Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
Guy stopped by while i was fishing the other evening.. it was about 42 deg right at sunset... he asked isnt it to cold to fish.. i said im not sure but its not to cold to practice... lol
Have watched more than a few of your vids. Your skill at explaining techniques in a manner that is understandable by non-professionals is unmatched. I am a fan!
I've watched a lot of skipping videos but this one really lays down the details gives you a lot of stuff to run over and practice and think about thanks brother
Thank you so much for the information Mr.Latimer because of you sir i was able to learn to skip 11 months ago with a spinning reel i have practiced for 11 months with a spinning reel so much so that im at a point now that i can skip from the bank to half way across the water , for christmas last year i got my 1st baitcaster so last saturday i went fishing and i noticed that upon my 1st 2 or 3 cast i was only able to skip 3 foot distance , im so glad i learned real fast from you sir. i wanted to thank you for teaching this ole boy to have fun with a baitcaster now i can go out there and really use my new googan baits rattlin chunk craw white pearl and strike king rage craw and strike king ocho pink and white and my new yum dinger next time im out on the water. Now all i gotta do is go out there and catch them.
Man...I love all your videos. New and old. I learn so much from you and am looking to get my first boat to get into some amateur tournaments this year, partly cuz of you. Just hard to find the money, but the drive is stronger and I want nothing more than to become a "professional" angler...keep on inspiring man....love you and everything you bring to fishing....
Brian, Thanks for this tutorial. I have struggled with skipping using baitcating equipment. I plan to follow your recommendation and switch to mono on a few of our combos. I have been using a spinning outfit for a few years. Having success. After having my heart broken last trip by not being able to turn a fish under the dock I need to switch to a baitcasting combo. Thanks again and God Bless! Regaards, Pastor Dan
Fished my first tourney today as a non boater on the back of another club members boat. Boater skipped under docks all day and finished top 3. I didnt know how to do this nor had the right equipment but now I have a base to start learning. I might be handicapped in the back but ima be able to skip under these docks after a bit of practice. Thanks BLAT!
I'm still very new with a baitcaster. Watching your casting techniques. Much of what you are talking about was way over my head. But I'm going to keep on following your channel until it all makes sense. 👍🏾
Shimano DC on setting four skips like a dream and I agree mono or mono coated or floor coated mono best thing to use this time of year. Good job congratulations on the little one.
Love the low down you're keeping it real right to the point keep up the great work I can't wait to see you winning the bass masters classic one day awesome job Have fun tight lines
Subscribed after watching a few of your videos recently (and seeing you celebrate after winning a Bass Championship). Beautiful. Your videos have an excellent way of explaining and demonstrating which speeds up learning. I skip baits all the time as I find it triggers Bass. Skipping with a baitcasting reel can still be humbling if you focus on a recent bad cast. I find that when the water has more than a couple of inches of waves, skipping ends. Thank you. Wishing you well.
Just from watching your videos and how you carry yourself I can tell you are going to be very successful in life not only fishing but everywhere else along the way keep on teaching like you do and keep it up for our youngsters congrats on the win
I try to do this skipping under my boat in the yard an my deck on the house. I’m good sometimes but I’m bad other times. But I love to practice. Great video B Lat!!
Thank you so much for the info B Lat! This is one technique that I DEFINITELY need to get better at, and your video is one of the best explained that I’ve seen! Anglers like myself really appreciate a professional like yourself taking the time to explain techniques to us and giving us tips to help with our fishing! Keep up your grind and can’t wait for more technique specific vids! P.S. Finally got me a White Bird casting today after watching your video and can’t wait to get it out on the water and see how it performs! Thanks a million brotha 👊🏽
Liked your video alot. You are a very good insructor .I've seen alot of videos about bait skipping. Yours was the best. It let me understand the basic principles. Ove been fishing for a long- long - time time .
Thanks Brian for making a video showing how to skip baits . NowI understand how . I'm going to practice . I. Tried to get Kyle Welch to make a video on how to skip baits but he never made one . Kyle can skip some baits he's good at it.
Awesome video as always. Lots of key elemental details. Thanks for the tip. Figured the bass by now would have been feeding on shad before winter. Still doesn't hurt to check addressed areas. Got a big tourney Saturday in NC. Gotsta have all the info I can get😎
Your arms were blocking the placement of the first time the lure hits the water. The location of the "first contact point" with the water is very important to achieving a great, long skip. Thanks and CONGRATS!!
Great informative video B Lat. I wish I could use this tactic but I fish in Canada so our boat docks are attached by criss crossing chains under the water anchored to cinder blocks usually. They do this so ice doesn’t rip out the dock out in the winter. I probably could skip docks but with all the chains I might aswell just throw cash in the lake lol.
Great video bud. First time I ever heard not to use a big first but so true. Spinning rod and a stick bait and graduate from there. Still not my forte but I'll get there
Good info brother. Hopefully after your big win the other day you can replace that broken handle. Lol. Glad to see the new guys making it. Congrats and nothing but well wishes your way. Keep the videos coming. I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for you!
Oh shoot I started skipping a jig under docks about a week ago I didnt know it was the hardest I think I'm doing pretty good so far, but this was a helpful vid thanks
how would you feel you see someone trying to skip under your boat? Nothing on you Brian this was a great informative video. Learned a few things. You see someone new trying to skip dinging up your boat. lol
Why do you use a hand trolling motor on your tin boat ? Btw I’m glad you do some of your vids in a tin boat it shows every one you don’t need a 60-80k rig to catch fish.
Really learn a lot from your instructions, thanks! What was/is missing in this video for me (newb with BC's) is 1) how much rod or ttp loading does one do or, how much force and 2) where in the wind up and pitch does one release the spool/ line?
Christopher Cable-Cheval there’s not a mathematical answer to that. Your point of release depends on distance and how low you need to keep the bait to the water
Haha good point on boat position. I literally try to put my boys that are with me on the boat on the best position possible and if I’m in a good position and they are not I’ll rotate the boat so they can have fun too
I’ve been wanting to learn how to skip for awhile but scared to waste a bunch of money on fishin line lol but mono is a great idea gonna give it a try.
Been wanting to learn to skip for years. All I can say after watching this very informative video, is man great beard!

