Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can."_*
This great LP blew us all away and cover art by R. Crumb paved the way for underground comix . There is Janis / r crumb / grateful Dead connection as housemates in the Haight ?!

This was bat country! Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us, and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car. And a voice was screaming, "holy Jesus, what are these goddamn animals!?" No point in mentioning these bats, I thought. The poor bastard will see them soon enough.

In NZ I only heard Piece of My Heart. On an AM transistor radio under my pillow, late at night. It wasn't until a couple of years later, after I had left home that I was introduced to this masterpiece record. I did buy their first LP on the strength of PoMH, but I had no reference point, and didn't understand it.
This! Robert Plant is a combination of two great singers, Steve Marriott from Small Faces and Janis Joplin. Plant was a fan of Small Faces before forming Zepp and has actually covered Small Faces songs live, check out "Come on children"
"Kick Out the Jams" by MC5, "Cactus" by Cactus, "Vincebus Eruptum" by Blue Cheer, "Who's Next?" by The Who, "Forms and Feelings" by Love Sculpture, "Budgie" by Budgie, "Surrealistic Pillow" by Jefferson Airplane, "Third of a Lifetime" by Three Man Army, and "Overkill" by Motörhead are good albums to start with
Why are they terrible? I am a drummer of 30+ years and I can tell you this is what bands sound like without the overproduction of today. Taylor Swift doesn't really sound like that. If you are into country, Jason Aldean's band doesnt really sound like that. Bruno Mars doesn't sound like that. This is what they really sound like. Mistakes and all. This is actual musicianship.
This album changed my life in '68.....I'm 75 now and still get a buzz off it!
Same here!
Me too
I'm 65 and lost my virginity listening to this song. I love janice always will.❤❤
Don't know why Janice Joplin ever left this band.
I'm 77 and I will listen to Janis to the end. She left too early. 🎶
