Great video. The frog is one thing I want to get better at skipping! Happy to see you post.
You just gave the best skipping lesson on you tube . Thank You
Skipping is a technique that I have wanted to master for a long time. Your video is by far the most informative that I have seen. Thanks!
The pimp slap was the best and funniest way to get the point across! Never laughed a skipping video before.
Just noticed that Nick casts with both hands. Frickin' amazing
I hear you that Guy is an outstanding caster. Unbelievable but bro he lives on the water he's had a lot of time and practice.
Good stuff Nick. I’ve been skipping for a year. I’m pretty good at it right off the bat, but haven’t tried all the ways your doing. Anxious to try them. Thx for your techniques and sharing them. Not very many so called pro teach this much technique. I’m 69 years old and always like learning new stuff. Keep the faith 👍🥸🙏
Thanks Bruce, I think I will do an updated advanced level skipping special this summer.
Sir I am from India, never seen such a wonderful video with tons of information before. You have stuffed all basic ideas about a Bait caster reel in this video. Keep rocking 🙂🙏
Awesome video ,,, you have given so many tips on how to skip a lure fishing under docks. Applauds YOU ..
Not only did you help me with skipping, I also learned some things about just fishing!
🙏🏽
Great added info on skipping not mentioned in other videos.
I found you early in my fishing journey. You have taught me so much. I cant believe your channel has not taken off yet. Keep it up my guy. You have helped me land alot of fish.
Thanks bro, my channel got shadow banned years ago. Not an issue though my other platforms are big too and I’m a full time fishing spokesperson
I was wondering what happened. It was like you disappeared. Glad to hear about your success. You have tons of knowledge.
Great video. The line management tips are awesome.
Thanks Nick.
That was the best instructional video I’ve seen. Going to have to check out the rest of your videos. Trying to get better at skipping and now with your tips I feel like I will be a lot better. Now you got me itching to get out there as soon as possible. Thanks!!!
Wow. Absolutely the best skipping lesson on UA-cam. A master class for sure. I get it now. You broke it down and explained it perfectly!! That is some serious juice. Thank you
Glad to help, thanks Kevin!
Totally enjoy hearing his explanation on skipping. I roll cast when I’m pitching either hand and do a lot of backhand so I may be. Able to skip with some practice. But it’s so windy today and cold so I’m not going today.
Best video I’ve seen on skipping thus far.
Thank you, great explanation! You are not only an excellent fishing master, but also a good teacher!
Thank you!
Hey,….. loved this video on skipping frogs. Best skipping video I’ve seen yet. Didn’t know there were so many variations on skipping. Have to get out on the water and start practicing. Very excellent video. Thanks so much!
Thank you!
Found your video to be very educational! Thankyou for all your expertise
Great video! You make it look easy like Sunday morning.
this video is so underrated ! amazing video sir!!
Thank you bro!
You make it look easy. I can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing. 👏👏👏
Always appreciate these long super informative videos
🤙🏼 thank you!
Nick, this is the kind of video I need to see. Thanks.
Saw you on Debo's. I subscribed and hit the bell. UA-cam suggested this video. Surprised me after what you had said.
Very entertaining and INFORMATIVE video! 👌
Hope 2 see you at the Modesto Toyota event! The kids from the San Joaquin Bassmasters should be there and ready to lend a hand👍
Fantastic, see y’all there!
Holy shit are you a left handed person using a right handed reel!?
It makes me so happy when i see this. Or when a right handed person using a left hand reel.
I cannot take fisherman seriously when they do it the wrong way.
I’m ambidextrous, thanks bro!
Hey Nick, I saw this video a lot of times and I´m trying to improve my technique with frogs flukes and jigs for my sea bass fisheries thanks for the tips! looking forward for the next clips! keep on the rigth stuff!
I’ve followed you since 2015 and you’ve taught me allot. I thought I was decent until this video, didn’t realize there were so many skipping options! I’m about to level up, you’ve given me something to work on! Thank you for years of great content!
Appreciate the support brother!
Growing up fishing in Alabama learning to skip docks is a must. Lots of pros have their own way of doing it and excessive practice is a must. Many of the pros have their own form that works for them. There is no one set way to do it. Thanks for showing how you skip.
You are the master Nick... I really like the tape trick... thank you IF.
Absolutely amazing and helpful! Thank you!
Great video. You really explained it well and I will be practicing.
Excellent demonstration
Nick is the dude. I appreciate this. Keep it up my man.
Thanks bro, will do!
a great video and very in depth. thanks for doing it
Great video Nick. You’ve inspired me to commit to becoming a better skipper this summer.
How’s the skipping now?
This is like watching David Copperfield , I love topwater lure and blow up.. and I just saw this .. can’t wait to start learning
Been waiting for this video from you. Thank you.
Absolutely, thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Pimp bass slap? 😂 got it!

incredible! Thanks!! and especially for revisiting frog hook sets!!!
