These razors are so great. I think I'll give my son the titanium one and possibly have the top engraved for him when I teach him to shave. Great father/ son gift.

I have the mild one in green with the original design, and the new medium one. For me they're both excellent shavers, but I find i get occasional cuts with the Medium one, and always perfect shaves with the mild. I went back to the mild yesterday for my shave, after a week of not shaving, and it was one of the best shaves. I had to retire the medium one.

I have tough, wiry, coarse, "old man" whiskers (I'm 75) and yet using the AL-13 mild gives me a BBS shave in 2 passes without irritating my skin. It is the best razor I have ever used.

I just got my ti22 mild , only shaved once, but i LOVE IT. my old razer is going in the garbage. No more bad cuts for this guy! Glad i splurged for the titanium for the weight.

Great video as always ! I own all levels of aggression with the Henson and the mild is my most used. IMO this is the best razor if you are coming from carts. You will love the ti22, it is spectacular.

A good comparison shave. I have the original AL-13 mild and Ive never felt the need to get the medium version. As you demonstrated, if doing 3 passes, both will give the same close result. Whoever wins the giveaway won't be disappointed. Great starter DE razor.

How does it compare to the Merkur 34C? That's what I've been using since 2015. I disassemble it every time to clean the blade off rather than wash. Do you find yourself able to rinse the Henson without taking the blade out?
I’m like you, I take my razors apart after every shave as well. The Merkur 34C is a great razor. I don’t know if upgrading to this Henson would make a difference unless you want the medium aggressive razor the plus plus version. Comparing the two side-by-side I definitely get higher quality shaves from the Henson mild or medium aggression. I find myself getting a perfect shave with this razor more often than any other razor in my shave den. It is just that easy to use.

Thanks for the video, I was debating buying the medium but it looks like I am just as good with the mild. Also, I got a little sprayer head that fits perfectly on the Thayers Witch Hazel and just mist it on my face and it works perfectly! :)

I've been loving my medium Henson for the last year or so. It's my first saftey razor and I'm really impressed with the performance and the price of blades going forward. I just need to find a good brush and bowl (and perhaps a super aggressive razor for beard trimming).

Yup I love my Henson AL13 Mild (original version). I am going to eventually try a Feather blade in it. Currently using either an Astra SP or Gillette Platinum.

@@OhioShavesYes sir. I find the GP’s slightly sharper than Astra’s, but I think Astra’s might be smoother.
I found this super helpful. It was actually the final thing to help me make the decision.
My only problem is i think i should have gone with the medium instead of the of the mild.
To some degree, i also wonder if it's the problem of the cream in using. I've tried proraso white, Nivea gel and Gillette gel.
I think i need something with a thinner application. It's just not leaving me as smooth as I'd like. I think my electric Braun was getting closer at times.
Could also be how I'm holding it. I've been using an electric razor for 20 years, so I'm just getting used to it again.
I also wish the default handle was a bit longer. I don't want to pay for a separate one >.<
But your videos are great!
I would grab a variety pack of blades on Amazon. Blades make a huge difference when shaving your face with a double edge, safety razor
Fun Factoid I started watching for feedback on Henson. I actually thought you weren't that pro on Henson and preferred the Leaf Twig. Well this is a surprise but good to know. Hopefully I can get the most recent razor from Henson as upgrades were significantly better. Yes sir you're getting that glass shave you mentioned. I'll be, that good huh? Awesome, going for the least aggressive as your beard is far heavier than mine. Thanks for info! 👍👋🍻

Great review. You had me sold on the Henson ever since I saw one of your shorts about them. I was leaning towards the medium over the mild, but still had my doubts over which one to choose. I picked up a Vikings Blade Meiji to start with since I wanted an adjustable, but it was Henson ads that started me down the path and I'm still wanting to try them out. Great video! I actually found your channel when I was searching for ways to reduce skin irritation when shaving. I used to dread shaving because of the irritation, but I actually look forward to shaving now. I’ve only been shaving with a DE razor for a month now and it has reduced the irritation I get significantly. I use a Rockwell 6c with Astra SP blades and it’s been great so far. Alum and a good post shave balm help a lot too.
Hoping to get my brother who has similar issues with irritation into it as well. Cheers!

Henson ++ is my favorite razor with a a Gillette super stainless blade I liked it so well I got the titanium version I was able to get a +++ from shave nation and still prefer the medium

I have the exact same problem with my lower neck. I have about a 1” area where the hair grows the opposite direction as the hair from my chin down. Super easy to irritate with just a single pass. I’m still trying to figure out how to not get the irritation but still get a close shave.
For me, the Medium AL13++ is better *with the stock RK blades*
I really need to buy a blade sampler pack and see if I can get my AL13+ to give me as good of results as the medium one gives me. I tried Feather blades in my AL13 mild and it mauled my face 😆 I might try corking a Feather blade before using it and see if I get better results.

@ohioshaves Henson Shaving - I actually have v1 medium and aggressive one. From what I have been told, v2 doesn't change the shaving ability of the razors. If you are getting a titanium, you may want to get the aggressive one as you can compare all three aggression levels. From other reviews, the titanium is a slightly heavier version of the same razor. If I skip a day or two, I'll grab the aggressive one but either of the razors are basically autopilot razors and are very easy to use.
