from watching your videos the thing about the FFX13 series and the Metal Gear Series is that i would get completely lost in the Metal Gear Series but I would still want to know more about it!! With FFX13 i would get lost and not care anymore about it lol i just find it hard to understand and capture my attention at the same time

If I understand this correctly, it sounds like the only purpose of XIII-2 is to set up the plot for XIII-3, which could of just continued after the events of XIII (of course with a few changes), by adding in the event where Caius successfully "time-jumps" into the time and moment when XIII ends, and kills Etro. Right?

Thank you for the explanation. I've played this game and Lightning Returns (LR) back in 2014. I finished FF13 last week, and I am planning to play LR. I can't remember what happened in this game, but I do remember disliking it, and I don't want to replay this game just so I can play LR again.

I mean, this is LITERARY the most straightforward and overexplained story in the series and I personally love it and think it's one of the best. Etro saved the l'cie of their curse>Gates of chaos break>the possible futures expand and multiply almost beyond repair>the Yuels start dying on their 15th birthdays as a result>Caius, the owner of Etro's heart and the undying guardian of Yuel is too attached to her to let her torment go on indefinitely>He can only die if another guardian kills him and since Etro gave him her heart, she will die too>Noel refuses to kill his mentor>Caius uses the chaos to assault Valhala and kill the goddess himself since the power of her heart doesn't allow him to stab himself and die (he will just be ressurected instead. It has to be another guardian)>Etro imbues Lightning with powers to defend her>Lightning knows the battle loops eternally but she can lose so she asks Serah for help by sending Noel to her>Serah and Noel start solving paradoxes to fix the timeline but end up getting Yuel killed in the process every time>Caius senses that and can't allow it so he communicates with his past selves through the chaos in order to stop Serah and Noel>Serah and Noel eventually battle Caius in Valhalla and Caius forces Noel to murder him>Noel kills the godess and the unseen chaos consumes the world>Serah had also been blessed by Etro's sight like Yuel so she's the last seeress to die by time changing>Lightning learns that Serah died so she crystalizes herself in order to wake up at the right time to fight the chaos and the creator of all things, Bhunivelze>Caius achieves his goal and FUCKING WINS but his plans backfires ENTIRELY in 13-3 There. I didn't even have to read any datalogs. I had more trouble grasping the story in Patrick Rothfuss's book "The name of the wind" than I did with this game. :/

Now onto part 3, why did Lighting fight this thing Bhunivelze? I get it that it was a God, but wasnt that the God that gave Lighting her powers? How did Lighting even become stronger then the God of that entire universe? While I wait on your answers, I will be reading the wiki articles. PS the most simple story of the series was between 6 and 9. FF8, FF7 and FFX was complicated. This game had soooo much backstory kinda like Halo. I just got Lightning Returns for some reason and listening to this story, it's no wonder the JRPG is failing nowadays, their stories are getting more and more incomprehensible. Sounds like the story was an afterthought to the gameplay crutch of time travel... Hope the next one isn't a story written by a high school kid who can't get a girlfriend!!!
Good video, thanks. I really liked FFXIII, the story was pretty over the top but it was coherent enough, I thought it worked well. With XIII-2, though, I think they went a bit too far. Fal'cie and l'cie, I could handle that, as story elements they had their own consistent logic. But in XIII-2 it's like the whole game universe now resides in some sort of abstract, semi-spiritual plane of its own. I know a lot of that can be put down to the whole time distortion thing, but it still seems a bit too nonsensical to me. I haven't played much of LR yet, but from what I've seen it seems to be taking the abstract stuff even further.
Greg Young Dissidia is its own separate canon, just like every Final Fantasy game is its own separate canon. Dissidia just borrows heavily from the other canons.
Actually dissidia ties into the story of the first final fantasy game, well it is hinted to connect to it in the end of the story mode, and even more so in duodecim

Played around 92% of FFXIII - uninteresting, boring and annoying. FFXIII-2 - played just a few hours... a little improvement over first one - so-so. Im about to get into FFXIIILR and i hope its better... but honestly the only hope for FINAL FANTASY is FFXV and FFVII Remake.
