Loved this vlog!!!! I feel the same way you do. I will definitely read the third book but if it doesn’t get better then I am done! This was a slog to get through and I admire you sticking it out. I only finished it because miraculously my library had an Audiobook copy and I listened and followed along otherwise i don’t think I could have finished without being in a huuuuuuge book slump!!
I was sooo worried it was going to put me in a slump! I was honestly so relieved when it was over hahaha. I am hoping the 3rd book is better, because this was just rough to get through!

I read this book this month and to be honest it was underwhelming for me, it felt so long and the romance was cringy for me, I feel the same way as you do about the length. I believe I'll give the third book a try but if it's similar to this one I don't think I'll keep reading the series.
I couldn't agree more!! You make such a good point about the spice too! They were super cringe lol. It truly feels like someone else wrote this book lol. The writing felt very lazy and rushed. So glad I'm not alone in this feeling!

I'm planning to get a copy of fourth wing and iron flame. I want to read them. But I might not get iron flame and read it if it's not good.
Great review! I haven't finished to book yet and I already agree 100% with you. It is so frustrating when the second book has "second book syndrome" and just doesn't live up to the first book's greatness! I understand that fantasy usually has politics involved and they are my least favorite part, but don't skimp on the personal lives of the characters we know and love! Okay, back to slogging through this brick of a book 😅

You might want to try reading Fourth Wing again then. All the problems of this book were present in that one, too. The only exception is that this book is longer and even less happens. Apparently there's a not unsubstantial number of people who have went back to read Fourth Wing and realized it was not as good as they initially thought.
i think Rebecca yaro was like this will be more politics then romance and the romance is the best part
It really is! and the dragons! I missed all of that. I mean, it was there, it just wasn't as fun.
