the Atom Bomb".
0:51 - #10. "Perfect"
1:52 - #9. "Mayonnaise"
2:54 - #8. "Rhinoceros"
3:58 - #7. "Zero"
5:02 - #6. "Cherub Rock"
6:15 - #5. "Disarm"
7:09 - #4. "Tonight Tonight"
8:10 - #3. "Today"
9:19 - #2. "1979"
11:28 - #1. "Bullet With Butterfly Wings"
Landslide is fleetwood mac... They just did a cover of it
Itai .617 thank you. At least someone called that out.
And "Girl Named Sandoz" is a much better cover from the Pisces album.
I'd have to go:
10.) 1979
9.) Disarm
8.) Eye
7.) Bullet with Butterfly Wings
6.) Cherub Rock
5.) Mayonnaise
4.) Hummer
3.) Tonight, Tonight
2.) Ava Adore
1.) The Beginning is the End is the Beginning
Love your list
Daniel Davis Dope list.
no jelly belly? :-(
"Ava Adore" good song. but Slender man said "WTF up with Billy's Abracadabra hands "
I think 33 is their best song.. along with mayonnaise, disarm, and 1979.
cory wichman I love 33!!!
I like Bullet with Butterfly Wings but it's nowhere near their best song. Mayonaise should've been higher up the list, and Ava Adore should've been on the top 10.
Thru the eyes of Ruby intro.. kill me, soma ❤.. today acoustic...Bodies is a f* song.. I love this band ❤
Bodies is most underrated
Cherub Rock is my fav. That riff is everything. Simple but super effective
I'm upset at the lack of Jellybelly, not even Honorable Mention?
Good song...check out the cover by a thorn for every heart
Despite all my rage, I am still just a Nicolas Cage
Probably the most underrated band of all time. Not my favorite but simply world class.
Smashing Pumpkins are one the greatest bands ever. They deserve to be known as the legend on the same level as Pink Floyd.
Unfortunately Corgans voice is very love hate. I personally love it. But many don't. And they hit it big about 20 years too late to be considered up with Floyd since by the 90s the slow downturn of rock was inevitable with the coming of gangster cRap and Hip Hop.
They are not on the same plane as Pink Floyd
Personality he said they deserve to be
Faith no more same plane as floyd, for the fact that they influenced modern rock with their diverse song, a ton of bands copied fnm
Smashing Pumpkins are probably the Pink Floyd of alternative rock, but their not on the same level as them universally.
My Fav:
10. For Martha
9. Everlasting Gaze
8. Cherub Rock
7. Tonight, tonight
6. Disarm
5. Eye
4. Ava Adore
3. Rocket
2. 1979
1. Mayonaise
Top 10 worst introduction sentences in youtube videos " #1 THIS VIDEO "
LOL RIGHT
you can tell he knew it too
............ of course
yeah seriously.. thats the best they could come up with. . bad.

Ron Johnson ikr
No "Fuck You (AN Ode To No One)?
Zero is life

Corey Kasem's Top 40 Brb you're gaining a new subscriber
Cant deny that, it’s iconic
The End Is The Beginning Is The End. That song to the Watchmen trailer? 👌
my favorite is always changing. but tear, ava adore, landslide, spaceboy, stand inside your love, to sheila are always an eargasm, i dont get bored of them.
But i think I am going to lift landslide as my number one favorite. it just touches my soul.
Every song on Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness ESPECIALLY.
Siamese dream is one of the best albums of all time! check out my pumpkins top 10 video if you like.
Take me down is an excellent SP song
D'Arcy ♡♡♡♡♡
This list came in the same week as I first found Smashing Pumpkins, further igniting my passion for this band. They are now my favorite band. So thanks WatchMojo
33 is often a forgotten but amazing track
I'm actually really upset that there was only 1 song used from the Adore album. I'm more upset nothing was picked from The Machina, or Machina II albums. Not to mention their HUGE collection of B-sides.
I did not like Zeitgeist, but they were trying to put something together that had long since been broken.
Slow dawn was fucking amazing.
LOL list. The fact such classics like Soma, Window Paine, Geek USA, Porcelena, By Starlight, Starla and Farewell and Goodnight are not even on the list and Bullet is number 1... The fail is strong in this one.
Jeremy Hoffman they said commercial success only
Yeah ther "shit hits" ther b-sides and rare songs are soo much better like Cherry,Pennies,Lilly, For Martha, Soma,
Billy Smith for Martha is my favorite soft slow song by them!
Here's my list:
20. Tear
19. Stand Inside Your Love
18. Bury Me
17. I of the Mourning
16. Set the Ray to Jerry
15. Lucky 13
14. Tristessa

5. Geek U.S.A.
4. Hello Kitty Kat
3. The Aeroplane Flies High
2. Silverfuck
1. Soma/Starla (I can't decide between them so they win joint honors.)
Michael Donahoe love this list so much
Michael Donahoe No mayonaise?? Aeroplane is a nice song too great choices
***** I guess when the list goes this deep, it is all subjective ,,, no hate though? I can appreciate a solid list
Machina is one of my favorite albums and stand inside your love is masterfull
My top 10
#10 muzzle
#9 rhinoceros
8# galapogos
#7 porcelina of the vast ocean
6# today
#5 1979
#4 hummer
#3 cherub rock
#2 mayonise
# 1 soma
That's pretty spot on for me. Bury me had something about it that you missed, but other than that, I'd go with your choices.
**Not in any order**
"Bleed"
"1979"
"The Celestials"
"X.Y.U."
"Stumbleine"
"Daydream"
"Hello Kitty Kat"
"Bodies"
"There it Goes"
"Spaceboy"
the best song forever of the smashing pumpkins for me are: rocket ( the best, #1 ever) the everlasting gaze( very good, but not more of rocket ) , try try try and disarm.*sorry for bad english, I'm speak Spanish, I are from Chile
viva Chile!
thirty-three was the song that made me fall in love with the Pumpkins. They've been my favorite band ever since.
Drown needs to be an honorable mention at least
if you genuinely think that bullet w butterfly wings is better than 1979, you are ever so wrong
it is tho
ok but tonight tonight defeats both
