- I've had the Godox AD300 Pro for more than half a year now so I'm finally reviewing it in this video. I can easily tell you that I absolutely love it & it's hands down my most favorite strobe from Godox to date. In this video I go over why and also show you a fun photoshoot I did using the light!😁

the strobist king
LOVE the photo session!! Thanks so much...good to see you back in the game. Been missing your shoots. :-)
Thank you so much! Going to do my best to make more videos 😊
Fantastic video!!! You covered Everything and then shooting with the light at the end was absolutely necessary to show people what it can do and how a pro uses it after you discussed it's power. Job well done!👏
Please do a beginners guide to using strobe on location. I feel so lost on where to begin. I just go the 300 pro and still sealed in the box. Your videos are amazing!
I do want to make this very soon because I think it will help a lot. I'll try and make this before the end of the month. You have an excellent light on your hands for now.😊
The video is informative, but man these shots are just phenomenal. Thank you.
These are some impressive flash photos. I think I need to learn a few things from you here. Came here for the AD300Pro review, now I need a ND filter also :D
Great video, man! I'm now really considering this one. Since the AD600 and AD400 are a bit too powerful for my needs, this AD300 PRO might just be for me. Thanks for showing examples too!
I too have the Ad600 and Ad400 and it's not that they are too powerful for me, but the portability and still have enough power. I bought two and I am adding a third for a location kit. You won't regret it!
@@zacgrimaldo oh yeah! lol totally agree about the portability. And good to know! :D
Amigo, de las mejores fotos que he visto en los canales de fotografía. Felicitaciones
Just stumbled upon your channel and smashed that sub button. Awesome straight to the point review and amazing BTS at the end. I found this video really helpful to see both the technical and practical side of things when out on location. Excited to see what you create next!
My 200pro took it's last fall lastnight during a windy shoot in San Antonio. Looks like I'm moving up to the 300! Thanks for this great video.
The tennis phots at the end were great!
This was an excellent video, well laid out and the photo shoot at the end was fantastic. I thought was click bait but the info provided was spot on.
thanks for the review, this definitely sealed my decision to buy. appreciate the demo
absolutely perfect! You've given me something to "shoot" for! Thanks FJH!!
No problem! Thanks for watching.😊
Fabulous results on the tennis court !
Wonderful set of images and i like you use lowering the ambient light.
Oh Man the Model is so awesome and beautiful!
I’m happy with the 200pro
Great video btw 👍
Thanks for another great and informative video Francisco. I just bought the AD400Pro a few days ago on sale and now this one came out. I am still happy with my purchase, but I do look like how the AD300Pro has a bi-color modeling light, and of course, I would prefer a more compact/portable light.
Informative and helpful as always! Thank you 🙏🏼!
Amazing! Always love your content.
Man your shots so dope, I got the AD300 from your reviews but man, I need a lot of practice taking sunset shots with flash. It’s so tricky to be on point but I love your tutorials 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks! I really need to make more tutorials to break down how I get my shots. Like a step by step.
@@fjhphoto We will really appreciate this ) , and explain why ND vs HSS.
I guess you could get similar results in the morning or in the late afternoon, but then you will have limited time to shoot.
Hello Francsico, thank you again for an amazing video. Could you please do a video where you talk about your light stands? What are your favorites at the moment, how do you fix your different lights to your stands (do you use diferents adapters? ) what are the best lights stands if you want to be able to rotate or move your light? thank you very much !
Pretty good presentation & informative...beautiful photos, Thanks ☺️
Hello, Great videos first of all. I wanted to ask what video editing software do you use? I always learn something from you content
great mix between flash and ambient!
Great info! big fan of your work! stunning model
The model is so beautiful
Love the review and the BTS vid at the end - the images look amazing! Guess you we're underexposing the sky to get those rich blue colours? I have 3 AD600's which I love but I heard the 300Pro has issues with mounting modifiers - any issues?
Thanks! Yup, I wanted those rich Blues so exposing them a little dark was key. If you use the 300 Pro's mount it comes with then yeah it's a bit of a pain. It's for this reason I recommend the new S bracket for round head lights;
amzn.to/3hARgiD
That's actually how I used the 300 Pro in this video to connect to the Bowens mount beauty dish.
@@fjhphoto do you recommend a product to reduce light leak. I have that mount but the only way i can prevent it is with a cloth or something.
Awesome shots, thanks for sharing, great set up
Thx 4 the vid. I got the Ad300 today. Looks very good and it will be a pleasure to use it. There is only one thing, I don't like... to take out the battery (accu) is a real pain....
Excellent Video great information and thanks for sharing !😀
@FJH Photography
Fantastic video ❤️👍 How good it holds after 3 years from this video ? Do you still find it as good and okay in quality, performance and durability after using for three years?
