The User Manual describes how "Range" works, but you do not talk about that in the video. Range areas OVERLAP...so even though you might set the range at (for example) 1 mile...you will hear signals from outside that area. The default "10 mile" setting is really the best.

Paul, I love the scanner but I do have a question about location. The note on the box reads to not enter my zip code if it's pre programmed? So will I ruin the programming you did if I enter the zip code just to see what is around me? Can I listen to everything by zip code and then go back to your programming without messing anything you programmed up? I plan to use this both base and mobile so I need to figure this out. Thanks
You can program away and not loose your programing when you are in a different area. The favorites list and data will all be the same...Only the location frequencies will change. I hope that helps.
