In some mythologies humans are just suffering the side effects of gods arguing, as so long as we continue worhsiping they don't give much of a shit about mortal affairs (as far as I know the Egyptian gods didn't really interfere much unless one of the others did something first if you don't count the fact that supposedly every branch of their royal family was descended from the Sun God's grandson after said god was forced to abdicate because his daughter in law wanted her son to be the crown prince) but in others like the Greek as you mentioned, the gods got bored easily and loved to use humans as playthings to kill time, or vent sexual frustration, despite already having spouses.

As I kept reading, my mind was being blown open wide because it felt as if though I discovered a hidden secret. As much, as I wish such a kind meta-concepts came to life, I had to conclude, the realization is one heap on dung after another, until they all combined becomes an EVEREST OF SCENARIO FECES.
Everything makes more sense now thank you XIII was far to confusing and got rather complicated. I did like XIII-2 the best out of the 3 games but a do have a thing for Caius that voice oh my lol
Okay to be fair to the people who hate Etro: She DID half-ass the whole 'giving humans sentience' thing and in filling the first human with the power of chaos she kicked off an endless cycle of reincarnation, but also gave her literal godlike powers which being a human she CAN'T HANDLE so whenever she uses them, which she CAN'T CONTROL, her life gets shorter and shorter to the point that each incarnation of this seer dies VERY young. And when Etro realizes "Oops, that was a bad idea, I can't actually fix that," she instead takes ONE guy, makes HIM immortal, tasks him with being the seer's guardian and instills him with a lot of loyalty to that seer, which is kind of fucked up because as I may have mentioned, she keeps DYING BEFORE SHE TURNS 25! Then in an added effort to save her own ass, she rips Lightning out of the timeline, setting off a sequence of events so convoluted that it literally ends up destroying the actual concept of time itself. So, Etro has an issue or twenty.
Unfortunately, most lore and answers that were not explained in FFXIII and Type-0 were SUPPOSED to be answered in Versus XIII and the fourth epic game cross over, but since square decided to scrap FNC it is now an incomplete mess. No matter what I will still b bitter on the fact that we lost Versus XIII!! But at least the original director is bringing it back(?) in Verum Rex. I can't wait!!!
The original plan was to use one mythology in the different 3 games but it was never intended that mythology will be explain in later games. Type-0 is using the same mythology but the lore is completely different from XIII. And most of the lore in XIII was later explained in sequels.
Andres Marrero They do that with every story there is a divine being. I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s fine if they do that once or twice, but not all the time. It gets boring and predictable.
Thanks for the explanation. It’s -almost- like this whole idea was a really poorly thought out marketing ploy that they kept having to double down on as everything kept getting more and more convoluted.
NoctisIRL Lets be real: this is the result of a company trying to capitalize on a franchise idea, rather than to either tell an interconnected story or create great games. The whole FNC is what I mean by a marketing ploy.
nice work but the title makes it sound as though the whole series is based on the nove crystallis legend when it isn't. Objects known as crystals enable those who bear them to summon powerful beings. Kingdoms waged wars over such crystals and there you go.
Holy convoluted plot foolishness, and most of this is never clearly explained in the game so you spend 90% of the game confused about what's happening and why you're doing what you're doing.
@@creamncheese7761 This, I legit played through the first game, no idea who Lindzei pr Bhunivelze were and heard the name Etro but had no idea ot was actually something important. It's wild how much they didn't explain that is literally central to understanding the main plot. It's like if you played FFX and didn't ever say the name Yu Yevon, never told us what Aeons and Fayth were and only mentioned the Farplane in passing. We'd be at the final boss like, WTF is even happening right now?
this is like my fifth or sixth rewatch of this great video... four mistakes or possibly just oversights i noticed this time round were that the datalog in XIII1 says that Lindzei was ALSO tasked with searching for the gate which explains why they created Cocoon over Gran Pulse and set Gala up in Orience; that BOTH Lindzei and Pulse are considered "the Maker" and who the title refers to depends on whether the person saying it is aligned with Pulse or Lindzei, basically; that the first l'Cie were actually almost certainly Yeul's Guardians on Gran Pulse, who existed thousands of years before Cocoon was even a thing; and lastly, that Ragnarök (Fang+Vanille) saved Cocoon by fulfilling their self assigned Focus (to save Cocoon, paradoxically), which turned both themselves and the material they surrounded Cocoon with into crystal (not ice) almost instantaneously. Edit: thinking about this some more, i would not be surprised if the reason Lindzei created humanity in the first place was as a tool to open the gateway to the Unseen.