Can I use Elinchrom mount accessories, softboxes, beauty dishes, reflectors etc with the Godox AD300 Pro? If yes, then it would be nice and kind of you to explain 🙏
I like the idea of the AD300 compared to my AD600 pro and Ad200 pro as I have the desire for an in-between power range that is lighter, however, I usually use extension heads due to my worry with wind, etc (Already lost a ad600 in the past). Sadly, this has not been available yet for the Ad300. Might still try it, but that would be nice if they came out with a head extension for the 300 as well.
Great video!! Thank you for the review.
Incredible pics, I still don't understand how you get full body focus at such wide apatures, generally if yes get in focus years and nose get out of focus
Love this video!! Got to get me one!
godox should make a bowens adapter for the AD300 Pro that clamps on like a profoto reflector or softbox ring.
Great video. But do you prefer this over the AD400? The ad400 is a much better buy right now.
Wow I wish I can take photos like these ones here in your video 👌👌👌
Beautiful work 👏🏻
Thanks for the review!
14:56 you use the full power of the flash and f1.2 at the same time. How is it possible? The aperture should be about f11. Grey filters?
Excellent review brother.
may I ask what light modifier did you use for this shoot? Seems it avoid the hot spot entirely.
Great review. Do you have a link to the color gels you are using for the AD300 pro?
Man what a beautiful girl!!! Awesome pictures by the way.
Love this! I am having a hard time figuring out what type of ring to use to be able to add my soft box to my new Godox AD300. Can you help me? I have an S bracket.
Amzing shoot!
Bro love your work 👍🏽.
As long as you are out having fun.
Anyone know why the buttons are not working on AD300...I can turn it on but can't turn the flash off...the buttons aren't working at all but xpro can trigger the flash.....
solid video
Hello. In your film from the photo session, the parameters 1.2f and 1/250 100ISO are given, can they be real? In the film, I see that the photo session took place on a sunny day. Did you use the ND filter or did you make a mistake when writing the parameters under the photos?
@
FJH Photography thank you for sharing
I'm looking at getting the kit which has the two heads plus backpack plus I think umbrella and softbox... Does a D4 sized body fit in the backpack?
great video!!
u forgot to share the flash power u used in each shot. Did u go full power?
Must be using a ND filter. What density? ND 4 perhaps
6 stop ND filter 😊
@@fjhphoto Why use an ND?? For the Flash?
@@antdx316 Probably wants to shoot wide open using the 1.2 lens.
my thoughts exactly .. messed my head up for a second ... I seen 250th im like " more like 2500th" lmaooo
Very useful video.. Thank you
Im trying to decide on which is better in terms of power quality and flash recycling btw the godox 300 pro. Or godox Qt 400II M. Thanks
Excellent!
Thanks for this insightful review. I believe the AD300 Pro works with Godox X1 trigger, correct?
Thanks for the review!!! really informative :) Though I don't see the new mount as a plus, I'm not buying a set of new softboxes, reflectors, etc. just for the AD300, I am gonna get the new bowens mount bracket instead.
sorry for me is confusing smaller godox mount, do you know if P90L PARABOLIC SOFTBOX OR OLDER GODOX BEAUTY DISHES WORK ON IT?
Hiiii ! 2 questions, you have (2) 300’s
Did u use both to get these kind of results ? And what’s the best easiest (less confusing) transmitter to purchase for the 300 ??
Thank you 🙏🏼
Is it F12 . Are you using high speed syn? Also what the output of the flash. Thanks for sharing!
at 1/1 its 300w.
Hey I just by the godox 300pro im using canon t7i, but all image just come out black when I turn the flash on, any advice? About how to fix that
Thanks for another great review. Two questions: Did you say the Flashpoint version will fire with a Godox branded trigger? And, when is Adorama going to let you do a group purchase on this light?
Won't be a group sale til maybe winter Fall of next year. And yeah, Flashpoint and Godox are the same thing so they'll work together.
Nice one bro
wait so do flashpoints trigger from a Godox X-Pro?
Should we buy the bracket ,if we have Ad300 pro with (phottix raja85)soft box?
I’m needing everybody’s help here. I’m a beginner at photography, and I mean a beginner. Everything has been self taught for the most part. I want to invest in a strobe light, but not sure which one to get, would you recommend the 300 to start with or should I go with the 400? Also what kind of photo editor app are you using? Thank you in advance!
Hello, thanks for your video and these nice pictures. I would have 2 questions please...
For the firsts pictures, I think you use a ND filter, isn't it ? (Otherwise I don't understand the measurements in full sunlight)
Then, do you work in TTL, or manual 1/1 with adjusting the flash distance ?
