I should have mentioned that your build will be different depending on how many boards/points you have. A 4 board build will be different to a 3 board build for example. You won't start off with a 4-5 board build (if you ever even get that far), you'll make your way up to it...making copy pasta builds even more difficult for this system....there are just so many variables. Come hang out @ twitch.tv/kanonxo
Well, this game will be bit more like PoE in this regard, compared to D3. It might be worth thinking about the order when you theorycraft the level 100 build. Feels like noob bait to plug crucial resource or survival related board as the last one, making your character feel bad for the first 85 - 90 levels, until you actually reach the critical rare nodes and plug a huge glyph to that 4th board and such :D. And yeah, it's possible prioritising QoL board and pluggin it first, may make the build suboptimal on higher level and there might be respec required on 90 - 95+ to alter the board connections, orientation and pathing. Probably not always the case though. In PoE people usually solve this by adding multiple trees to PoB, which show you how the build author progressed through levels and it sometimes includes a respec at some point. Would be nice to have similar functionality in the D4 skill builder - switch that you flip to see level 50, 70, 90 and 100 version of the build for example. That offers that extra level of guidance people will need to follow the build.
Wow, great explanation for those of us Dwarves who haven't "delved too deep" into D4. I am really psyched for the depth of this game now. Thanks again Kanon, MORE! Also, this really makes me realize just how Legendary and Rare drops will influence class builds. Good thing we have account-based items!

That's pretty cool. I just hope that "unoptimized builds" won't turn out to be trash in the endgame, so that you are pretty much forced to follow a guide if you want to complete the content

I find it engaging enough past 50 to keep a sense of progression for sure. It’s fun to plot a path trying to hit up certain rare nodes while getting to that legendary node. Thinking bout the path to take while considering maybe needing more dex, etc to activate bonuses of the rare nodes. I like it.
Is there any end game bosses? Like super difficult, high risk, hogh reward bosses? I just don't want to grind paragon to kill the same stuff we have already killed 30 times
even though game is released and I have seen several other content creators explanation of paragon boards this is by far the best explanation I have seen. Thank you for the guidance.
Nice video man. At first I didn't think the Paragon Board was gonna be very interesting, but over the last week I've been getting deeper into it to try to figure out which direction to go with my Sorc, and there's definitely some tough choices to be made.
The difference in power between people that know what they're doing and people that don't will be immense. Which is another reason why I think respec costs should be pretty low. There are going to be a ton of people that mess up their paragon boards and run into a progression wall.
This is such an informative video! I knew most of this before, but it really woke me up to look at what boards I want to pick up in what order because going back and changing the first board will be a hassle!
Pvp has been described as a slaughter fest instead of balanced dueling. While the board obviously matters, I doubt they matter 'more' for pvp. If anything, they matter 'less' compared to pve, due to both the numbers of players participating and time spent doing so, and the balancing of pvp itself. That doesn't mean we're not going to see elitist pvpers talking about how crucially important paragon boards are, but be mindful that the loudest people often are not the standard candle they present themselves as, and frequent talking points are not more important than straightforward or easy mechanics that don't require as much thought. Paragon boards will be a core component of the overall build (also including skills and itemization), but builds require cohension between all core parts. They are all important.
@@HeartsOfGreyit's not a slaughter fest. I think it's pretty balanced you have to hit your buffs and crowd controls better and dodge. If you don't it will be a slaughterfest in pvp.
Fantastic video, I had no idea how complex the system was. I just hope Blizzard understands this and makes any respec costs minimal, because it's gonna take a LOT of experimentation for all of us to figure this stuff out. I do not want to find out at level 80 that my build is critically broken and have it cost something insane to fix it. That would give me flashbacks to D2 where you had 1 respec and god forbid you naively used it too early.
You actually get 1 for each difficulty, but that system was meant to be if your getting wrecked in your new difficulty you can change things up but I've had to scrap more than a few d2 characters because even after respec I wasn't good enough
Have you had a chance to look at going into a 7th board on Rogue? I copied the poison trap uber lilith build and noticed that they stopped at 6 and then filled in stat puffers for the 6 sigils. I am currently reworking that to push the 7th board, and grab tons of elite damage and some extra vulnerable nodes.