What a great video even I can understand it. I love how you took your time expaining the mechancs, thank you
Absolutely bro, thanks for watching!
This is the best skipping video I've seen deep dive into the mechanics of the cast.👍👍👍🤏🤏
Absolute clinic! Great vid!
🤗
Great video. Learned a lot. Can’t wait to try it out on the water. Thanks.
Keep me posted, thanks!

Glad to help!
@@InformativeFisherman now i can do skipping with high confident. thanks
Good job. Great instruction
Thank you!
Your video is Great! Nice job!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the lesson you are a great teacher
Thank you!
Great video man
Thanks!
I generally fish really snaggy shallow water (2 feet). Darwin Australia chasing barramundi. Because of this and what you mention at 12 minutes I learned to reel left handed as I cannot cast well left handed. This way I can cast and be immediately onto the reel.
Still trying to perfect skipping in general, lol. Thanks for the video bro.
Thank you excellent video
This is such great info
Thanks bro
Nice Vid Informative man-boob Fisherman 💪
🤣
Frog's! My favorite violent reaction lure! can't wit to hit over hanging tree cover at my bass water
I've been pretty good at skipping, but hearing it described with "mending" just made a lot of other things click in my mind 🤙
I would love to see the boat too. Lol. I like that thing
Good lesson
Good stuff
Nice video! Also can you do some striper and salmon videos? I really enjoyed some of your older fishing videos when you fish and give some tips on what your doing. But thanks you have helped me become a better at fishing! 🎣
I have a striper one coming early next week and yea one new salmon coming and two more striped bass 🤙🏼
👍 👌great information
Amazing!
Haha 90s pimp smack! Good analogy bro!
Thank you
Cara que top esse seu pitch skipping
Mantap master 👍
Hey man thank you for the breakdown and tips. Great video! How do you rig the swim bait or fluke? I guess I missed that. Also what bait do you use and hooks please. Thanks again THIS video taught me to skip!!
I Texas rig my flukes on 4/0 EWG, thanks man, that’s awesome!
Do you use a tungsten bullet weight or only the 4/0 EWG? (Weightless?)
Hi Nick, loved the video! I've tried to skip from my kayak but it seems so difficult. Any tips for that? Did I mention that I loved this video? You are amazing and I've learned so much from watching you.... thanks from S Korea :-)
Thanks Matt! Are you standing in the kayak? If sitting it can be much more difficult. I would suggest really practicing the mechanics I showed but in the air and progressively move lower
Great video! When do you know which color frog to throw and what flukes do u throw (color, size, hook, etc.) Thank you!
I use the Yamamoto D-shade with 4/0 BKK Chimeras
Hey nick that is the best dock , frog skipping video I have ever seen and your casting skills are absolutely outstanding nick . I have medical issues and I haven't been able to go fishing for two seasons and it really sucks. But that's what happens when get near 60 yrs old. Hey nick i I want to purchase a Lew's skipping reel to make it a little easier on me tell me your thoughts. GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
How did it go with that reel? And thank you!
Sir, could you please do a comparison of skipping jigs with a curado DC vs a standard baitcaster. This type comparison has not been done and it has never been addressed on you tube. Due to two totally different braking systems, people are confused about the ability of a DC reel to skip as good as a traditional baitcaster brake system.
Sorry just now reading this, so I’ve played with the DC reels and in all honesty I feel like the hinder experienced peoples abilities. That being said, I love to have them when some in inexperienced in the boat. I myself had to shut all the breaking off on them when I pick them up 😆
@@InformativeFisherman thanks much
Thanks for the great video. What kind of boat are you fish on, can you show us what it looks like?
It’s a customized 1980 Ranger, yeah I can do a video on my boats soon
Question, the answer may be in your video, But let ask, when your lure is down 6 inches plus or minus. Do you have a dot on that looping to release the lure? Say you start the swing at 6:00 pm and end in upper say 11 am , do release at 7 am. Or similar example of the best place to release the lure. Thanks hope that makes sense!
Bravo
My trouble seems to lie on where I should initiate the skip. Should I want the skip to start right at the dock or overhanging limb or rather closer to me, skipping all the way to the target. Also, are you aiming at the initial point of impact or are you aiming at the intended target at the end of the skip. You're a fantastic teacher and I sincerely appreciate you sharing so much!!!! 👍
Typically it’s about half way to the target no matter how close I am. Rewatch from 28min in again it might help a bit more and thank you!
Aim at your target. Keep your eyes on the prize and see your skip through the target. You want your lure to hit midway between your target / point of entry and yourself. Just get out on the water and keep practicing. Watching Videos help, but time on the water teach you and help correct your mistakes. If you have a go pro record yourself and see what you are doing wrong.
Pretty pup onboard
Thanks so much for the informative video! I am a short guy, I think 7’4” is a bit too long for me, are you over 6’? I might try 7’1”
I’m 6’6” rod length has little to do with height
How do you skip them from a float tube all of this depends on standing and being vertical. I’ve had to adopt a spinning reel from float tubes because it’s just very difficult to not backlash on a bait caster when you’re actually sitting down in the water
I’ve done it but yes I agree it can be more difficult
The dog reacted to the hook set real quick.