as another note, this video could really use some more explanation of the FNC's theory of self; that it's composed of three parts: body (karada), soul (tamashii), and heart (kokoro), the latter of which was mistranslated as "spirit" and led to the english translation of Lightning Returns making very little sense in some places. This is all explained in depth in this tumblr post: hikamitz.tumblr.com/post/111425210884/correcting-the-biggest-translation-error-in-the/ Fal'Cie and deities, except for possibly Etro, all lack a heart, as the heart is made from Chaos. Bhunivelze can manipulate souls (it's how he does all that shit to Hope), but the reason he can't resurrect Serah is because the heart is what gives someone their individuality/personality and will, and Bhunivelze cannot control the Chaos, which is tied to the bonds of love people have for one another. This is, also, why the "powerless" Etro could manipulate the Chaos to give humans hearts and allow their souls to reincarnate by surrounding them in Chaos and drawing that Chaos into new bodies in the Mortal Realm. Etro herself is also a good example of this split. Her body (specifically, her blood) was used to make humanity, while her heart* became the potent force allowing the guardian of Paddra Nsu Yeul to protect her across lifetimes, and her soul likely became the Crystal of Eos depicted in FFXV which grants the Lucis Caelum Dynasty their power. * While the above post states that the word for physical heart, shinzou, not the Chaos heart, kokoro, is used for Etro's Heart of Chaos, i am still personally inclined to believe that it is analogous to the human heart since it is the only part of any deity (prior to Lightning & Yeul at the end of LR) that has ties to the Chaos and she is the only deity (again, prior to LR) capable of perceiving the Chaos with the possible exception of Mwynn. Also, while the post states that in japanese tradition, the kokoro would be located int he abdomen, not the chest, in the FNC the kokoro (Chaos heart) is located in the chest/shinzou as shown multiple times throughout FFXIII3, so...
honestly, KH is probably a bit more complicated just because of the time travel in a single timeline, great explanation tho, laughed my ass off and learned alot about the Fabula Nova mythos
You do realize that KH has strict rules regarding the time travel, such as having to leave your body behind and only going to where your past self was.
Personally I like very complicated lores, like the ones from Evangelion or Bioshock Infinite. But man, the games really did the wonderfull job of not telling you anything. Playing a game so rich and so dense must be an achievement. The only time that FFXIII tells you about this is when you will fight against Cid, and he barely gives you info. The other info is scattered in the datalag. And a big part of it you only get it after doing sidequests. This is evidence that you need a good way of telling a story, not only a good story.
Yeah bro, just finished _Type-0_ and I like this whole mythos even more, but the damn game only gives vague answers. Like the real name of Gala. The game doesnt tell you, you need supplementary material.
Really cool video. I actually took time to read all the analects on all the XIII games when I played them and read some stuff on the FFWiki too... I really enjoyed the story tbh
there are quite a few mistakes here with wrong information but overall good job. for one bhunivelze awakens in FF 13. not 13-2, you see his crystal as a easter egg in the ending.
good video! you really did some research on this topic! =D I didn't even know type 0 was this closely connected to the Mythos! always though well that's one of those another dimension type thingy and so on
Did you do a video about how that coliseum in 13-2 works and the history behind it.If not then would you please make one when you have enough time?I enjoy your videos and think you narrate them pretty well. Thanks for explaining the FNC lore in a more understandable way.
you know how in type 0 the black turtle peristlium got there Chrystal stolen by the empire and shit like in the next cycle there where no Chrystal ? yeah you cant possibly tell me that in final fantasy 15 the Chrystal is not the same one then from type 0 idk what they did with the other chrystals but i´m pretty sure they placed them in new worlds
I never understood Yeul's connection with the unseen chaos, can someone explain this to me? I remember that her soul was splintered too many times that it overflowed or somethng
All I know is she was born with the eyes of etro and that with it come's with a price. For every vision you get, you loose a part of your life. When she dies, Etro sends her back to be reborn again with the same soul but different body hence different personalities. I don't know about her soul being splintered and overflowed but I do remember that there were countless Yeuls who died and served as keeper of the Chaos along with Caius while the Yeul that Noel liked stayed with him. Her theme music was so fucking sad. Anymore questions??
