    looks better then it sounds; as it has a rather clean sound it seems the old synths has more warmth

    • @ageshero
      @ageshero 4 місяці тому +5

      I disagree, It’s 100 not clean at all, it’s bright and gritty, and oscilators are distorted at the base level it seems
      It has warmth, but the warmth is over shadows by bright harsh overtones I think

      It has this brash Trigon midrange agressive tone to it that you either like or not , it is not that great at deep warm analog tone and needs to be smeared in reverb in every demo i heard

This is as far from a Moog as one can get. Voyager went EOL in 2015. I wouldn't give InMusic a dime of my money - that company is widely known as the place where good hardware and software go to die. That they fired a substantial amount of staff after the acquisition is telling to me. Not to mention they moved facilities.

    Hmmm... Is it 1983 today to make EP patches on an analogue synth ? What for ?

    • @DrSynth
      @DrSynth  4 місяці тому +1

      Its 1983 every day ! -- Seriously though, one of the goals in doing the factory presets is to demonstrate the capabilities of the synthesizer. The Muse has one of the best FM implementations in analog synthesizers, and so a number of the patches I did was to show that off, and this sound (love it or hate it) is an FM classic. The bass part of Bassionic @4:30 uses the bi-directional loops of Osc's 1 & 2 for another FM flavor.

Behringer will come with a whole bunch of Synthesizers soon.... 😂😮😂😂And for the same money I get not one Synthesizer with 8 voices but 2x Synthesizers with each 16 voices..... 😂😂😂😂So how important is the Moog Tag?

    • @DrSynth
      @DrSynth  4 місяці тому +3

      It's not the Moog tag TBH, its the overall sound characteristics. FWIW side by side the Muse sound is _very_ different than the UB-Xa (I have it as well) with its Oberheim filter character.

    All these different modern polyphonic synths just to play the same thing. By same thing I mean press and hold where no musical statement can be longer than six sometimes eight notes. All with big fat bass and exaggerated reverb where everything is all awash for the press and wait player or better yet the arpeggiator to make up some music. They all can sound the same . They all sound like electronic accordions with reverb and need the reverb to mask how horrible they really sound.. The pipe organ and Hammond organ defined what you could do with polyphony. But we do not have modern musicians who can use poly synths for anything else other than PADs . The modern musicians made best use of mono synths were Keith Emerson, Jan Hammer , George Duke, Chick Corea and the like for soloing. So we have a well received role for mono synths or duophonic for improved soloing with polyphonic real time instruments like Rhodes piano, Grand piano, Hammond organ . But what to do with a polyphonic synth with only one keybed? We have woefully inadequate midi standard which makes it impossible to initiate two notes simultaneously much less 8 and catering to press and wait players are satisfied with the random delay imposed on their notes by the whole scanned midi approach, it is no wonder that human music making is suffering a decline.
    All the Synths that made synths popular were monophonic synths with real time resistor ladder keybeds with no multi millisecond random latency inserted between pressing a key and hearing the sound. The feel of the bassline on an old Mini Moog was because it plays what you play in real time. Modern scanned midi pipeline synths cannot play what you intend. You would not buy a DAC or CD player that inserted random times between the initiation of notes played by the artist but the musician creating the music in real time are expected to put up with it.
    The technology exists to monitor all 61 keys on a keybed simultaneously with a FPGA so we can have real time polyphonic keyboards and Moog should champion dual real time 61 keybed analog polysynths instead of rewarming the Moog One. The big advantage of analog is that it can play bass with a attack delay shorter than the period of the note. 40 Hz has a period of 25ms and so a 4th order digital filter will introduce a delay of maybe 0.1 sec so the best you can do with digital is press and wait and use reverb to cover it up. For analog to be of real value you have to drive them with a real-time keyboard.

    • @DrSynth
      @DrSynth  4 місяці тому +3

      No doubt monophony and polyphony are completely different idioms as it comes musical expression; and what one can do on a violin or saxophone are quite different than what can be done with a piano or organ, etc. The Muse fully supports Mono mode, and with the modulation options can do a lot of expression in that idiom. And, with Unison mode it's HUUUUGE. The musical styles of those you mentioned is definitely NOT mine! I suggest you watch Lisa Bella Donna's video ua-cam.com/video/TYFQ0VVpqFM/v-deo.html

    • @RayyMusik
      @RayyMusik 4 місяці тому +1

      Oh yeah, if you press a key on a pipe organ you hear the sound in that very millisecond - not! There are so many acoustic instruments with very slow transients - players compensate that unconsciously by starting to play tones some milliseconds earlier. MIDI synth players do the same. So what‘s you point?

    • @transpermeance1535
      @transpermeance1535 4 місяці тому

      @@RayyMusik That is a problem with pipe organs so not many percussive or syncopated rhythms like on a Hammond Organ but many organist can train to play with a constant delay just like I can play a guitar riff with the amp 20ft away. The delay is constant . With midi scanned keybeds there is a random delay which cannot be anticipated and affects the player and the listener; both lose focus and intensity.

    • @RayyMusik
      @RayyMusik 4 місяці тому +2

      @@transpermeance1535 What are those “midi scanned keyboards“ you‘re talking about? Midi is an interface between different instruments and not involved in the tone generation within one synth.