Thanks for the advice been getting a little better everyday since I’ve watched this vid the first time!

You make casting look so smooth and easy. Thanks from Canada
It just takes time. You can do it too
B Lat always dropping knowledge and excellent tips! Keeping that rod tip low to high and commitment is key. Love the football analogy too.
Been doing this for years. Learned how to do it as a kid. Didn’t know it was a thang. Great video as always.
Shimano DC on setting four skips like a dream and I agree mono or mono coated or floor coated mono best thing to use this time of year. Good job congratulations on the little one.
Excellent video, been uncomfortable skipping. Planning on picking up the rod and giving it some patience. Thanks Brian!

Best skipping video I have seen to date from anyone way to break it down.
But can you teach me how to skip visits from my inlaws?
They can't touch you on the water!
@@ScuffedEngineer My mother in law is terrified of boats! ... My father in law always wants to go with hahah
@@ScuffedEngineer why am i picturing this happening in my head
Hahahahahahaha😂
@@MerchantMonk sounda like a decent father in law lol
Man, you are just the most practical and informative bass pro. Thanks for sharing Brian much appreciate.
Great intel. Thanks for the video Brian.

B, you hit the nail on the head with the weightless senko type worm. Plus its a great bait to throw back there weightless. Great video!!
Great tips! I’m going fishing this week from an aluminum boat and a kayak and I’ll be practicing skipping from them.
By far the best skipping video I’ve seen.
Great video! Lots of good info. Too many just fish. You were constantly teaching. I appreciate it.👍🏼🎣
I’ve been looking for a great video like this for skipping
Great video Brian. Thank you for helping us learn.
Awesome video Brian this is by far the best and most detailed video I have watched about skipping docks. Thanks!
Congrats on Seminole B Lat. great teaching videos, keep them coming plz
Awesome Vid again, I was always told to keep my arm close to my body and keep that thumb on that reel lol! Thanks again Bro!!! Sharing is caring!!!
Great job Brian on keeping it simple and easy to understand 👍
Liked your video alot. You are a very good insructor .I've seen alot of videos about bait skipping. Yours was the best. It let me understand the basic principles. Ove been fishing for a long- long - time time .
I grew up using the open face reels with my pops but would love to start trying to use the Bait casters perfect video my brother😄
Nice presentation Brian. Very informative. Thanks.
Seriously one of my favorite pros, thanks for the tips! Keep up the good work, and God bless!
Thanks Brian for making a video showing how to skip baits . NowI understand how . I'm going to practice . I. Tried to get Kyle Welch to make a video on how to skip baits but he never made one . Kyle can skip some baits he's good at it.
good video.... good detail, reel settings etc... I think a top water frog is the beginners choice
Awesome video as always. Lots of key elemental details. Thanks for the tip. Figured the bass by now would have been feeding on shad before winter. Still doesn't hurt to check addressed areas. Got a big tourney Saturday in NC. Gotsta have all the info I can get😎

Great video, thanks for sharing the info!!! Now it’s time to try and hit the water while it’s all still freakin my mind!
Great video, Brian. I started with my spinning gear on this, but have haven't made the transition to my baitcasting gear yet.
Glad I found your channel, new subscriber. Good useful information.
Thanks Brian really struggle with backlash and not being smooth. I seem to position my boat ok but rush to much
Great pointers man! Can’t wait to try em out!
Oh shoot I started skipping a jig under docks about a week ago I didnt know it was the hardest I think I'm doing pretty good so far, but this was a helpful vid thanks
great tips b. lat! always good info and great "deatails".
Great instructions, starting out low and ending high is great info, going to try it next time out.
how would you feel you see someone trying to skip under your boat? Nothing on you Brian this was a great informative video. Learned a few things. You see someone new trying to skip dinging up your boat. lol
I wouldn’t keep a boat on a public waterway
Heyyy,! That's the rod Jon B designed. Cool to see a pro using it ha!
Why do you use a hand trolling motor on your tin boat ? Btw I’m glad you do some of your vids in a tin boat it shows every one you don’t need a 60-80k rig to catch fish.
You literally answered your own question
Goood info. I just need to adapt to my kayak. Tight lines. Stay safe.
Smart teacher, great instruction
Best video on skipping on you tube!
Really learn a lot from your instructions, thanks!

I’ve been wanting to learn how to skip for awhile but scared to waste a bunch of money on fishin line lol but mono is a great idea gonna give it a try.
Better update this segment to “The Champion’s Details”. 👍🏻🔥👍🏻🐟
Very informative video! Thanks
Thank you for the info and the technique i cant wait to try it out!
Great job as always !
Thank for the pointer. Live your videos.
Great video buddy. Really enjoyed it.
I love you dude, always so helpful. Can't wait to try this.
You put out some good videos!!
Great pointers. Great video!
Thanks for the lesson. Very helpful
To reduce backlashing or blowing up pull out your line to where you think the end of the cast would be then put electrical tape on the reel spool.
Thank you, trying to teach myself this, not working out. I'll try some of your pointers.
Great video. Can I ask what swimbait and color you have on the back of that chatterbait? Thanks
