    back in the early '60's when NASA had a bottomless budget and we had a clear goal of a man on the moon by 1969, NASA was hiring engineers of all varieties right out of college. A group of them were called together and told they would be manning the new Space Suit Division, and tasked with designing the space suits the astronauts would ned to work in space and on the moon. They told the NASA Exec "But we don't know anything about space suits!" The exec told them "Guess what? Nobody else in the world does either, so you guys will be the first."

      Interestingly NASA did NOT design the Apollo missions space suit. Instead they hired those well known space engineers and cutting edge astro physicists Playtex (you know.. the bra manufacturer). We are told by NASA that weight reduction for the mission was so important that every thread on the suit was counted. However, this did not stop them providing a sunglasses pocket - presumably for those "right in your eyes and in no atmosphere too" moments. Of course we wouldn't recommend taking off your helmet to put them on, but at least you knew you had them with you. Seriously, you couldn't make this stuff up!

    • @nursesteve2004
      @nursesteve2004 2 роки тому +11

      because the new space suits have to be able to deal with lunar regolith, the lunar dust. Studies made on the spacesuits worn by Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt, who both spent more time on the lunar surface than any pervious missions, showed that the lunar dust was so deeply embedded in the suits that they were dangerously close to failing, because the regolith's microscopically sharp edges were beginning to wear down the outer layers and compromise the seal. Clearly a new suit designed to be worn outside on the surface for days at a time is needed.

    Late 60's!? This feels, "prototype/proof of concept taken to the first trials," in its timeline. They must have made huge strides in those last couple/few years before final design that we all know and love. Never did get the mobility issues ironed out though. Causes me to wonder how much improvement they have made for the new ones. Its a real concern. These folks need really good mobility so they don't fatigue too quickly. This film about the space suit is another big lie which is a part of The Biggest Lie pulled on mankind. The space suit here depicted has the heat exchange unit and the narrator talks about the astronaut being in direct sunlight. So, what happens when an astronaut suddenly finds himself in the shade where the temperature drops 300 F instantaneously? Where is the heating unit? The PLSS suit shown here did not have one. Even if the PLSS suit had both cooling and heating units, how would they switch their operation upon sudden temperature change? Another bull shit is pressure inside the suit. Did you notice the man inside of that suit and his posture after blowing that suit up with oxygen or mixture of oxygen and nitrogen? He looked like a bubble with limited movements of his extremities. Look at the glove fingers. They are stiff as a hard rubber pipe because the inside presssure inhibits the thumb touching the index finger. Radiation easily penetrates the lining of the kind shown here. Cosmic rays are so potent that only a layer of our atmosphere can stop most of it even though some do reach the surface of the Earth but not as harmful as in pure space. This suit absolutely does not protect human living cells against powerful cosmic radiation. And why was the suit put under the test in a chamber with a mannequin and not a real human in it? Where are the suit tests with men in it? How can one believe that on the alleged Moon Armstrong put on the space suit for the first time in his life after it was tested in the chamber without anybody in it? A MANNEQUIN will not feel any damn thing. The damn doll will not tell if it's comfortable or if anything is leaking or not working properly. Was the temperature switched from blasting heat to instant cold within 2-5 seconds in that chamber? And back, too? Were people scared to wear that suit and step into the chamber? This test of suit alone does not prove that the suit was good. And all films with people on fake Moon look in those suits like in swimming suits that don't hinder one of their movements. They hold screws and bolts just as if they were on Earth (they are on Earth in a studio). The pick up very small parts with their gloves. They operate the camera shutter with ease. They use tools and other contraptions requiring fine tunning with fingers. None of the suits look puffed up. The wrist and elbow areas look like the suit is simply worn loosely on body. They have no difficulties bending, getting up when they fall or kneeling. Landing on the Moon is pure crap. Compare this film with alleged films from the Moon of alleged people on the alleged Moon. There is such an enormous difference in technological portrayals. I cannot believe that people are so gullible and believe that man was on the Moon. There was absolutely no ONE on the Moon. The suit and other things in Apollo program were faked on unbelievable scale.

      @Casanova Frankenstein Telemetry data mostly concerns aircraft/engine performance, gathered from an array of dozens of sensors. In an aircraft it consists of the data recorded by the flight data recorder or “black box”. It’s a stream of endless and boring numbers with things like data/time, altitude, attitude, airspeed, engine power, fuel levels, voltage levels, status of various control inputs, and dozens of other pieces of data. It’s useful only for analyzing a failure of the vehicle. What was the engine, fuel system, electrical system, doing right before the failure? What was the altitude, position, attitude, speed of the craft? What were the control inputs from the pilot

      the gasses in the suit do expand, and it is called "Ballooning". the reason why it doesn't pop is due to how the suit is built. lots of dens criss crossing fabric like layers of aluminum, Mylar, Dacron, nylon, and Teflon. all serving the purpose of protecting the astronauts from lunar dust, extreme temperature, the vacuum of space and allowing the suit to expand whilst still allowing the astronauts to move somewhat comfortably. think of it like a backwards deep dive suit.
