The guitar tones during this era were other worldly. Gives me chills everytime.
Post reforming I think is when the amp modulations became available and that combined with the musicians( Schroeder chief among them)that were involved made for the best sounding and tightest live performances up to that point.
I agree . That bogner Ubersschall is a beast of an amp . Not just a 1 trick pony

Jimmy Chamberlain is unreal
They pure connected this night......
100% right ...a machine !! one of my fav drummer ..im loving his constant hihat left foot mouvements
I know
Best flams in rock! Jimmy rules!
And corgan is from another world
Ironally one of the best gigs of the fucking Smashing Pumpkins in the whole net
Man. I was at this concert. Literally got such an overwhelming feeling of nostalgia from the opening. Felt like I was there again.
This was the tightest lineup on stage. They could have played the entire catalogue. One of my favorite eras, honestly.
absolutely 100%
The wild thing is they had only been playing as a unit for a few months here. I LOVED the 2008 tours. I was devastated when Jimmy left and Corgan let go of Ginger and Lisa and blew it up. I still enjoyed the Teargarden and Oceania era but that version of the band was musically a big step down from the prog monster of the 07-08 lineup.

Billy is underrated guitar player and Jimmy is such a beast simply phenomenal
I am an underrated grunge guitarist too. I write unpublished tracks but in my small town people dont care about that rock music .they are envious
@@Rhstv864 I think he's one of the best of all time, top two or three in my book.
@@laynehansen6216 One of the best...in the alternative. We are writing of indie musicians. I would not talk about questions whos the best Guitar Hero in the world because hes not him (even though his particular way to play ...but ok...id Say One of the best rhythm guitarists in rock music)
@StvRh the fact you think he's a rhythm guitarist let's me know you don't really know what you're talking about. He plays lead on every album. It's okay though. Merry Christmas.
@@laynehansen6216 hello again. 1st of all ...The Smashing Pumpkins are my best alternative band so I know what im saying...maybe i was wrong saying all leading Guitar parts are played by Iha.. ok .. i meant saying the most of solos(at least on live performances) have been played by James I. You can Watch ..well..during One of their concerts...Corgan plays riffs but the lead gtr side isn't his main "role"...so before you judge...look at your knowledges...and Merry xmas
They were really firing on all cylinders here. The guitar tones sound amazing and JC is an absolute BEAST. This setlist found a comfortable balance between old and new, something they struggled with initially. Looking back, this was an incredibly prolific and creative period for the band. BC still had a real appetite to get after it in full force. Many incredible songs came out of this time such as Stellar, That's The Way, and the entire 'If All Goes Wrong' batch. The last vestiges of the real energy of SP before the 20th anniversary tour started the downward spiral.
Unreal that everyone hated the band in 07 and after but now everyone is seeing how amazing that time was and could have been if fans weren’t posers.
I got into this bad right around this period. Zeitgeist was my introduction and I worked my way backwards through the catalog. This period was unreal in that it offered something for everyone. Loud ass distorted guitars, check. Thunderous drumming with the precision of a god, check. Progressive rock jams that can last an upwards of 30 minutes, check. Acoustic ballads that served as the precursor for American Gothic, you bet your fucking ass. Their residencies and 20th century tour I consider some of their peak performances.
Seen very few people get the trajectory right. They have sounded like crap since James came back they took the amps off the stage and chained Jimmy to a click
