Had a 24 model for nearly a year now. Fuel use is very depending upon circumstances, as is the way with PHEV. Around our city we aveage 1 - 1.5L/100 km, driving on EV for a reported 90% of the time. Plus it drives very well as an EV. And the engine is mostly very much in the background if you need it - except under heavy load when it gets a little shouty. We did a country weekend away with a full car of family. Charged up overnight at home and destination. 5.6L/100 for 570 km distance, average of 74 km/h. Other longer weekend trips of 1050 km came to 6.2L/100 again with overnight charging at both ends. So it's not bad...but agree it's 7-8L/100 km in the 100 - 110 kph speed range without charging, as per the video test results. It's a good compromise I feel. No charger or range anxiety issues when towing our trailer in the country as well!
G'day it's Steven again Always look forward to your content I'm a big fan of Mitsubishi and the Outlander PHEV is a cool car, even though Mitsubishi pioneered PHEV technology and the first generation Outlander PHEV ( circa 2012 ) was really popular, especially in Europe, I can't help but feel that they should've perhaps have had a smaller capacity petrol engine with a turbo, though I suspect that'll be introduced in the next generation model. It appears that Mitsubishi is encouraging users to drive mostly on electric power and I guess most people can do that considering there is up to 84 klms of claimed range. It's too bad that the upgraded 2025 model isn't available during your visit, with upgrades including a larger infotainment system, ventilated seats, larger battery capacity and more power would've been good to see, but I guess I'll just have to wait for your review when it lands in Australia sometime next year. All the best and Merry Christmas to you!
Hi Steven, Thanks a lot. I'll aim to review the updated model as soon as it arrives in Aus. It looks like it'll be a nice evolution of this package. Hope you have a great Xmas and New Year as well!
Nice you were actually in Japan, if you had a direct link to Mitsubishi, you would have been able to test drive the new 2025 phev outlander revision. It has a larger capacity hybrid battery , the electric motors are tuned for more power, it has a bigger infotainment and cooling seats. I would like to see Mitsubishi improve on some things though , they should make a 6 cylinder inline mivec disel and gasoline engine with direct injection , put this in the triton , outlander and pajero sport as a ralliart edition.
@@warcrabcyber9908 The 2025 just came out and they said they didn't have one available in the period I was there. Will test it locally when it arrives 👍
It’s a pity they adjusted the battery warranty down to 66% degradation after realising the warranty in the old gen was costing them a bomb in battery replacements!
Always exited to see a video from Japan👍👍👍
Thanks. Agree - Japan is awesome.

Outlander is a good start model for Mitsubishi to become BEV in next version.

WRC need to get away from those artificial stages in stadiums....
Diesel engine is better compared to phev if use for long periods and heavy duty tasks job 😂
Yeah the old diesel was good for touring, especially if you're unable to recharge regularly on long journeys.
They should of made diesel with 6 speed auto or dct transkit
Yeah Mitsubishi got Delica D5 4wd diesel engine is the turf heavy duty for extreme off-road 6 speed manual transmission and auto also Delica L400