As far as i understand, the stat cost of activating the second rare effect from the glyph doesn't go up with the number of boards you have, but rather with the distance that specific glyph is from your starting board. As such, placing the first 4 boards in a cross pattern (†) seems optimal. Cheers
Something else easily missed is that the four stats do different things on each class. The defensive benefits are the same (Strength is always armor, Int resist, Dex is dodge, Willpower is +Healing), but the other effects vary by class. Most people probably expect Dex to be crit chance, which it is on Barbarian, but Rogue gets Crit Chance from Int. I suspect most classes will want to go with their Main Stat (which is +Skill Damage) and whatever stat gives crit chance. So Rogues will probably do mostly Dex/Int. Rogues won’t want to invest in strength because the only thing Strength provides is armor, making nodes that require strength less desirable.
The paragon boards should also have a min to max amount of nodes as well as being organised differently within set rules of how distant they have to be from eachother etc.. They keep their legendaries and rares but, like rerolling a helmet for an improved stat (defense 7-11), the amount of INT, DEX, WILL etc. Nodes and inaccessible slots/paths are also arbitrary (Example: Deadly Ambush board = 200-250 INT nodes). This will 100% guarantee that no 2 players can the same because 1:No 2 boards are the same . 2: The path to the desired glyph is also varied . So if you feel like making a spreadsheet, it will be for this specific character and whatever boards you want him to use.
One thing to note is that it may be worth unlocking additional boards just to use the stat point bonus of the gates to reach thresholds for rare nodes in the boards you do actually fill. It seems that both sides of the gate give 5 of each stat, meaning you get a total of 40 stat points from spending a single paragon point.
Finally, I understand the paragon board system thanks to you! This was by FAR the best explanation I have come across - Thank You so much you just got a new subscriber. Given the importance of these boards and the fact that the order of the boards are super important, Blizzard better not make changes to these boards willy-nilly because that will definitely fk everyone up. Any system that promotes uniqueness among players is a good thing.
I really like the potential complexity. My only hope is that blizzard didn't make a lot of mistakes with the overall balance. I know there's bound to be a broken mechanic or two but let's hope it's to a minimum.

A lot of people have talked about this already, but none have stressed exactly how important it is to pay attention to as much as u did, which I appreciate a lot since I was preaching the same thing. Glyphs are almost always more powerful than Legendary nodes, so they ought to be ur focus going into each board on most occasions. That being said, completely saturating ur Glyph stat within the radius might be a very key strategy earlier on as opposed to progressing towards the next board and the one after that as it is certainly a bigger spike in power immediately. There is a lot of depth to this paragon system and will certainly define D4's endgame like nothing else could. Very good video, great job
Um I may have e missed it somewhere but this is all good and all but can you refund your paragon points at any time or reset them if you messed up? Hope so because this looks somewhat complicated and I'm sure everyone is going to be changing stuff constantly. If so will there be a cost associated with it?
At 15:00 when you are talking about the requirment for the glyph's additional bonus do you have to have purchased said required amount within the radius or does the required amount just have to be within the radius without purchased?
building is going to be completely based on your drops, so i wouldnt worry so much with paragon when we already are familiar with it from other games, and to be honest just focusing on one tree is going to be just fine, i wouldnt talk down to players about their experience. as you just said it isnt cookie cutter so there will be a lot of trial and error. but ultimately just like any blizz game there will be the best builds that rise above
Did you make that spreadsheet? if not wondering if we can get a link. If so have you also made ones for the other classes? That condensed info is amazing and i really wish i had that for other classes. TY so much for the vid
Season 1 here blizzard sorc Lvl 99 soon 100 I connected the dots on Paragon boards by myself and I like your explanation I see it just like you. I have respec once and might do it again to save those points I got while I progressed and my char already doing over 80-90+ dungeons with so much dps.
Thanks for such a detailed explanation of the paragon boards! This was a really informative video. Not gonna lie, the whole paragon system is pretty intimidating to me, so I really appreciate all of your hard work & I know I'll be learning tons from you in the future. Keep it up!
This video basically emphasizes that there will definitely be a fixed/optimum build for the Paragon Boards. There is basically the illusion of choice if you want to play a meta/good build. If you wanna do your own thing that may be severely underpowered, then you can do whatever you want. At best, you can tweak a few points here and there. - He says at 10:30 that you have to plan the order of the Boards because of stat requirements. - Then at 14:31 he says that you need to plan your glyphs based on the stats provided by each board, this means that each glyph has an ideal board to be placed on.
Hands down THE BEST Paragon detailed video I've seen. You have earned a new sub 😊 If you have these Google Sheet(s) to share so we don't have to make our own, that'd be fantastic!
Hey! at 15:00 you say that a rare node requires 40 int when 39 int is available --- sooo blizard is trying to lke trick us into getting a buff that isn't actually atainanable?
So it sounds like prioritizing glyph nodes for specific glyphs is more important than legendary nodes? Should you be selecting boards based on glyphs you don't have but hope to find eventually?
