    I think Mazzer, being an italian company, will always kinda go for those notes. Here in Italy we grow up with strong moka and espresso.
    Sure they are an international company so they know people in other places may prefer clarity and acidity, so they probably try to give you some.
    But I'm sure when they develop burrs they can never completely leave behind the body and mouthful they remember since they were kids :)

      You are almost certainly right. For so called old fashioned espresso Mazzer would be perfect.

    Great video! How is the espresso burrs for filter coffee.
    I am getting into filter coffee so wanted to discover this field.

      Thx for watching. If you like more body in your pour over, you can use espresso burrs. If you are chasing the clarity, you need burrs that produce less fines. SSP MP can be a good solution if you only want one burr set

    Seems like less fines on the HU burrs. Some people MAY prefer the Mazzers for espresso it did sound pretty good. It depends on what you're looking for and what type of coffee you're making too!

    Nice but do you think the extra burr costs are worth it?
    Also what are the nice glass cups you have your filter drink in ?

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  8 місяців тому

      Thank you. The answer to the first question is tricky. What is extra clarity worth for you? I would say for most, mazzer burrs should be fine. Maybe if you buy ND with 1 burrset, you can invest in ssp burrs.
      Glass cups I use are from Orea. A bit pricey at £20 per cup but I got them as a gift for Father’s Day.

      @@mycoffeeshow111 Hi, yeah i know most of this is subjective and a big rabbit hole. stil on a NZ , not been tempteed enough for ND yet. As you mentioned , since its taken them so long to get to this , i am supprised you dont get an option to purchase the extra burrs as an add on.
      ill have to go looking at nice cups for a chrissy pressy. thanks

    Hey have you tried to compare espresso with milk with mazzer stock burrs vs ssp HU?

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  8 місяців тому

      I haven’t. Probably the results would be similar but less obvious the more milk you use. I only drink oat milk which by itself also affects the flavour.

      @amourb7133 8 місяців тому

      Yeah I only drink soy milk about 3/4 of a small cup so like 150ml in total including the 40g shot . Just wondering if it worth the “upgrade” ? Did you notice a difference in body between the two?

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  8 місяців тому

      @@amourb7133 you can notice the difference in espresso, a bit less body and more clarity from HU. For milk based drinks I don’t think it’s worth upgrading.

      If you know what you are doing it should be relatively easy. Just need to remember that each burr set has a different 0 point and HU can produce less fines than Mazzer so possibly the so called window is smaller.

    If you wanted to be super pedantic (which is all we do here anyway) you could start using Ember mugs/cups to keep each coffee the same temperature. I find their lowest setting is almost cool enough

    I'm really struggling with the Niche Duo. I've been using it for a month with the Espresso burrs but I cannot get consistent results. After I find the right size, next time I try to grind that same coffee the setting no longer works and I have to waste more coffee. I'm using freshly roasted specialty coffee, hence the coffee is not the problem. Also, I find concerning having to grind medium roasted coffees at 1.5 as that means the grinder is incapable of grinding light roasted coffee. I feel like I've wasted almost £700 for a grinder which is not meant for proper espresso.

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  6 місяців тому +1

      Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right. The solution to the second problem might be recalibration (should be explained in the manual). With a bit of luck that should solve the first problem as well. ND is a very capable grinder. Please keep me posted. Next step would be burrs alignment. Also, check if the burrs are sitting nicely inside. Good luck

      @guelfo83 6 місяців тому +2

      Hi. Thanks for your reply. Niche told me to ensure the screw that holds the lower burr is tight, which it is. I’ve removed the burrs and cleaned the grinder. Then I’ve reinstalled them and tried again. First 19gr of coffee grind size 1.5 produced 41.5gr of yield in 22sec. Second coffee same weight and setting produced 43.5gr in 23 sec. The slight variation is acceptable to me as I guess tampering etc play their part. I’ll try the same coffee at the same setting (maybe 1 as 22sec is too fast) to see how it goes. Still concerning that a medium roast needs to be at 1.5 as definitely a light roasted should be grinded at a lower size hence the grinder would not handle it.

      @@mycoffeeshow111 I’ve had a look at the manual but I don’t understand how to do it 😭 To me, it sounds always the same so I’m unable to tell whether they are touching. Is it normal that the hopper goes below 0? I thought it should stop at zero, but mine can be turned past the zero, up to a black dot on top. Is it just mine?

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  6 місяців тому +1

      @@guelfo83 I suspect your real zero is well beyond the 0 on the scale. You can slowly keep moving beyond your zero and listen. At some point you will hear like chirping noise. That is where the burrs are touching. Just do it slowly.

      Theoretically re grinding the coffee and less even particles distribution and longer grinding process . Most grinders do have that issue to some degree, but with Niche you can see it clearly. Also some mess as beans can jump away from the grinder. .
