I feel like Dain is literally a full on villain. That man annoyed me from so early on he was so controlling! But i also agree I thought the book was going to end at threshing and was so confused what the rest of the book was gonna be 😂

i’m fairly confident that 1) violets mom basically sent her to die by forcing her to be a rider because when violet crosses the parapet it starts to absolutely storm and her moms signet is creating storms and 2) i think violets dad may have been working or doing something to do with the rebellion and her mom killed him or had him killed🫣

Omgg I loved this book!! I finished last night and I read the last 50 pages so fast I swear my eyes must have looked crazy! It was so good, at first I liked ACOTAR more but after about 10 chapters in a love this way more, it’s so fast paced and very entertaining throughout! I’m so excited for the second book eeeppp Brennan

I want to know what Andarna turned into, is it a type of situation that a feather tail can choose what dragon they turn into or do they turn into a dragon they are with the most or just what their parents are? I have so many questions but the way xaden said “she’s fvcking massive now” make me thing she’s turned into a Morningstar tail like tairn or I think Saegel was a swordtail? I think that’s what I’m most looking forward to in the next book and also how Andarna and tairn react to violet being awake but also how violet reacts to seeing her brother at the end. I really want more of xadens pov. I REALLY WANT TO SEE MORE GRIFFON RIDERS AND I WANT IT SO THAT VIOLET CAN TALK TO LIKE ONE OF THEM BUT THEY ARENT BONDED IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN I WANT HER TO GUILD HER ARMY OF LIKE DRAGONS, GRIFFONS AND WYVERN

I just felt like it was very relatable for a fantasy book. Like very easy vernacular to understand ya know? Good for fantasy beginners (like me 🥹)

I went to bed at 5 AM last night because I couldn’t stop until I finished it. I think it’s so funny because at the beginning I actually really liked Dain and I thought to myself “I’m actually rooting for them Idk how I’m suppose to become a Xaden supporter, she has to kill him off or something” but without a doubt by the threshing I didn’t like Dain anymore and by the end I fucking hated him. I hope she goes back an absolutely kicks his snake ass 😂. I actually kind of like that Xaden and Her are bad terms atm and I want them to rebuild their bond so maybe we get a little bit more love hate hehehe. IM ALSO SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT ANDARNA TURNED INTO!! ❤
I LOVE fourth wing. Dain had me so fucked up, he had way too much of a weird savior complex going on that I was not about. I also love the representation that violet has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome but still was a fucking badass

Im unsure if i should give this book a try or not. I usually hate fantasy type books to be honest. I usually struggle to remember all the characters and truly understand the worlds,magic,ranks,etc. Im truly conflicted on whether or not to read this

I just finished the book. I hated Jack with a passion i was just waiting for Violet to get here dragon and 🔥 Jack to ashes and when he had the chance to “kill” Violet he runs and hides behind the tree idiot 🤦🏼♂️. When Violet killed Jack with here ⚡️power I yelled YES girl finally🤣. I hated Violets mum to cold witch. I was sad when Dylan died and was not the part of the friends group, and i was sad when Liam died and the ending OMG. Dain is a villain since he took Violets memories and used it against here..

•The worldbuilding in this book isn't just boring, it's completely nonsensical. The military is plagued with logistical errors obvious enough for your average layman to point out and the government is invested in maintaining a conspiracy to no conceivable end. The only conceivable reason for these elements is just hollow trope invocations with no rhyme or meaning to them ("Dark academia" vibes and "Government conspiracy" vibes respectively) simply because Yarros and Red Tower knew the book's target audience was too dumb to even know what worldbuilding is supposed to be to begin with.
•The characters are easily the worst part of this book. Violet in particular. She begins the story as an insufferable, vapid womanchild and ends the story as an insufferable, vapid womanchild. In the sequel she actually regresses into being even MORE of an insufferable vapid womanchild. And you know what? This would be fine. It means there's a character arc for her to follow where she stops being such a bad character. But the plot bends over backwards to make sure she doesn't have to undertake any character development what so ever and then has the audacity to gaslight us into thinking she's progressing as a character. She's not. The plot is just handing her undeserved Mary Sue powers and acting like that is what makes a character good (Because, again, the target audience is apparently too dumb to notice the difference).
Let's give you some review what's going on: logical issues: this is a war for not just years but for centuries. Right? So why on earth they kill potential soldiers? First and most transparent error in this book. Not just by fellow soldier candidates but even by entering the school. No sense in this. And never explained correctly in the book. But even the fact why the main character has to go into the school is an impulse decision by her mother, no explanation until the end, why should be? "Just bc..." And then... world building... if you can call it that. She literally speaks out data about the world when she walks on that bridge like thing when she enters the school. That's the most idiotic world building ever. So comes her later lover. Introduction. They just tell to each other the full family history right there. Why? Nobody speaks like that. You meet a guy/girl and you tell your family tree just bc you met with her/him and all the relation between??? Wtf? And the description of him. Look up the fan art of him and any Sarah J Maas guy or any other fantasy romance guy. They all look like him. LOL. And the prose how she speaks. That's not an adult, more like 15 years old, that makes the "smut" part sick. And we can go on... This book never saw an editor. How did this go to publishing? This is a draft book without editor. Literally never saw this low level prose and this many plot holes and such in a book so popular. Maas is one thing, she has her issues but this is simply bad. Low quality even in this type. This author should learn writing first. Or meet a new editor if she has one.