Believe it was something like a bunch of Yeuls dying and becoming a large infusion of Chaos (that temple in Lightning Returns after you find the white chocobo). There was also a difference of opinion between the Yeuls about killing Caius/saving him that made things worse. Think that's the gist of it
Bhunivelze didnt really want to kill all beings. He just wanted to rule everything. His only fault is making etro the goddess of death and rebirth. He needs to kill both mwynn and etro but it would practically end the existing universe. So he tried to create a new one. But he cannot see the souls of humans and without it, the new universe he will create will be populated with lifeless dolls. So he needed lightning to save these souls, just like etro has been doing. That's how i see it But what surprised me is that etro of ff13 got fed up by agito pulse and lindsey. Does it mean that the etro lindsey pulse and bhunivelze from agito are the same entities in ff13? I thought the ganes just share the same "backstory" but not necessarily same gods all along
'The rest of this story can be found in your local library under 'human history'' I don't recall leaning about the differences between l'Cies in history
a version of this updated with FFXV information and speculating how it ties into FNC would be really cool (e.g. are the Astrals actually Etro's eidolons? is sthe Starscourge connected to the Chaos of Valhalla? etc)
If Starscourge is indeed the chaos of Valhalla as you said, wouldn't that make Ardyn theoretically as powerful as the Unseen side and Noctis more powerful than him? Bahamut probably being Bhunivelze level
Really? Xiii-2 had weird time travelling Honestly I liked xiii bc of the adventures of the protagonist but also (important!) The visual design of everything
I'm almost done with ff13 and I have no idea wtf is goin on so I had to look this up. This is at least more coherent than the kingdom hearts convoluted shitshow of a story lol
Oh great, another person who claims to not get the KH storyline, just a question, did you only play the original games and not the Final Mix’s, because those ones make things more clear.
I think you just missed a little thing: when all went to shit and chaos flooded people went to Nova Crystallia and didn’t aged and no one was born for 500 YEARS. The lightning arrived in the final 13 days of the world as the savior
Thanks for the summary man.. I actually got so annoyed about half way through lightning returns, that I never even bothered to even look up how the story fit together.
I would love to see cool, in-depth stories/lore like this in the next FF's. I think it would also be cool if they made more FF's connected to this world and give more lore about the world. Maybe we'll see more in Type Next or a FFXV sequel or something, if that ever happens.
Great video man! Can you answer me a particular question? I see some people saying that Bhunivelze's new world is just a single planet, you say in your video at 11:00 that the new world is actually a whole universe. I believe that the new world is a universe too, since the term "mortal world" exists before Bhunivelze kills Mwynn, showing that "world" is referring to the universe since not even pulse, etro and lindzei where created at this point, let alone gran pulse and the humans. Still, where i can find a more clear answer to this? Showing that Bhunivelze's new world is a universe and not a single planet?
Hi, Dean! I just wanted to let you know that SM, one of the Philippines' popular malls, has confirmed that they would be showing Kingsglaive in theaters! I was not really expecting it but thankfully it is happening.
Thanks so much , I finally have a grasp on the nova crystalis series ... And I became even more certain that it's a mess from story writing ... I mean I used to think Kingdom Hearts was convoluted , but this is on a whole other level
XV: TOTALLY NOT RELATED XD No literally, XV's story has no conections to this except for the image of Etro. And im pretty sure the logo is of Lunafreya, i mean... Or Noctis falls in love with a dead creature thats TOTALLY NOT A FAL'CIE...
Great video. One thing though... Lindzei is male. His gender is never stated in the Japanese version but in the English version of LR he is referred as male by Fang during her quest, also the murals discovered during said quest describe him in a male form.
Dean Weiss Thx for replying, I love your videos. I guess you are right, the trilogy and Type never really tell us much about Lindzei, hell the only time we see it/him/her is as a freaking scythe lol.

9:24 well that was Vs XIII work but you know how that ended
Lesson Learned:
LOVE YOUR MOM!
Sorry for my broken english XD
English isnt my native language.