Many thanks
Vince - France
Is it possible for me get raw format of the picture to edit them?
Hi, I love your videos and finally bought your suggested gear. I will be going on location but I find that that stand (stainless steel Neewer) is too heavy. Is there a more portable stick you would recommend. I don't have an assistant so won't have anyone to hold a monopod.
I highly recommend a cart like this:
amzn.to/3hxrgol
Helps so much at my shoots. Without it is a pain to carry gear. The weight of the stand helps keep it from falling and I also hang my camera bag onto it for weight.
U suggest the flashpoint xplor600 or the new godox 300 or 400 pro? I found a good deal on the xplor for Black Friday which is cheaper than both the pros. I’m only trying to start with one so what would you suggest for overall useage?
Which Godox light would you reccomend for a cheaper price ?
Can the V1 or any similar sized round head fit inside the Godox mount? I can't find the inner diameter of that mount online.
Thank you so much. Could you tell me what's that spray?
Atmosphere aerosol.😊
Good thing you had that mask on outside 👍👍
Thank you for this. Do you have the name of your bag still? I just bought this light and love your bag.
Would the Flashpoint connect with the X2T trigger with Canon? Also, would you have to match the id on both?
Yes it'll work with that transmitter and you don't need to match the ID on them. That's just extra security security you can use or not use. The channel and group need to match though.
@@fjhphoto Thanks bro!
Good review about the AD300 pro. Regarding the shooting, probably that's the look that you are going after. But I think that background is a little bit underexposed compared the subject which make the photo looks unnatural and it's obvious that a flash was used. Regarding the action shot what do you think went wrong. Is the AD300 pro not powerful enough to allow a fast shutter speed to freeze motion ?
I intentionally aimed for motion for the action shot. And I don't care for a natural looking shot in my photos. I use off camera flash to create photos not possible with only natural light.
It seems you use the ND filters in this shot to decrease the ambient strong sunny daylight compare to the model light.
Is this technique better than HSS? why?
What light stand adapter alternative would you recommend?
I mention adapters at 6:05. I highly recommend the S2 bracket. Bowens mount is really popular.
ok im sold ;)
do you use auto or manual focus? specially for those shots where she was serving the ball
Autofocus always unless I'm taking a photo with strong sun behind the subject. That's where it can be difficult. Sony has eye-AF and I think its what I used for the serving photo.
so far have you come across any enviroment where you found the ad300 to be under powered?
Can you get away with just one of these and still get great shots in bright sunlight? or is 2 pretty much mandatory?
How is it possible that in broad daylight the photos were taken at F1.2 1/125 ISO 100. Did you use any ND filter? otherwise I don't believe it much
Hello Sir, thanks for the detailed explanation. I have a question - I am a beginner photographer from India and I was asked by a fashion startup company to shoot their apparel with models/mannequins in the studio. Our budget is very limited and I am looking at Godox AD300 Pro with a 120 CM Octabox as my key light. I already have a Godox TT685 and a small softbox which I can use as a rim/hair light or as a secondary source to light up the background. Could you please suggest if the AD300Pro and 120 CM Octobox would be enough to light up head to toe shots? Please suggest.
Nice 👍
Hi, what's the part number and brand of those round gel filters you had in your backpack
Those are magmod gels for their Magbox. They don't fit the 300 Pro. I ghetto rig them to fit using gaffe tape.
@@fjhphoto lolll ghetto rig them, love the phrase
They saying this one doesnt have correct colour. It makes blue/greenish.
Hi Dude, Did you find an alternative to the Light bracket?
Hey there, how're you? maybe you can helpmeet with a question. I have a pair of AD300Pros and a X-Pro Trigger, and for now have no light meter, so I want to use the TCM function. The question is, which of the options for the TCM I must use for correctly expose with the AD300Pro?, in the menu I only have 'Speedlight (the icon)', '200j', '360j' and '600j'. Thanks in advance!!
I'm not sure but I will check this and update you.
@@fjhphoto by the way, I have X Pro for Nikon, with the firmware versione 1.7 (the last one in the godox web) thanks!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank You!
AD300 or 400Pro? Both on sale at Adorama and they are only $20 difference! I really love the portability of the AD300 but for the good price of the 400Pro and it's power... it's really tempting. In you opinion, is the slight heavier weight and a little more power worth it being more $200 cheaper now from the regular price? Or just go with the AD300 if the reduced power from the 400 not that big? Thanks for your advice!
Get the 400 Pro. At the small price difference it's the better buy. Please use this link to order as it will help me out.😊

AD400 all day long. It’s not that big at all.
@@fjhphoto thank you!!!