I see that not all gliphs can be put in a specific node because there aren't enough required attributes nodes in radius in that specific position on that specific board, right?
Question, as far as we know... Will the boards be available right at 50?We don't have to like find them and unlock them? But the glyphs will be something we have to find? will they be dungeon rewards or random drops?
Thank you for your time in this video. It helped me a lot. I even go for Druid instead of Rogue now that I know that he can stay in Werewolf form. I wish they could make a druid not so fat :)
I feel like, as you level, you get some amount of stats. So it's not that you have 0 willpower. And as far as I can tell, the board just requires you to have x number of stat, and not x number of stat on the board, unless specified otherwise (like with the glyphs)
Yeah, stats being sourced from both gear, Lilith statues, AND the board itself, I think is what will allow the Paragon Board to offer a lot of flexibility in build-crafting. A lot more flexibility than what most are even thinking. This will provide the min-maxxers with a lot to play with when it comes to theory-crafting, but casuals will be able to dump points into without having to think too much and still get decent benefit.
You can swap ‘em whenever. You start getting somewhat attached or sunk into glyphs when you finish a Nightmare dungeon and sink dungeon XP into a glyph leveling it up. But you can move glyphs around whenever.
Great video. What are your thoughts on my question to devs? Question in regards to Paragon board. Legendary node “Enchantment Master” says enchantments 20% stronger. How does that apply to let’s say ice blade’s enchantment where 40 seconds in cooldowns spawn an ice blade? 20% reduced cooldown?
What I'm very much interested in to see. Is would you be able to Re skill your board. Imagine you later on get acces to different stat roled legendarys. Wouldn't you want to completely Respec your character a certain way?
Very informative video, I knew paragon boards have some depth but I didn't expect it to be this deep, for someone who loves to fiddle with builds and experiment this is really cool.
oh my god hahahhaha i didnt knew that by taking that top node i unlock a new board! THANKS A FREAKING LOT! Also this tip on the glyph radius is amazing aswell!!! Thanks!
From the sound of things it maybe better to look at OFF Stat boards for your class first, then near the end of you paragon look at you MAIN Stat as by that time you will have plenty of it added along the way. Not to mention we don't know if our first Glyphs will come from a PoE type quest reward IE: pick one of x number of Glyphs, as well as if you are looking to get as many Glyphs as possible that takes you to many boards.
Very nice explanation, where can i get my hands on the paragon board spreadsheet you are using but for druid ? Also what if in very late game i drop a BIS piece, when i go and equip it, it changes my stat balance and now suddenely i lose my rare node effect beacuse that BIS doesnt have strenght (for example) and i drop below the X amount of strenght needed for that node ? it sounds really bad. Do you know if we are able to reset points that we assigned to those paragon boards ?
I've been dutifully studying the paragon boards for a couple classes but unlike you I'm assuming they aren't correct and just heading into the game with as much knowledge as I can acquire so i can quickly adapt when the time comes. The huge missing link to all this is when, at what frequency, and at what quality will we start acquiring glyphs and is there anyway to influence this. We know they drop from nightmare dungeons and that might be all the control we have, but maybe there's a chance they can acquired from bushy tree bounties, timed zone wide events, world bosses, or possibly from event chests. Maybe this will be revealed when the review embargo drops. Thanks for the video
Legitimate question here. Will ancients/uniques have stat upgrades on them ? Like for instance can a chest piece roll with like +50 for int or will power. And if it does, does added stat count towards your paragon total stats ?
Could an argument be made for a 2 board build and to max out the bottom board for a boost to all damage and defense then be able to grab the legendary, all rare and magic nodes on the 2nd board?
I've noticed that in the calculator, you can place a glyph into a socket without having to first travel to the glyph. You can then branch out from the glyph slot. Is that intended? or is it just to help show players what the glyph would look like? That would eliminate ALOT of unnecessary points if that's how it actually works.
I had no idea they made such a big thing of it. This information is very important. But I can't help but wonder how much all of this will mean ultimately. It still seems like when all is said and done, everyone going for the same type of build will end up with the same boards. Either organically with just a bit of variation because some were more efficient than others, or because they just used some online tool to calculate it for them.
Then you can min max your gear and finish everything in the game.. side quests, achievements, etc. And maxing our paragon board on average was said to take ~150 hours from starting the game. Why should there be any left for you if you don’t care about the major content like seasons or Alts 😅
I have the same question. D3 put me in the mode of grinding out paragon points, but after while they seemed unfulfilling. I do like the D4 paragon system, but like you posted in your question, what's left? Grinding for perfect in slot items?
