Thanks Glenn, clear and concise explanation on not only how to use it, but what not to do.

You always remind me of something. You talked about going through the bottom on a recess. I did that the other day and remembered a teacher say now clean up the hole and sell it as a flower pot or put in a piece of exotic wood, finish it and sell it for more as it is a special design. He would say there is no such thing as a mistake in wood turning, only a design change. See you did not have a skip back on the edge but installed a small cove ha ha ha

Oh, oh, I want one now, oh yes - 12mm AU for me please Glenn.
Can’t decide between the square bar I’m used to but, presented @45degrees or to go round! decisions, decisions 😂🤣
Just loving your new spindle tools on the round, absolutely perfect, oh yes 👍
Loving my standard tools Glenn & glade I bought the negative rake cutters at the same time but, really need full time handles really now as it’s becoming a pain keep swapping over or finding the wrong cutter on it, left from last use.
For me, a x3 set of your new round spindle chisels & an AU chisel, shape, to be decided upon.
How many weeks till Christmas 🎄

Thank you Peter, the square bar with the cutter at 45 degrees does make it very easy to use, but having the round bar allows you to adjust the aggressiveness of the cut and gives you a little bit more control.
Saying that, the SCH3 is a fantastic tool.

can't seem to find a chart for speeds used when using carbide tools????!!

    • @glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308

Speed is dependent on what you are turning. There is no chart for speeds. Turn at a speed you feel comfortable turning at.

@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 I just started, using 14in dia lathe w/1hp variable speed motor ( the new Harbor frieght one $599), I'm turning some ash and maple. I was a certified all round machinist for 40 years but wood a whole different story. Wish I had a formula for wood w/carbide, just to get the best finish as well as roughing it faster. Any suggestion at all except what's comfortable??

@@joedivincenzo2099 You have to turn to your ability. I don't mention on the video so much about the speed I'm turning at. I know my ability and have assessed the wood I am turning. You need to consider the weight, not so much size as I have mentioned before in a video. A piece of wood could be heavier on one side than the other. Carbides work best with speed. You need to try on a blank piece and try taking cuts at different speeds. See what gets you the better cut. Each wood is different. There is no formula. The same applies to traditional tools.

@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 got it, kinda trial and error, I'll be sure to note how it goes so I can have a clue when starting new projects, thanks for the info
