Nice video review, Bob. I got one of these SideKars a few weeks ago and have quickly found how useful it can be. Still learning all the functions available, or getting used to them, but it extends the fun-factor of my KX3. Thanks - VE7JBT
Another great job being informative and entertaining. Wendy is great! The strangest thing happened after watching her weather report.. my take-off angle increased sharply. 🤔🙂 I hope to see more cool vids in the future. You guys are a good team. (Don’t delete this, the take-off angle bit was too damn funny 😉 .
i see the tab on the sidecar. rotating along side not folded away. and that works best with a rivet as the pivot. but folding the tab would add slop to the install.
Bob good job showing what the sidecar can do. You might what to say how much power the assessor uses when battery operated. That is what make the difference.
Thanks jerry. Trying to decide between KX3, X5105 and the FT 817. For SOTA and camping as i travel in small teardrop trailer. Any thoughts? I live up near Nevada CIty
hey guys , ive got a icom 5100, im trying to reach a Dstar repeater, im about 39 miles away from the nearest one. All i have is a slim jim dipole, so i Know i need a REAL antenna, any suggestions... IM in a apartment.
I have been asking the HAM community for a few years , does this side car, or any program or SDR system allow you to enter non programmed text on a key board and then transcribe/encode and transmit as CW through the KX3? It's incredible that I can't get a straight answer on this.
So where is the review of the Sidekar? PSK, RTTY capability? Logbook funktion? Showing the SideKar in action? Compared to the PX3 more lines, I believe up to 80 caracters, right? CW capability explained insted of just saying it won't let you cheat? About the weather girl, and the burping, just cut it out. You can be funny and informative without burping and click bait girly girls. We are mostly men and appriciate apretty lady, right but a review is not the place for this. Just my 2 cents.
Not thrilled with the objectifying of women, especially when my teenage girls who are interested in ham radio watched the video and weren't happy about the "move the camera up here, my eyes are up here" routine. If you want a men's only video channel, then, no problem. But, what do I tell my daughters?

Shel over at QRPworks said they changed the design and fixed that issue.

You know, thats the big thing I forgot. The unit uses very little power and won't be detrimental to most batteries.
Great video Bob...Happy New Year from down under. 73s VK6MMB Manjimup Western Australia OF85bs

Curious what you ended up with? I have a line on a used KX3 (complete package) and I'm having a hard time trying to talk myself out of it.

Yes it does.
What happened to the blonde, the one who was wearing the headset? My vote is for her in your videos.
She got a real job.
Great news for her!
Okay, I know this is an old YT but..what is this thing for? YOu have a key. YOu can decode. All in the KX3. More trouble than it's worth?
Would that also work on the KX2?
Yes. They have a kit for the KX2.
Yay Wendy!
haha - is that your GF? She's outta your league - kudos