@@travistravinyle4207 that might be due to the oversized venues. SP is best in a more intimate setting.
@@hilum17 maybe, played a smaller outdoor place in summer of 18 in one of the Nordic countries and the lack of stage volume idk, guitar magic is gone . Its not even close
beautiful vocals from the bass player.. Especially during Stand inside your love.
First time they started Hummer with a Bass solo.. fucking epic from Ginger Pooley.. and yeah unreal that Jimmy is there...my opinion...one of the best drummers in the world
No I have bootlegs from the Siamese Dream era and they usually start Hummer with a bass solo.
LOL. They have skipped the bass intro before but it was rare and certainly never after the MCIS tour. Poke around here and see for yourself: archive.org/details/SmashingPumpkins
The best band of the 90s... By far
The Pumpkins are one of my top favorites overall! Why I like them so much is you have Billy who has a unique, passionate voice that is very rare, coupled with the charging guitars and Jimmy's Drums - just phenomenal!!
I was fortunate to see them when they played at the Warfield in SF about 7 years ago. They played a perfect set!
Great to see Chamberlin healthy and happy and looking good. Bravo sir, bravo! Hope he is still doing well now 16 years later. He reminds me of Clive Owen a bit.
What an amazing voyage of a life for the Pumpkins. They will be remembered for a very very long time I suspect. Long after we are all gone and forgotten. Sigh.
Jimmy just blowing my mind! Amazing drummer!!!
Those are the best sounding drums I have ever heard. Obviously Jimmy is a legend but those drums sound like heaven.
Jimmy Chamberlin is a god.
the GOAT
Billy's solo during "Starla" gave me chills..... Wow!
I think Stand Inside Your Love is my favorite song ever. I love the apparent passion Billy has in this performance of it. What a passionate selfless song. Definitely a fitting song to have the given description by Corgan of being about "Divine Love". God is definitely a huge part of the Machina album. I know Billy and I probably wouldn't agree on everything about God, but as a Jesus follower and lover of good music, Machina is a musical masterpiece dear to my heart. Also, I think this is a very underrated era of the Pumpkins. It's not Mellon Collie or Siamese Dream, but it certainly is a unique, ambitious effort in their catalogue. God bless you, music lovers. Thank God for the gift of music edit: Stand Inside Your Love 26:41
Had some interesting spiritual experiences surrounding that album, too. Very underrated.
The Zeitgest album wasn't great but the live shows were amazing, especially when Adore and Machina songs were performed.
Wow, I forgot how awesome this show was!
This drown performance is one of the best they’ve ever done. Love it!!!
I thought the drummer was weak then I heard him live now I love him stand inside my love is my fav❤
Omg I was here In the second row. So awesome to see!!!
Amber White how cool! I have tickets to both Chicago shows in August. Cant wait to see my Smashing Pumpkins in their hometown!! ❤
I was there too, but about row 15. Awesome show!
look at these super happy super stoked Billy at the beginning!
Billy just kicks ass on here.
The intro was pure madness.❤
Wow the best quality upload I have seen of this. They were on fire in 07. So many gems in this set. Perfect, Set The Ray, Pomp, Drown, Superchrist, SIYL etc...
You're right, they sounded really good in '07 and released some really good songs. Shit, time moves fast
I was there for the first night !!! Billy said in an interview with Joe Rogan that the whole original line up will tour in 2018!!!
Robert G. (Minus Darcy)
Stellar performance.
Fantastic camera work.
LOUSY EDITING.
Wish Billy would bring back United States, wow what a song
Just found this, was 2nd row, amazing.......thank you for the upload, so mindfucked.
I was there :) They always put on such a good show, you can feel their music in your soul!
I was there too. Killer show!

