this video is massively outdated. Safari 16 vs Chrome Version 107.0 puts Safari in the lead in both Performance and efficiency. With Chrome still not fully optimized for apple Silicon. Decent video though.
On my intel and m1 Mac safari was faster initially. But after using safari for a few days now…In my day to day work I mainly use high bandwidth apps like a CRM, FB ads manager, large Google spreadsheets, etc. And for these uses…Safari is MUCH slower. Safari is only faster when I’m just doing low bandwidth activities. Anyone else have a similar experience?
UPDATE: been using safari for a month now and have to say it is faster overall even with these higher bandwidth web apps. Especially since the most recent Ventura MacOS update. Using multiple tabs is seamless now. I don’t see myself going back to chrome for the foreseeable future
@@bpet2237 that’s awesome to hear yeah. I’ve been enjoying it actually. I must say theirs some quality of life features that I particularly hate about it on a desktop. Like full screen videos creating a new “Space” makes screen capturing an issue also moving tabs around is weird.
I just ran MotionMark 1.2 on Safari with my M1 Mac Mini 2020 and received a score of 3093.79. This is more than double of what I saw show up in the results on your video. For Speedometer 2.1 received 254 and 260.73 on JetStream 2.1. I realize this video was posted 9 months ago but still surprised to see the difference in scores I’m seeing on Safari on my Mac vs what was shown in this UA-cam clip. If anyone can explain why I received such a different result, I’d appreciate it!
Based on the scores in the UA-cam clip, I’m seeing that Safari actually won 2 out of the 3 tests, yet the presenter gave the edge to Chrome. Can anyone explain this?
Most people looking for these videos want a logical justification for using Chrome, since it is multiplatform. My dream would be to use Safari, but as I use different ecosystems, the Apple browser becomes limited, even though it provides some functions for synchronizing favorite bookmarks and password management, this works very poorly. Thus making Chrome the best for this purpose, but we also want to know how much performance we are losing by not using the native Apple browser. So this, for me, is more than a dispute.
@aryankumar87771 why should I code for miniscule 7% of user lol that's their problem trying to be different from others use something that work lol I'd u don't like it code it yourself.
Firefox is somehow, on Mac, even uses more memory than Chrome. It's great I admit but in terms of fast browsing it's worse than Chrome, in terms of "simple" appearance it's worse than Safari. And in terms of Mac optimism, it's worse than both these 2 browser

I'd Love to see a updated video with Mac os sonoma safari but overall good video.
Noted!
Safari has bookmarks and all are in the center under the search bar.
Both are buggy, some websites I need for work don't work on safari...
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Then which browser do you use?
that's bcoz the developer of those website's didn't pay attention for safari compatibility