@@greathoundAZ yes that’s what RPG’s and Diablo are about. But again unless you’re like this guy and throwing away large aspect of the game.. season 1 comes out very quickly, and you have Alts you can make and play.
@@greathoundAZ also I don’t think you’ll be “grinding” for paragon too much. Remember there’s 3 more world tiers past what we played in beta. By the time you play through those and fame up gear you’ll probably have most your paragon boards.
@Kanon Can I utilize multiple attachment gates" (the ones giving +5 to every stat) to connect several paragon boards together with 1 board into which points are being heavily invested? Alternatively, after going through an attachment gate, are you lock out from further investment in the prior boards?
im not sure i understand your question but...you can connect to 1 board at a time and there is no confirmed info on whether you're locked out or not but i am pretty damn sure that you can still continue to invest in older boards. Would have to see in-game to confirm though since I haven't tested that.
@@KanonXO Thanks for the reply. My theorized 1st chosen board is getting used to connect to other boards at the top, right, and left side gate connections. I was just trying to validate that structure is allowed.
Question!! For Barb rare glyphs that says while wielding a mace/axe/etc. it gives you certain extra bonus, does that mean as long as you are equipped with that type of weapon you get that bonus or only when attacking with that certain weapon you get the bonus??
so i wonder immediately.. that it seems paragons isn't account wide like how it was in Diablo 3? and let's say you select a node and a path but later on decide you wish to change it.. can we reset the board?.. or even refund specific nodes?.. (or is this not known yet?).
Great video. One thing all the content creators I think might not be considering is the fact that you start getting paragon points at level 50, and as you level up, won't there be more stat points natively on gear? Or are the stat requirements specifically from the surrounding nodes of the glyph/rare nodes? What am I missing? Will it really matter that much to take a board you absolutely want later on in the game instead of as early as possible?
How are stat points from gear factored into this ? Is it 1:1 ? I've got +5 on all my pieces of gear totalling say 40 Str, but I need 50 to unlock a skill..do I then only need to acquire 10 Str from the paragon board ?
Somehow I missed the rotate board option on xbox (maybe its not there? Idk), but now I understand why my board is different from all these build vids despite being the same board.
This is such a fantastic video that I think you should rename it so more players can find it when they're searching for a comprehensive Paragon tutorial. I actually had trouble finding it again because the title has no reference to D4 or the paragon system lmao Not a criticism, just a suggestion! Keep up the great work!
Would it be best to max out the points in the first paragon board before going on to the second. Is there a limit on the number of paragon boards that can be connected?
I should have mentioned that your build will be different depending on how many boards/points you have. A 4 board build will be different to a 3 board build for example. Can you provide access to your spreadsheet and link to the builder? I'd love to make this for other characters.
Thank you for the awesome explination. I love that you use excell to help with the planing.
Did you make that spreadsheet? if not wondering if we can get a link. If so have you also made ones for the other classes? That condensed info is amazing and i really wish i had that for other classes. TY so much for the vid
Is that Excel sheet available that has the stats per board? Or do you know of a place that has that info? Extremely helpful!
Season 1 here blizzard sorc

I connected the dots on Paragon boards by myself and I like your explanation I see it just like you.
I have respec once and might do it again to save those points I got while I progressed and my char already doing over 80-90+ dungeons with so much dps.
This was such a good video. I've been looking for something like this.
Great video. I didn’t understand paragon boards very well after watching others, this one made it click. 👍🏻
Thanks for such a detailed explanation of the paragon boards! This was a really informative video. Not gonna lie, the whole paragon system is pretty intimidating to me, so I really appreciate all of your hard work & I know I'll be learning tons from you in the future. Keep it up!
thank you so much
Any chance you’re willing to share the spreadsheet as well? Mighty helpful for people.
You have earned a new sub 😊
If you have these Google Sheet(s) to share so we don't have to make our own, that'd be fantastic!
Fantastic descriptions and concise information. Thank You Sir
Hey! at 15:00 you say that a rare node requires 40 int when 39 int is available --- sooo blizard is trying to lke trick us into getting a buff that isn't actually atainanable?
A rly great explanation that makes me want to dive into the parangon board myself, not following a build on a website
So it sounds like prioritizing glyph nodes for specific glyphs is more important than legendary nodes? Should you be selecting boards based on glyphs you don't have but hope to find eventually?
Hey been following your vids since the lost ark days. This is a great introduction thanks.
Will you be making a bigger spreadsheet for all classes with rare nodes def and off?