I've had success skipping jigs into dock posts and the fish hits it on the fall. Is there anything about the knock (or ping on aluminum docks) that entices the fish? 🤔
In dirty water I do think it helps
💯
I don’t know if you will answer my questions, so far no response from you. When you skip do you look or aim at a spot on the water for the lure to hit or do you just aim for a spot under the dock or tree??
Big homie, wassup with a bass charter? 💰 still need my trophy bass pic
Lol, I might auction off a trip a month but I’m no guide. I’m way to competitive 😆
Assuming you have 2 rods then?
You said that's a private lake do they own the water
At My Quail LakesThe Bass Don't Really Get Under The Docks it's Weird I Get More Fish Up Tight To The bulkhead Wall
I’ve got them under the docks back before they dyed the lake. Now the fish are blind to UV
@@InformativeFisherman Ya I Have Been Fighting The Homeowner Association For Like 7 years Now i Am Getting Tiered Of Them Not Even Listening To Me And Others About That Stupid Dye Chemical Crap i Found Some Info That Says That if You Get 90% of The Homeowners To Are To Get Rid Of the Homeowner Association You Can Thanks For The Videos Stay Safe

@@InformativeFisherman Love your channel dude!!
@@billyjin2062 🤘🏼
@@InformativeFisherman hey man I just wanted to let you know that I just made the first successful skip cast with a jig in my life on a baitcaster after applying the stuff I learned in this video. You did a great job explaining it I've watched a lot of videos but this was the one that seemed to tie things together and make a click.
@@billyjin2062 that’s what’s up! Keep after it and it will become natural in no time!
Great video, this is by far my downfall. Outstanding video as always.
Is like to do a backhand in tennis
what boat is that? Thanks
1980 Ranger
I tried to skip and I got a terrible backlash.
Yes, you should fish a fluke weightless
Shimano or daiwa
This is such a good thing to know fishing man made lakes, fish may spend it's whole life by that dock. When you get to natural lakes, not much different. Instead of docks, bass stick to shoreline cover to avoid the muskies in the deep water. I don't know any natural lakes that have huge bass, because naturally they seem to max out around 5 pounds, when mixed with all species together. Maybe there's a natural lake in Mexico, California or somewhere like that with huge fish. I just don't feel the same fishing impoundments as I do in natural lakes, one lake feels stupid after you do the other. The lake is naturally a part of the experience. Fishing surrounded by concrete walls, docks and spillways is sort of like shooting fish in a barrel.
Never mix these species in a stocked pond or small lake, It's wrong to stock these fish together. You are basically fishing inside of a large aquarium, compared to a glacial lake they have no room to live together. You can't possibly even make a lake this big, for what they needed to cohabitate. What are people thinking the fish are friends ?. So many lakes have northern with bass, why both ?. I seen at least 50 of em like this on conservation websites, more except nobody can explain what they are doing. That's like putting goldfish with some piranhas, what will happen ?. Thousands of bass died, became food, maybe millions of bass. We all know who wins it's Northern. People are still learning how to even keep fish as pets, in the hobby fish eat other when we make mistakes. So, we humas don't know very much about fish yet. We think we know everything, but it's funny. We can't make mistakes with ponds, lakes and need more professional fisherman getting paid for science research.
Fishing is fish science, behavior of fish research and more people need to get paid for that, and this is how we learn fish behavior. We are very destructive animals, not very good at stocking fish or making artificial aquatic environments yet. Tournaments hurt fish, it's not good for them the be caught over and over. None of us are very good at making lakes, we can do much better for sure. Maybe just go out on the ocean if you guys want intensity in fishing. Of course you can overpower the fish, it's just a bass and this is what I see is bass being literally janked by the jaw out of the water it looks so bad. I use a real net, a conservation net for all fishing I do and it's totally better than what you guys are doing on TV in tournaments.
Who needs to land a bass bare handed, why ?. That's just a bad rule, I think cause I can afford a net. They usually can be scooped right up, and it's very handy so I don't understand why you insist on breaking the bass jaw on TV ?. Bass blood sacrifice, maybe that's what you guys are up to. You killed at least like 6 billion bass over the last 25 years, nice job ?. Ritualistic Bass sacrifice, as long as we're having fun though right ?. The crowd is going wild when you hold up the fish sacrifice, OMG. It's gotta be something like this, this is like preferred species for whatever God you guys been sacrificing them to. Which God was it that liked Bass ?. Syrians sacrificed fish, regarded as the lord of the sea and guardian of the realm of the dead, to the goddess Atargatis and ate the consecrated offering in a communion meal with the deity, sharing in the divine power. The other option is Jesus, someone is making sacrifices to Jesus ?. I have no clue man why you guys are doing any of this stuff.
