I remember vividly finding these guys in 2009 on UA-cam .. This is every bit the Fusion powerhouse that needs to continue to exist just like The Aristocrats ..
Amazing! Genius..at the beginning pf the solo remains me to the one and nly Allan Holdsworth. Increíble performance. My respect for the Sax player..as well
It's GREAT to see them back again!! Wohoooo!! I wish to hear their version of "Thieves in The Temple". @tobias Thank you so much for posting this, man!
I feel like nowadays Guthrie is focusing more on his jazz/fusion projects, or projects involving him as a side man, rather than being on the spotlight as a "guitar hero ", I don't know.. I may be wrong
Well while it has been kept rather private he is currently doing lots of work in and around film soundtracking and touring with Hans Zimmer. He worked on Dune, the new Top Gun and Army of Thieves recently. I wouldn't say he's taken a step down but he is certainly working in another field of the industry. Oh and of course he's been touring with Hans Zimmer and now with the Aristocrats again.
@@Owtyg23 I found this unbelievable. Googled it, and an interview stated "if you need someone to play "sand" on guitar, Guthrie Govan is your man". I now believe you and I'm no longer surprised. I guess genious does float to the top after all.
@@lemiureelemiur3997 If you've watched dune, the scene that house atreides step off of their main ship there is one bagpipe before the whole orchestra begins, the bagpipe is actually guthrie!
Haven't Guthrie been doing that for his whole career? I've never thought that he had some sort of need to be in the spotlight or to be viewed as a guitar hero.
@@Arch_Stanton. yeah, his last 'big thing' was the Aristocrats, and he's still playing with that group. I've seen them live, insane musicianship. I always had the impression that he's more interested in the music than in the guitar, it just happens to be the instrument he masters.
The first lick of guthrie like a Holdsworth

It looks like he got a Fractal FM9
@@Arch_Stanton. that’s what I was thinking too
@@michaelguise4923 probably because he brought it when he toured in India

when did he dye his hair grey? it looks awesome
I think he's Gandalf'd, from Guthrie the Grey to Guthrie the White :)
anyone know what foot controller Guthrie is using? almost looks like an FC12 for the axe fx
I'm pretty sure it's a fractal audio FM9. That's what he was using in his latest aristocrats tour
I'd much rather see this than the aristocrats, love when Guthrie plays jazz
I have only one word: ctm
I don't like this.
