Thought exactly the same when I watched the original a few days ago lol. But Ray Romano is from Queens so it totally makes sense hahah.
The whole ratatouille bit was just a joke about how Cug doesn’t have a chin, like the guy from the movie. He’s fine with it tho, its kind of part of his brand lol.
its easy to take hits on the chin when you dont have one.
I think his nose is making his chin look even smaller. 😅
He looks like if every white character in 3D animated movies were real. Not just Ratatouille.

All the sandwiches that Cug makes is on the absolute best bread. I live in a tiny little town in west Texas and we just don’t get bread like that. I’m always jealous of his sandwiches and the main part is because of the bread.

There is nothing like a real Italian hoagie. You can only get a good one in NYC or South Philadelphia. You need the right Italian roll and the best cold cuts including "gabagool" = cappicola, sharp provolone, pepper ham, genoa salami (or soppressata), prosciutto and sometimes the "goodagine" = cotechino, sometimes the mortadella. add sliced tomatoes, lettuce, hot peppers, onions, oregano, heavy on the olive oil, maybe some hot pepper hoagie spread on the side (like Talaricos)
Or, South Jersey. I got plenty of good hoagies in South Jersey.

WOW - yes I hear that!! Sounds like at my house in Ohio last week!! My dog was terrified! And I got mini-ponds in my backyard! I definitely could hear that! LOL
Eggplant has a purple rind. The inside is cream colored. After you egg and breadcrumb the slice and set them to fry.they absorb the oil some then you drain on paper towel..the inside never turns purple. Always take.the rind off.

The clothing and hats are probably promotional hats and tshirts with the Deli logo? but not sure. If it is a popular touristy business...a way to advertise their business and make some money on the side.
They didn't do the one sandwich everyone thinks of when you think New York , Pastrami on Rye. Pastrami on Rye from Katz, which will run you about $35, and they put about a pound and half of meat on it

My favorite sub or - hoagie Has to be either Philly cheesesteak or zesty Italian with salami, capocollo, pepperoni with provolone cheese, lettuce, cucumber, and olive oil, and Italian spice
