I got my start at the Crash & Roll Academy in S.L.C., lasted four months there, left them for a smaller refrigerated company out of Union Gap WA, stayed with them til I had my year of OTR, then started with another refrigerated carrier out of Fargo. Dave, I'm glad that you are happy with CFI, I couldn't drive for another big carrier again. The company that I have been with for the last 21yrs only has one terminal, I much prefer a smaller carrier, they aren't for everyone. They have improved over the years, brand new bigger terminal which they have expanded. It's nice having only one terminal, walk into the office everyone knows you, good, bad or otherwise. I didn't have to check a loadboard or beg for loads, some drivers got better loads, others got the $hittier loads, just depended if you were reliable.
I spotted Dave. I was going Eastbound on 44 just shortly behind John. Seen Dave passing exit 97 near Marshfield Mo. It's a small world out there. I saw his truck, and I waited for a video to come out. Sure enough I have spotted the great Dave!
I’ve been driving 15 years and still talk to my trainer John,awesome part he done retired from trucking and still answers the phone and answers any question I have.
I do southeast regional and home 3-4 times a week. It's interesting to see this job through the eyes of a new new new rookie. I grew up in it so I started driving. I knew what to expect. Keep up the good work and don't lose your enthusiasm
Everyone has to learn you can't expect to be able to back right away but watching your videos you seem to do pretty good keep up the good work and be safe out there!
You easily have one of the best of not best trucking channels on UA-cam. I been driving for 6yrs now and im with Napa Transportation. Everything that you're going through ive been there and sometimes still have things happen. You stay positive through it all. And are a better backer than me lol. Its all sl relatable. Most drivers on youtube are owners and have problems i never see. Keep it up.

I drive package at UPS. Just went feeder, my first day behind the wheel of a tractor we drove around a 28' trailer (that was a Tuesday). We drove everyday, on Friday I pulled a 53' around town. The next Tuesday I did my DMV road test. I passed !!! It was a stressful time. I am loving it so far. Backing is still a struggle.

To anyone reading this! If I can pass pre-trip, skills and driving twice, you can at least pass it once! (Expired permit after I passed pre trip the first time meant I had to do everything all over again!) I had to do the driving test again as well because it was too windy the day of the test so the instructor took me on a combined route with no freeway (the head of the dmv said she can’t do that) and I had to go back and do it all over again😂 Currently I’m a road driver for FedEx Freight out of Reno, NV 🤙🏽 stay safe

I have similar moments with my old colleagues from when I drove. Not as many clear wide roads in Australia, a lot of ours have trees in the middle but I made it work. I’m on my own now though. Thanks for the great video.

When I started driving , I picked Werner solely because they had a three month long training program . I was 23 and had never been far from home it was great . I had an old school driver and and old school dispatch it was an amazing time . I learned so much and it was very much needed for me . Because I sucked at everything.
I hope to work with CFI soon, I've been on the road before and understand that seeing someone is awesome,little things like this breaks up the redundancy.

6 weeks out of training with swift i took a load to brooklyn/queens. never been to new york city. it was September and the weather was perfect. i was in some kind of awe of the place and nerve wracked at the same time. the bridge heights out there are ridiculous. but after i took that load i had the experience and the next time they offered me a load going to the bronx i was like cool, I'll take that. new york sucks and is cool at the same time. but when it's time to leave I'm ready to go.

The truth about starting trucking, you nailed it on the head man. Baptism by fire .my school didn't teach me how to back so i went to California not knowing how to back with a " trainer " that was more like a co-driver. But its like you said trucking isn't for everyone in order to make it being persistent and not giving up is the key to success.
You know the saying “if the wheels ain’t turning you ain’t earning”? They might pay standby/breakdown rates but it’s never much. With the demand for drivers today, if you tell them if you’re not hauling a load in the next 24 hours I quit. You’ll have a replacement truck and a load instantly most of the time
I remember my very first load on my own. I was having an anxiety attack just backing in at a Walmart distribution center and now 6 and 1/2 years later. I'm still driving and doing fine
At 12:15 you passed a place called CLEAN uniform. I’m a route sales rep there! Pretty cool to randomly see you go right past my hub after being a new viewer lol keep em coming buddy!

15yrs ago CFI was the first company i started with. Had the best trainer ever! Watching your videos bring back memories.

It’s all down to the timing. The more used to it you get the less you over correct. The 28s can be a pain to back up also.
