Great review, and very accurate. The only thing I will add is that the Henson AL 13, while lighter, is a higher quality of material and craftmanship. The Henson is CNC machined for precision and aircraft aluminum. The Henson will clearly last you a lifetime. The Twig and Thorn are made of Zinc and stainless steel "internals" for the screw mechanism. The Twig and Thorn are also cast, not CNC machined. While the Leaf product is very good, it's not made of premium materials and it's not CNC machined like premium razors are. The Henson razor is actually one of the cheapest "premium" razors you can get. "Premium" meaning CNC machined using premium corrosion resistant materials such as Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Brass, Titanium, Copper, and Bronze. IMO, they are in two different categories. Premium and standard casting.
BTW: Your camera is having trouble setting white balance with it constantly adjusting in Auto mode, I suggest try a manual White Balance setting I find 4000 to 4600 range is pretty good.🤠
Great comparison shave👏 Sad to see you old brush shatter hitting the floor, that's always one of my concerns especially with my more expensive Custom brushes. Love both the Leaf and the Henson AL13 (I have "+" and "++"), awesome affordable modern mild razors, for SE razors I prefer half DE or AC razors as the blades are more accessible in my country (Aus). Palmolive is a good "cheapie" cream for me.🤟🤠👍
GREAT VIDEO HEIKO!!!! Love your passion and thoroughness! Cant wait for my Henson to get in the mail. Ordered the other products with your links. Thank you so much
I have the medium AL13 and the Twig. Love them. My Perma Sharp Super blades and my Bic Chrome Platinum work excellent for me. The Twig for me requires a cleaning having to take out the blade and clean after every pass though. I wonder if the alignment is correct but my wife mainly uses it and doesn't have a problem with that.
21:52 I carry around a cheapo 30ml plastic spray bottle in my jacket with Pinaud Clubman (and recently La Rive Brutal for the summer) so I can respray when needed - I actually prefer it this way over an EDT which lingers around too long for my taste.
@@no1up There seems to be an AS lotion as well as an EDT. Which one are you referring to? Had this on my list for a while, but problem is, I live in Germany and it seems it's not sold in Europe - maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but importing AS splashes and perfumes is often restricted due to regulations concerning the shipping of alcohol or alcohol-containing goods - unless you're a retailer who knows how to ensure compliance and secure the necessary permits for importation.
I feel like I'm getting nit-picky, but is it possible to turn off the auto exposure and auto white balance on your camera? Whenever you move, it gets lighter and darker and goes from white to orange. As far as the razors are concerned, though I've never used either of them. I'm sure they would both work great for me and my skin. Based on cosmetics alone, I'd probably go with the henson. Great comparison! Very valuable information for those in the market for a mild razor 👍
Not sure what camera you're using, but I had the same issue with my Sony A6000 and found a vid where they walked you through settings to disable it and maximize bokeh (blurred background).
I have both the Twig and the Henson AL 13 and really like them both, but if I had to choose I would go with the Henson. Both very mild but very efficient and safe, especially the Henson. The Leaf has nicked me but the Henson seems as close as you can get to a cartridge razor…but so much better. Cheers from Nova Scotia. MikeR.
Usually an Astra blade but will mix it up with Feather, Bic , Treet, etc, they all seem to work well. Some smoother than others. Feather blades are the most efficient, but Astra seems the smoothest and most comfortable. Cheers MikeR.@@bobjones8321
Hi Heiko, what kind of Henson did You use in this comparison? How many "+" are on the hat and bottom plate? +cis for mild, ++ is for medium and +++ is for agresive version of Al13. For me ++ is mild so much, that I don't want to try +. Maby some day I will try +++. Best regards Kuba

What blade would you suggest using with the Henson?
@@bobjones8321 My favorites in the Henson are Astra SP (green), Nacet, and Gillette Platinum
@@brianh2287Thank you Brian! Merry Christmas!
@@bobjones8321 the astra is the best bang for the buck by far. the only blade i've tried that didn't go well in the AL13 was the wilkinson sword.

Excellent comparison, I have the twig and was able to convert my son from cartridge razors to the leaf, the transition was seamless and he loves it.
Thanks for sharing!

Please do a shootout of blades that do well with the Twig, AL13 , Fine and other daily shavers.
I will. Thanks

Awesome! Thank you!
This one is a toss up for me. I love both razors. When I need to do a quick shave with no worries of nicks and cuts I usually go for one of these.
I agree. I do the same.
Great shave Heiko 👍 and review of both razors

Interesting idea. I have found a few really slick soaps.
I don't shave against the grain on my upper lip because that gives me too much irritation .

It was the + version. The original they first came out with.
Is this mild or medium henson al13?
It is the mild one/ the original before there were different versions.
Hey, OP. You should try Bundubeard's shave soaps. Great stuff from Südafrika.
I'll check it out!
Sie sprecken sehr gut English fur ein auslander. Wie compt das?
Ich lebe schon seit 2008 in den USA und habe auch vorher schon regelmäßig Englisch gesprochen. Übung macht den Meister.
What blade do you guys use with the Henson?
I got the AL13 used and it didn't come with any blades. I have used it Wilkinson Sword and Persona so far.
