It may not make sense to you, but I think the reason was because of the few times he fell off of the beat. I don't disagree with you, but you have to think about the decision as a judge, not a viewer. They have a LOT of people who audition, so the judges have to be very critical.

Despite his young age, you can see the focus and enjoyment in his eyes and smile as he plays. I'm definitely going to be following his progress in hopes he continues to keep playing.
Drummer here. This kid has some CHOPS for a 5 year old. I can't imagine what he'll be like in his teen years or even just sitting down in general. His timing, rhythm, and overall playing exceeded any expectations for a 5 year old, let alone someone twice his age! Absolutely incredible performance.

The way he kept looking over at his parents for their approval, instead of looking out into the audience for their approval (and there were thousands of people cheering for him) is a huge reminder that kids need their parents in their corner and in their life for every single occasion whether it big or small. He did an amazing job!

I'm a drummer and have played for 60 years, and all I can say about this little 5 year old drummer is, he is amazing and blows me away with his playing and timing! He definitely has a future ahead!!!! Wow!!

As a drummer, I immediately noticed how sharp his timing was. So I started looking and listening for certain things that gives a person perfect timing during a performance. Didn’t see or hear any of it. Buddy has a legitimate gift.
As a drummer myself..I can say that it is absolutely INSANE for a 5 year old to have that much control. That music is running through him!!!

(and didn't have anywhere NEAR the talent he does). Great parenting, and I hope they protect him from the evil that he will encounter as he grows up. His future as a drummer is limitless. Simon said something that only musicians will understand when it comes to playing the drums, and music in general. His timing. For a kid that young to be able to hold a grove that tight is remarkable. I can appreciate that Simon has a serious level of music understanding, more so than most judges that I have ever seen on this show. This is why he is there. A lot of grown drummers have trouble holding a considerably consistent tempo while playing, so for this kid to be able to do so at his age is truly a spectacle to witness. 👍
