The It Girl (Ruth Ware) - Book Review | The Bookworm

Welcome back, bookworms! In this video I'll review a thriller about a young woman who tries to find out the truth behind the murder of her best friend from collage - who died a decade ago.
This is another detective thriller by Ruth Ware (The Lying Game, The Death of Mrs. Westaway). In this one, we follow Hannah who had an awful tragedy at collage: Her best friend and roommate - April - was brutally murdered on their second term. A man who worked at the collage was tried and jailed for the murder, and Hannah tried to move on, getting married to her collage crush and is now - ten years later - expecting their first child. But then the man who was accused of April's death dies in prison, still claiming his innocence. And when Hannah is contacted by a reporter who believes there might be more truth to uncover - Hannah starts doubting everything she thought she knew about the case. Could she had made a mistake in her police statement? Could an innocent man have been in jail for a decade? And could it be that one of her friends was actually responsible for this horrific crime?

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't my favorite thriller, but it was a fun read.

Good review. The It Girl was okay but really tired of reading about pregnant characters, especially in thrillers.

I agree, but I find that here she at least didn't have the "i'm more important because i'm pregnant" trope.
