This was such a fun clip to watch. From Adam's very genuine, child-like excitement and wonder, to the explanation of the level of detail that went into conserving the suit, to the simple fact that even Neil Armstrong's moon suit had a silkscreening mistake, there was a lot to enjoy from this. Thank you for all of your hard work.
You have some thing that will be here for generations.
You have the greatest job on Earth.
the excitement from Adam is like a Kid on christmas morning getting the Exact gift they wanted...
R.I.P Neil Armstrong
“One small step for man one giant leap for man kind.”-Neil Armstrong 1969
It's actually one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind
They had that line planned for months
Oops sorry it was. We’re no strangers to love you know the rules and so do I.
The day must come when Adam has a statue made of him at the National Air and Space Museum as a mark and appreciation and getting myself and countless others interested in space travel. What an absolute incredible job Lisa Young and her team have done with Neil's suit I am sure he must be looking down very proud of the efforts made to restore this most important piece of NASA's history.
Her and her team did a fantastic job. I hope to see it myself one day.
Hey thanks for the love miss u guys on mythbusters....it was fun...unbelievable 21 layers they had a job huh...I could not imagine wearing that suit if the air flow oxygen system went out,I'm claustrophobic so I really would not know, those older helmuts were real tight around the head know way I could wear one...thanks again great job big thanks to the lady who restored the suit, unbelievable work ten years...holy cow
Amazing. Its neat how NASA didn't think ahead to it being historic and how to preserve it . They just made it best they could for use and went on.
Just like the telemetry and original tv footage.
@@thebruffy1077 The tv footage would have been amazing because it was recorded straight from the transmission from the moon. The tape was rewound and used again for another mission because they were so expensive at that time. Cheap bastards should have spent more money and bought more tapes! I’m wondering if anyone even thought of the recording as something special!
@@dflo4165Tape reels had just numbers (listed in a notebook somewhere else), not names. So the likely dropped it in a box of tapes to be reused and nobody cared what was on it. The first seasons of Doctor Who even got intentionally deleted, because BBC considered itself a theater of performance art, not creators of lasting art objects, and they even had to pay fines for repeating the same TV shows multiple times and thus erased and reused the expensive video tapes.
Adam is such a huge nerd and he is AWESOME!!!
So proud I was one of the contributors to the Reboot The Suit crowdfunding campaign. I wear the sticker proudly! Incredible to see it all come to a triumphant fruition!
I am so proud to be a supporter of this amazing project! I can't wait to go and see this for my self!
Should have posed the suit coming down the stair with one foot on the moon. First step. First suit
Technically, that would've been one foot on the pad, one on the surface. Neil Armstrong has already stepped of the ladder at this time.
@@Jan_Strzelecki Yes, it was a "giant leap" from the last step of the ladder to the pad.
Would've needed a recreated PLSS for that.
It would be a cool pose but it would have been stressful for the suit to be bent like that.
Technically it wasn't one step because the last rung in the ladder was too high to lower one foot , he had to jump down with both feet but i'm sure he would have taken one step soon after :-)
You Sir are a lucky, lucky man ! Seeing that and getting all that information on the conservation - thank you !!
Meanwhile Buzz's suit is hanging up in some random closet somewhere! Loved the video, awesome stuff.
It was so cool seeing how much respect these two have for each other.
Adam (nods): "Neil's spacesuit."
Spacesuit (nods back): "Adam."
I didn't hear a word of this after 'lunar dust on the knees' - from that moment all I could think was "That dirt is from the MOON!"
I may have to re-watch this at some point
Charles Stonebridge 👍👍👍👍👍
It’s fucking fake do you think they actually went them moon you are dumber than you are smart
@@TonyDAnnunzio Ok mr tin foil hat
Dean Hartland yeah ok have you seen them ?
Tony D'Annunzio Not mirrors themselves since there too small. But you can definitely see the landing sites through telescope. I’ve seen them, there’s no faking that. Seeing is believing brother.
I honestly mean this...Adam Savage and Neil Armstrong are two Great Persons on my Hero list. I have at least 2 dozen so far on my list.
These Two Are Simply Amazing.
I almost cried at the thumbnail alone ❤❤❤
What an honour to see that thing in person
That is such an icon. What a wonderful testament to human achievement.
Gavin Costa
Yeah and the fucking earth is flat too.
This was a lot more interesting than I expected. They did amazing work conserving this historical artifact!
What did she think of Adam's suit?
That was something that was missing, I was sad. I want them discussing improvements.
Id like to know too
Same, that’d be great... Adam doesn’t fly across the country with his suit everyday right?
Luke Luoh Wouldnt put it past him honestly
In his reproduction Saturn 5...
I just absolutely LOVE his enthusiasm and respect for the suit. ❤
Adam is great. He's such a big, enthusiastic kid.
This makes me really emotional, for a variety of reasons.
But I can't help thinking what an emotional reaction Buzz Aldrin would have to seeing this - his old friend, colleague, and fellow Astronaut, back in his work uniform
The Story behind the making of the spacesuit is unbelievable, never mind putting a man on the moon, the spacesuit itself was a major achievement. One of the recent 50th Anniversery doco's detailed the story behind the suit itself,no suit you have no moon walk, the materials they used in its design were revolutionary.....And who got the Contract to manfacture the Spacesuit you wonder, cross you't heart it was The Playtex Bra People.
instantly knew how excited he was gonna be for this
Adan Savage = The World's Favorite Super Nerd! 👍👍👍👍👍
I look at the suit, the suit looks back and asks me "What have you accomplished with your life"?
Saw it over the anniversary..absolutely mind blowing
This was such a fun clip to watch. From Adam's very genuine, child-like excitement and wonder, to the explanation of the level of detail that went into conserving the suit, to the simple fact that even Neil Armstrong's moon suit had a silkscreening mistake, there was a lot to enjoy from this. Plus, hot damn, I need to get to DC and see the Air and Space Museum again.
Nice piece. Adam pulls it off so well because he's so technically fluent. One thing I never understood was this: Was the basic pressure suit the same one used on the moon? Or was there a seperate EVA suit?
The basic pressure suit?
No, as I understand it, the same A7-L Block II suit was used for both launch and EVA activities, with the PLSS added for EVA use.
@@NoelKerns That makes sense, especially considering that NASA had to do everything possible to minimize the weight of the Saturn V payload.
There was only one suit.
You can literally see from his face that it's a kid in a candy store. His excitement makes me as a viewer that much more excited about watching these videos.
Awesome video! You’re so lucky Adam!