This info is HUGE. I'm really glad you taught this.
Thanks man!👍
I see that not all gliphs can be put in a specific node because there aren't enough required attributes nodes in radius in that specific position on that specific board, right?
Why do we have to focus on the rare glyphs within the radius? What about those nearby but outside, if they are nice?
Question, as far as we know... Will the boards be available right at 50?We don't have to like find them and unlock them? But the glyphs will be something we have to find? will they be dungeon rewards or random drops?
Thank you for your time in this video. It helped me a lot. I even go for Druid instead of Rogue now that I know that he can stay in Werewolf form. I wish they could make a druid not so fat :)
Hell nah the thicc druids fuckin rock
Great vid Kanon. One question: can you change Glyphs on the fly or are they in place for ever?
You can swap ‘em whenever. You start getting somewhat attached or sunk into glyphs when you finish a Nightmare dungeon and sink dungeon XP into a glyph leveling it up. But you can move glyphs around whenever.
Thanks for sharing this. Can you respec the paragon board? Looks like the gear you get will heavily influence your board selection.
Thank you dude, saving this to come back to in a few days!
Wow amazing video great detail and easy to understand. Gained a sub for sure!
Clear and concise, thanks a bunch !
Not to mention we don't know if our first Glyphs will come from a PoE type quest reward IE: pick one of x number of Glyphs, as well as if you are looking to get as many Glyphs as possible that takes you to many boards.
for Rogue, what's the dps formula, how is every bonus multiplied or added together, and what are the differents buckets?
In the game, you have to make your way to the glyph slot before you can actually unlock and insert a glyph
I had no idea they made such a big thing of it. This information is very important. But I can't help but wonder how much all of this will mean ultimately. It still seems like when all is said and done, everyone going for the same type of build will end up with the same boards. Either organically with just a bit of variation because some were more efficient than others, or because they just used some online tool to calculate it for them.
so once you max out all the 220 points.. whats left? What if you dont care about Seasons and new characters.
@@lasvegastiki88 I like the way you think! Looking forward to D4!!!
Make me rethink the application of gems in my gear!! Great video, many thanks!!!
@Kanon
Can I utilize multiple attachment gates" (the ones giving +5 to every stat) to connect several paragon boards together with 1 board into which points are being heavily invested?
Alternatively, after going through an attachment gate, are you lock out from further investment in the prior boards?
im not sure i understand your question but...you can connect to 1 board at a time and there is no confirmed info on whether you're locked out or not but i am pretty damn sure that you can still continue to invest in older boards. Would have to see in-game to confirm though since I haven't tested that.
@@KanonXO Thanks for the reply. My theorized 1st chosen board is getting used to connect to other boards at the top, right, and left side gate connections. I was just trying to validate that structure is allowed.
Keep up the great D4 content. You're my favorite Karaoke singer. Country roads, take me home!
Well explained and nice to follow. Thank you so much!
Question!! For Barb rare glyphs that says while wielding a mace/axe/etc. it gives you certain extra bonus, does that mean as long as you are equipped with that type of weapon you get that bonus or only when attacking with that certain weapon you get the bonus??
On the second board why go to glyph node and not the legendary cheap shot node?
How do you like the steel series mmo mouse kanon?
so i wonder immediately.. that it seems paragons isn't account wide like how it was in Diablo 3? and let's say you select a node and a path but later on decide you wish to change it.. can we reset the board?.. or even refund specific nodes?.. (or is this not known yet?).
Do we think it is better to get more boards or better use the boards we have.
I wish I have found your video first....would have saved me hours. Thank you!
Sleeping on something that we have barely any information on?
Give us some time Kanon!
I think you are right, glyphs specifically say from surrounding nodes while rare node just say a total amount.
Extremely helpful video. Subbed. Thank you for taking the time to upload this content! Happy Gaming!
This is the best D4 video out right now.
Great video, thanks for breaking this down for the Diablo 4 community! Awesome job!
I actually had trouble finding it again because the title has no reference to D4 or the paragon system lmao
Not a criticism, just a suggestion! Keep up the great work!
just subscribe and look through his videos lol
@@pickle4289 I did just that! I meant for other people who don't know about his channel or videos.

Do you have a spreadsheet for stats per board for Barbarian?
Fantastic explanation, a masterclass! Claps to you man!
Agreed. Exceptional explanation. He make it very clear.
How can you choose a glyph on a board that has more intelligence if the board the glyph is on doesn’t have the intelligence doesn’t make sense
Would it be best to max out the points in the first paragon board before going on to the second. Is there a limit on the number of paragon boards that can be connected?
