    great food for thought. I like the solid flat-pan bottom with filtration through the sides as this gives a fast flow rate whilst allowing much of the heavier impurities to settle on the bottom. you could probably primary filter quite a large batch before having to clean the filter

    Cut a hole in the bottom and line with mesh would block straight away and the strength of the filter to the edges would be lost. The weight from the bottom helps squeeze the oil to the sides and extract the liquid oil and leave the fat behind.

    If making a cone filter is the difficult part why not put a solid cone inside the bucket facing up? Then you still have an easy clean out (just lift the cone out) and you would filter a little bit more efficiently.

  • @TheZbbt
    @TheZbbt 6 років тому +15

    I hope you realize selling this filter as the only filter needed for your oil. 77 micron is way too large a particle to pump into your tank. Your fuel filters are around 30 micron. I've filtered down to 5 micron, then ran through a centrifuge and that still pulled a lot of soot and carbon out. So please understand if it was this easy everyone would do it. This would be ok as maybe a first stage but that's it

    • @themadinventoruk
      @themadinventoruk  6 років тому

      Matt Vega thank you for you comments. Firstly fuel filters are 5 micron not 30. Filtering oil with this filter many purchasers have used the oil straight away, with no problems. Depends on the oil with fat content, water etc and how you prepare the oil afterwards. Selling hundreds around the world I rest my case. Thanks.

    • @jasonsprouse2803
      @jasonsprouse2803 6 років тому +2

      Agreed. The filter will take out the chunks from vegetable oil, which it looks like he is using. For waste motor oil, what you have to get out will go straight through mesh. Carbon, water, antifreeze, metal particles.....

    • @TheZbbt
      @TheZbbt 6 років тому +9

      Just because you sell them doesn’t make them good, and depends on vehicle. Idi diesels use 30 micron, my powerstroke is 5. What I’m saying is this is a joke if you think this is the only filter you need to use. FOR ANYONE READING THIS YOU WILL MESS UP YOUR FUEL SYSTEM! Get a real filter if it was this easy everyone would do it, you need to centrifuge

    • @themadinventoruk
      @themadinventoruk  2 роки тому +1

      The reason there is no hole in the bottom is for strength, 15lts of wvo is near 15kgs, should you not get that Cork in right then the oil will decant and you'll back to square one. Cleaning is easy as it is with this design. Do you really want to be poking the debris through a hole?

  • @mikesmith8952

    Dave,
    I see one possible fault with your design. Since the screen is riveted into the pail/bucket you would end up with a gap between any area between the riveted areas and at the bottom of the pail where the oil could seep past or around the screen itself.
    All that would be needed to fix this would be using a gasket between the pail and the screen itself prior to be being attached to the inside.
    To not re filter the used oil even after using your filter bucket is not the best idea IMHO, running the oil through a cartridge filter would be the best choice. Its always best to go the extra mile to get the best results.
    One question I do have is why didn't you have the holes made even smaller than 0.0077 you used in your design? Might take a bit longer to drain through but the finished product would also be cleaner than most other filter cartridges out there that people have been using.
    Good luck.

    Are you DRUNK ? EIGHT inches deep ? I think not ! So it's hard to believe whatever else you're saying BUT even that's hard too judge because the sound quality is SO TERRIBLE !!!!! My Father in law used to service oilfield pumping stations and told me that they NEVER "changed" the oil in the engines because oil DOES NOT wear out . Part of his duties were to REGULARLY , simply change the filters !!!!!!!!
