the cost of food delivery apps are horrible too. i remember being addicted to ubereats and i wasted thousands. terrible regretful decision looking back but i wasnt in the right headspace either. i was severely depressed i didnt even have the energy to make food.
another horrid part is you hardly get gas money and at the same time you're car wears down with every drive at some point it will have issues as well that you cant afford. also some places with uber it self you can end up driving for 30 mins to an hour and end up with no tip or they stop searching depending on you're town. no need for 3rd party apps to just cut in and have poor people burn cars away for food drop off. and yes it keeps people inside away from others stuck in endless work. and with the net some people may never go outside.
I gotta eat , family never taught me to cook , just told me to be “successful” … I’ve probably spent over 100k on food delivery since the services came out. Idk how to function in this society I’m a homeowner in a city by chances I am both grateful and troubled by . There are endless examples of exploitation of the human condition in the world . I’ve tried to maintain a hopeful demeanor but truthfully it’s hard to bear . I just need to eat . Not sure how what pans out will. But it will . I’m not giving up completely on changing the world but to ask me to watch it burn
for the most part, they didn't teach me either. i still learned and i'm still learning. none of us are helpless, you know. you can pick up a skill at any time. and it's a skill which is easier to pick up than most others. more fun time. just gotta get over the initial fear of doing something new.
@@OsakaSyndromeI cook a lot of days now took some time but I’m learning , I think that’s the only thing I truly revel in . Not cooking but still learning . What I was getting at though is the issue is systemic and compounding and I wonder for as long as we’ve said this why there’s no push yet for reform . Real reform not political posturing pushing power from one prospect to another . From our education system to our healthcare it’s a dangerous and in the end a fools gamble in which no one wins. I hope I’m not pulling away from the topic too much but I just don’t think the structure of families is conducive to growth not even economically maybe in some families but in a lot I feel it’s just so stretched thin . Where can I look for a place to live that you can live off of 12-13/hr? I don’t think I’ll ever find a higher paying job than 25~ range, I’m in Southern California and making $27/hr I cannot support myself.
i basically said that in the video. i can see why some people would get delivery tho. if u think ur time is worth more than the couple dollars to get something delivered, i see it. maybe ur making even more money in that time you're saving. etc

As a NEET and a previous hikikomori I dont really think that at my worst moments of isolation that being forced to go out would help me much, i mean there were times my parents were paying for my food but wanted me to go inside of a mcdonalds or something to go get my food and it would cripple me- i mean id start sobbing and freeze up and everytime this happened we'd just go home and i would end up not eating that day. I understand everything youre saying, and right now at this point of my life i go outside more then i ever have for a while which still likely isnt much but at the point of my life where i was at my worst i geniunely needed those crutches and i dont think i would have done well without them.
Yeah, it's a multifaceted thing for sure. I don't think people should be forced or compelled to recover from their isolation all at once. That runs the risk of traumatizing them and making their isolation actually worse. So, you have to go slow. Baby steps. But you've gotta make it a consistent habit, at the same time. I'm sorry your parents weren't understanding of you.
@OsakaSyndrome I love capitalism but not all companies are necessary. Get the robots to deliver food, tax and tip free. Then the system will be perfect if you're fast enough to not let it get cold
No. As I said in another comment, require that they pay minimum wage. Raise the minimum wage. And provide these people with better job opportunities as well through a federal jobs program doing something meaningful. Like building millions of new subsidized housing units.

bro that is absolutely insane, nice work
It just amazes me venture caps will pour money into these short-sighted, totally unsustainable business models.

Bro i never pay for Doordash. Youre paying tax to not pick up your own food. You get less too and people get mugged.

who are you? i appreciate it, though. ty.
Doordash isnt a job… its a gig. People need to get jobs…
it's a job. legally classifying it as a gig as a loophole. it's a loophole you've bought into.

@OsakaSyndrome yeah but a more than double? I don't think so. If dominoes was paying anywhere close to that I would stayed doing it
