It‘s cool that you keep it real.
While i was in Germany as an exchange student, my friends back home somehow thought i was out all day on these amazing trips but in reality, my days were usually as yours. I always had my water bottle by my side, i had my cookies around and would spend the day chilling and watching shows. For me it was awesome. Though i never used the subway, i would go to school on my 🚲 everyday, which was extremely relaxing for me, it was some peaceful alone time to enjoy the beautiful naturalistic place i found myself in.

i swear i learned Chinese from 1st grade to 9th grade and only 6%of everything i've learned got in
I feel like for Chinese and Korean, you kind of just have to get the feel of it. So reading and watching with Chinese/Korean subtitles helped me the most. It took me years to get chinese though. But after awhile you can guess how to read a word even though you don't know how to write it. The shape lets you guess the sound + meaning and then within the context of the sentence you can guess what it is. Japanese and English have a ton of rules. You just have to practice forming sentences by writing and forming sentence structures from workbooks. With all languages though, I feel like I only really learn when a word/phrase comes to mind and I search the dictionary before using it. So for me, I just keep thinking in the language I want to learn. If I have a particular grammar or vocab I want to learn badly, I'd keep using it everywhere I go. The general rule is, if you can use 1000-1200 words a day, you would have intermediate fluency. If you can use 2000 words a day, you would have advanced fluency (though you may not be native). So if you can study just 3 words a day and absorb all their related expressions, you'd be in a very good place in 1 year. I watched videos and picked 5 common words a day for 6 months before starting a new language. After that, getting to intermediate level was a breeze even though I didn't formally study any grammar before.

I realized my love for learning languages once I got really into anime in high school. I already watched anime but then I became a hardcore fan and started to watch Japanese frames, then I got into k-pop and watched Korean dramas. Now, I'm watching dramas in Mandarin and Russian too. I have a dream in becoming fluent in at least 4-5 languages by the time I'm 25. (I'm 19 on December 14)
