      True but depends on your set really
      If your set is electric it could be harder or easier depends on the person playing
      Electric drum is small so it could be really hard to hit, but if you mastered electric drum its easier because you don't need to almost full extending your arm while playing ride.
      Also just wondering what is the hardest you can play?
      For me its probably Toxicity and My Hero

      ⁠@@crystex326bro your song selec is fire toxicity is really fun, but for the other question on electric the entire point is to begin with it, since the drumset is smaller it helps you on your precision so when you start playing on acoustic drums you can play better cuz you wont have to be precise

      That trick is far easier than you think, it’s not even an actual stick flip, you just hold the stick loosely between your index finger and thumb and twirl it in a circle. It looks like you’re doing a cool trick but it’s super simple and easier to do while playing

      That said, it's elementary to play without looking. If drummers looked at their drums in competition, they'd get drilled hard by the judges. The drum major is there specifically for the drummers to lock their eyes on. This is a parlor trick. Fun for nonmusicians, but an entirely understandable thing for people who marched.

    It might seem super complicated, but this solo is actually pretty simple. Most percussionists probably use it as warm ups and it’s usually baked into their memory because how often they play it.

      Stick flips are also muscle memory. When i was on marching snare we almost never look down always looking up towarda the audiance even during stick flips and such.

      jig 2 is really easy. I hate that it gets so much hype because it isn't fun for anyone but the quints. even then I've known quint players who've gotten tired of playing that solo so fucking much. when I became drum captain I banned that shit so fast.

      Plus a marching battery member. You’re not even supposed to be looking at your instrument anyway! Unless the choreography allows it, but even then your eyes are always to the box!
      Plus we practice everything A LOT so everything is relatively if not perfectly memorized.
      Then again, when it comes to a performance, may as well have fun and “spice it up” for the audience. Even if it doesn’t change too much for us as the performers XD

      as a multiple instrument player as well, i play flute, french horn, and saxophone, and you do not need to see things when you’re a WIND player… but when you’re a battery/percussion player, you kinda DO need to see things to hit the right targets 😭

    My fellow percussionists know that blindfolded literally doesn’t do anything, keyboard instruments are a little harder blindfolded but quads and bass and snares, etc. you don’t have to see to play

      All my fellow band nerds know that blindfolding a player on an instrument they typically play doesn't change the skill level at all unless they're still figuring out how to play. 💁🏽‍♀️
      This is just more impressive to NON-instramental people. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Muscle memory to anybody who's played.

      When I marched sometimes we'd flip the lights off so we couldn't lean on unnecessary visual cues. we'd get 8 counts click into the song and the rest was on us, just dutting away in the dark lol. It made us really sharp! Trust your ears not your eyes.

    He has so much talent! Reminds me of my best friend that passed away when I was 16. He was in band and was invited to do the national band event out of thousands of applicants only 50 or 100 were chosen and he was the number one choice for his portion and the day he found out, he actually ended up passing the next morning due to a car accident he had that night.. RIP to Steven you’ll forever be missed🙏🏽💜