@@O.D.E.GuitarSoundtracks Thank you!!!! It was an incredible night!!!!!!
Me too. Such a great venue and a night I will never forget. Love that it's here for me to revisit.
Those girls harmonize so well together
Zeitgeist is such an underrated album.
This is absolutely brilliant ❤
Billy was a man on a mission in this show. He was super focused and doing his best, awesome to see it. And of course, singing like a hell! very good
Great setlist and sound incredible!
5 months to see you!! yay!!
Lorenna Yturbe Yes! Got tickets to both Chicago shows :)
Unreal... true envisions at this show.
JC and Phil Selway are clearly the current greatest drummer's alive right now.
Danny Carey says hi.
I stand corrected, @@siamesegod
Great show thank you sp
It only gets better with them.
They are great. That's so beautiful.
I’m 30 min in jersey from this place. I didn’t even know about it. The Tower is an awesome place to have concerts.
Flew to SF to catch their residency at Filmore in like 2007. Super duper.
this whole show was great! albums are just hors d'oeuvres until live show tours happen, that's the best part!
Absolute wow truly one of there best performances
that sound still chills
Cherub Rock LIGHTNING speed, like they are all challenging each other.. Jimmy takes the victory with that ridiculous single stroke roll at the end
this is really smashing, .... i'm enjoying this one immensely
Something about watching this set is so emotional, it's like watching a journey prove itself, ino that makes no sense haha
GLORIOUS!
I absolutely love how he was to rockin a schecter guitar in this it’s so noticeable so smooth such a perfect guitar 😭😭😭
Good guitar for not much money
This barely has over 40k views.Thats crazy. What a Show. Melancholy and The Infinite Sadness/Machina Part 2 is coming, they said they will drop at least one track this December with the 33 track album in 2022.
Atum was definitely not that. Billy being Billy with the careful word choice to hype the fans up before it came out
Some really cool track's. This is a great show.
*tracks. No apostrophe unless it's possessive.
There really is something about Starla! 😍🌟
I love her&the base
What a fucking drummer!
I literally would pay to go see just bike drum
Who the hell is Bike? His name is Jimmy haha
@@Jonnydc93 Now I want to see Bike drum!
Thanks for posting this. I had this DVR'd but lost it when I moved. Been searching for it since.
Perfect 💕
I was at this show. I had no idea this was filmed.
AWESOMENESS!!!! SP 4 Ever!!!! 🙋♀️💕
Very good ❤❤❤
Such a unique act, I'd love to see them like this live, wish I was born in the 70s haha x
Still blows my mind how many best guitarists list Corgan is left off from. Cobain makes every list, and honestly was slightly above average at best.
If he didn’t speak his mind, he would be. He’d also be in the Hall of Fame too. Artists who speak their mind of issues, politics, culture, fans, etc are crucified.
Cobain isn't really on any guitarist list. Just nirvana is on every top band list.
@@prestonjones4941 RollingStone had him listed at #1.
@@chrisrowan702 number 1 guitarist?
No other catagory attached?
@@prestonjones4941 Yeah, I thought it was ridiculous. No Billy or James. No Thurston Moore on the top 100 either.
cüs his screams are amazing
1:13:15 Doomsday clock🤟 Love that intro and brutal guitar tone!
Its such a cool song aye!
The original lineup will never be replicated.
I miss ginger she was bae xs 10

Everyone was at the top of their game but the crowd was truly a POS kind of crowd....
I was there and the crowd was great. Dummy

56:17 WOW
holotape Set The Ray To Jerry has always been one of my favourite songs 😍
❤️
Love the keyboard on this performance. Magik
This is the BEST live era of SP
What a fucking good concert
That's just great
Drown… Feck. Wasn’t expecting that. After BWBW i think it broke me.

Absolutely

it’s amazing
diezel herbert and dimarzio billy corgan signatures!!
Lisa dear, please take me home. Wow! Cool, luscious lovely, hall of fame beauty and talented. Oof!
For some songs you can find a connection to U2. That is very nice.
Ginger❤
was this..........................................................lowkey the best era (live)
This lineup is almost as good as the original lineup!
Almost. Darcy and James brought a potency and stage presence that will not be equaled.
Geniales!¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love them but when I hear them live always seems to me they play faster, I wonder I am the only one to have this feelin
No complaints, you get to hear more music!
nope, isn't just you.
i saw them twice on the Mellon Collie tour. they were on fire back then. They played through 16 songs in about 2 hours, but it felt like 20 minutes.
Jimmy Fucking Chamberlin
Legit AF.
Fuck I love ginger 😢😍🔥🫀🔥
In 2007 The Smashing Pumpkins werent in the higher positions.. because Zeitgeist album wasnt understood....I think that album Is in the Smashing Pumpkins ( Top 3) best albums' chart
