Usually, if you duck down below a wasp, they will leave you alone. They are said to move on after a season. Not sure I believe that, but that's what people tell me. 🤪
Wasps are not the evil-doers we've been led to believe. Have I been stung in my life? 100%. But I actually have multiple nests this year at my house and spent almost half of my day outside and have yet to be stung. Like most creatures, if we don't bother them they (usually! 🤞) won't bother us. Plus, many people in my state have been talking about the visible lack of pollination in their gardens this year, but thanks to all the wasps and bees near mine, it's doing better than ever!
Our current trajectory is the issue and we seem to think that tackling the courses whilst ignoring the effect will have the scale of impact required to evade the negative aspects of our choices as a species, ALL our current challenges are now intrinsically linked with feed back loops purely because the planet is a dynamic system meaning you cant change one thing without it having an effect on the other. The correct question to ask is as follows,,,,, How many years of regular iterations of mitigation will need to occur for that scale of mitigation to create in itself an unintended or unplanned change in our species trajectory,,, An unintended or unplanned change in trajectory due to sustaining such a high volume of circumstances of mitigation over a long period of time or we change trajectory intentionally now rather than waiting for multiple decades of mitigation to gradually alter our trajectory with subtle shifts in our world view..... It all depends on how urgent we feel our current challenges are,,,,,,,,,! Honestly we have spent over a century or more investing in conditioning the population with enough of a selfish egotistical perspective to fully embrace capitalism and consumerism so as a whole we simply do not have the qualities necessary to accurately assess our current position,,,,,, The judgement of our species has been compromised so I wouldn't hold your breath because the truth is we will reduce the standards of human existence vastly more than we have before we become prepared to reassess our trajectory in anyway that's substantial enough......!
It is really grim when you look at things broad-scale such as this, as we would have to agree that we as a species are nowhere near on the right track to remedying these pressing issues. However, I do think the number of individuals recoginizing these issues and taking action are increasing exponentially year over year. I personally know so many people now focusing on growing their own food sustainably and in a way that seeks to aid local biodiversity. I'm actually a board member at my local organic community garden and biodiversity is a huge focus for us when choosing community crops and landscaping, and educating our members. Are these trends increasing exponentially enough to counteract that damage we as a species are still doing overall in a timely enoughy manner? Maybe not, but I still believe we all have to try---otherwise the answer is certainly not!

Most insects have an anti-biodiversity reproductive strategy, such as asexual reproduction or with queens. Higher temperatures will increase the rate of decomposition. Plastics have had a major effect on hormonal health, not just in humans and has a much greater impact on civilised/non-overpopulated countries than any decline in biodiversity.
We're not trying to downplay the plastic pollution crisis by any means. As you say, the hormonal impact of plastics along with microplastics are massive and frightening issues, but the rapid decline of insect species and soil health will quite possibly lead to significant food chain impacts on a far shorter timeline than plastic impacts. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that by 2050, we simply will not be able to grow enough food to support the population. This is why we're staunch believers in a circular encomy. We need to come up with a much more widespread focus on repurposing materials and goods already in existence, rather than continuing on the take-make-waste model of consumption on which we've been operating for well over a century.
This is such an interesting conundrum to consider because on one hand, experts predict that the Grand Solar Minumum has the potential to counter earth's warming for a time, yet its possible impact on weather patterns and food systems is quite frightening!
Great vid from such a small channel. Keep it up.
Thank you so much!

Capitalism doesn't cause global warming, greed does.
*glares at capitalism

Infinite growth on a finite planet with finite resources & finite space to dump our refuse, guarantees extinction!
This is why we're staunch believers in a circular encomy. We need to come up with a much more widespread focus on repurposing materials and goods already in existence, rather than continuing on the take-make-waste model of consumption on which we've been operating for well over a century.
Needs to be taught starting in grade school.
Completely agree! I think back on my school days, and the concept of biodiversity was literally not mentioned even once. 😱