Jeez that guy was certainly a fan of "The gods are evil jerks! We don't need them!" theme which I always did have a problem with.
Andres Marrero They do that with every story there is a divine being. I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s fine if they do that once or twice, but not all the time. It gets boring and predictable.
LOL FINDING VENTUS FROM CASTLE OBLIVION love you already
This entire series is just everyone yelling
“YOU’RE LITERALLY LESS THAN USELESS”
At the gods
Thanks for the explanation. It’s -almost- like this whole idea was a really poorly thought out marketing ploy that they kept having to double down on as everything kept getting more and more convoluted.
Shupei G How is a fictional mythos a marketing ploy?
NoctisIRL Lets be real: this is the result of a company trying to capitalize on a franchise idea, rather than to either tell an interconnected story or create great games. The whole FNC is what I mean by a marketing ploy.
Great vid! 👍 PS: 12:17 with the secret ending of Kingdom Hearts Re:Mind?!
* insert Nomura evil laugh *
6:27 So Pulse is young xehanort
nice work but the title makes it sound as though the whole series is based on the nove crystallis legend when it isn't.
Funny you say that... Because in XIII Lindzei isnt even heard until Lightning Returns...
Also give Etro some love. *sorry if I didn't type it right*
this is like my fifth or sixth rewatch of this great video... four mistakes or possibly just oversights i noticed this time round were that the datalog in XIII1 says that Lindzei was ALSO tasked with searching for the gate which explains why they created Cocoon over Gran Pulse and set Gala up in Orience; that BOTH Lindzei and Pulse are considered "the Maker" and who the title refers to depends on whether the person saying it is aligned with Pulse or Lindzei, basically; that the first l'Cie were actually almost certainly Yeul's Guardians on Gran Pulse, who existed thousands of years before Cocoon was even a thing; and lastly, that Ragnarök (Fang+Vanille) saved Cocoon by fulfilling their self assigned Focus (to save Cocoon, paradoxically), which turned both themselves and the material they surrounded Cocoon with into crystal (not ice) almost instantaneously.
This is all explained in depth in this tumblr post: hikamitz.tumblr.com/post/111425210884/correcting-the-biggest-translation-error-in-the/
Fal'Cie and deities, except for possibly Etro, all lack a heart, as the heart is made from Chaos.
And such, the reason for crystal stasis comes out. He sleeps until the door is open and l'Cie are to serve eternally until the fal'Cie goals are done.
Wow... Thanks, finally a clear explanation.
Type-0 is like pressing the on/off switch repeatedly. Eventually it's gonna work, just gotta flip the switch 600 million times!
honestly, KH is probably a bit more complicated just because of the time travel in a single timeline, great explanation tho, laughed my ass off and learned alot about the Fabula Nova mythos
fucking "Finding the door to the unseen realm is harder than finding ventus is castle oblivion" i died
And then in planet earth, see Ancient aliens....lol.
Really cool video. I actually took time to read all the analects on all the XIII games when I played them and read some stuff on the FFWiki too... I really enjoyed the story tbh
Do you think Mwyn might be Cosmos?? This could proof that Final Fantasy exist in one giant multiverse
Isn't Etro the same etro that gave lighting her powers right?
there are quite a few mistakes here with wrong information but overall good job. for one bhunivelze awakens in FF 13. not 13-2, you see his crystal as a easter egg in the ending.
Thank you so much!
This makes Fabula Nova Crystallis crystal clear! :-).....
(no pun intended)
good video! you really did some research on this topic! =D
I didn't even know type 0 was this closely connected to the Mythos! always though well that's one of those another dimension type thingy and so on
So, XIII was responsible for XV and Type 0?
Yes.but the storyline is a mess.
Cool theory!
Think that's the gist of it
I love your videos so much keep on like this and you will gain a lot of popularity in the FFfans community :))
This is the best explanation of the mythos behind Fabula Nova Crystallis.
The ending just jinxed it.
This is the origin of Verum Rex.
I bet Gilgamesh is really good at chess.
Wow now this doesn't sound half bad. Why didn't we get this game instead of hallway-simulator-that-doesn't-want-to-make-sense-XIII?
WORST JOB EVER!!! xD jejeje great video dude, but how do you know that Fang and Vanille are Austrailian?? jejeje
Probably gonna have to watch a few more times to really grasp everything, but thanks definitely needed this, so damn confusing
I love type 0. Kowing that 13 is connected to it. Now im motivated to continue 13.
That's how i see it
But what surprised me is that etro of ff13 got fed up by agito pulse and lindsey. Does it mean that the etro lindsey pulse and bhunivelze from agito are the same entities in ff13?
I thought the ganes just share the same "backstory" but not necessarily same gods all along
'The rest of this story can be found in your local library under 'human history''
I don't recall leaning about the differences between l'Cies in history
a version of this updated with FFXV information and speculating how it ties into FNC would be really cool (e.g. are the Astrals actually Etro's eidolons? is sthe Starscourge connected to the Chaos of Valhalla? etc)
omg thanks, i only saw this now!
If Starscourge is indeed the chaos of Valhalla as you said, wouldn't that make Ardyn theoretically as powerful as the Unseen side and Noctis more powerful than him? Bahamut probably being Bhunivelze level
Loved all the "Hence the logo" bits. :)
Dude great video I was wandering how everything fit together.
Good stuff. I kind of enjoyed 13, but passed on the sequels since they got weird.
I enjoyed 13-2 more than I did with the ones lightning was in
+Beazy
Same ... :3
Same here!
Really? Xiii-2 had weird time travelling
Honestly I liked xiii bc of the adventures of the protagonist but also (important!)
The visual design of everything
Honestly, Dissidia and 012 should be considered a part of the FNC due to the similar people vs. Gods and fate theme
luv the rundown!!
Thank you sooooo much for this video!!!!!
Beautiful, good job with this
I'm almost done with ff13 and I have no idea wtf is goin on so I had to look this up.
This is at least more coherent than the kingdom hearts convoluted shitshow of a story lol
Oh great, another person who claims to not get the KH storyline, just a question, did you only play the original games and not the Final Mix’s, because those ones make things more clear.
@@Zelink108 they're still confusing af
you are close, but cocoon was actually made with the intend of destroying the world. so that the gate to the unseen world would open
I think you just missed a little thing: when all went to shit and chaos flooded people went to Nova Crystallia and didn’t aged and no one was born for 500 YEARS. The lightning arrived in the final 13 days of the world as the savior
Best video ever.
You finally gave me closure about all this FF13 bullshit
Thanks for this. As much as I loved FF13 and 13-2 the grand plot of things has always escaped me
holy shit I did not see all of that on the final fantasy game cover
I'll admit that the Gilgamesh Vs pulse in a game of cheese might've been the case, how else did Gilgamesh become so fricking serious in 15
Thanks for the summary man.. I actually got so annoyed about half way through lightning returns, that I never even bothered to even look up how the story fit together.
I love the little bit on FFXV, I for one still view it as an FNC game. Plus I've heard some pretty convincing theories about it too.
I would love to see cool, in-depth stories/lore like this in the next FF's. I think it would also be cool if they made more FF's connected to this world and give more lore about the world. Maybe we'll see more in Type Next or a FFXV sequel or something, if that ever happens.
That was a perfect exploration for this thank you.
I was not really expecting it but thankfully it is happening.
whoa I didnt know that. kailan ang showing?
in all of the SM malls? or just in specific places like SM MANILA or SM BICUTAN?
+Mara Joy Pineda Specific Cinema houses only. Mall of Asia is not showing it actually. check sm cinema's fb page. I think Bicutan is showing it.
+Royce Jose thnks
SLR guys. SM North EDSA is currently showing it!!!! :))
Thanks so much , I finally have a grasp on the nova crystalis series ...
And I became even more certain that it's a mess from story writing ... I mean I used to think Kingdom Hearts was convoluted , but this is on a whole other level
Amazing job man, really, the best FNC summary ever! #UnderratedEtro
Saved my life...thankyou
bet ffxv was meant to take place in a world named after etros
XV: TOTALLY NOT RELATED XD
No literally, XV's story has no conections to this except for the image of Etro. And im pretty sure the logo is of Lunafreya, i mean... Or Noctis falls in love with a dead creature thats TOTALLY NOT A FAL'CIE...
Wait THIS WAS THE STORY OF THE XIII SAGA?!?!
Thank you so much for this
Great video.
In short there's a taco and then there's pizza. One of them died. The end.
