    Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - On August 22, 2022, at approximately 1:18 p.m., Oklahoma City Police responded to the address of 2221 SW 78th St. on reports of multiple gunshots in the area. It was learned quickly that deputies with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office had exchanged gunfire with a person at this residence while serving an eviction notice. Two of the deputies were struck by the gunfire.
    As responding officers arrived on scene, they learned the suspect, 35-year-old Benjamin Plank had fled the residence in a vehicle trailering a boat. It was also learned the suspect had loaded several firearms into his vehicle prior to leaving. Benjamin Plank was spotted a short distance from the scene, shortly after the shooting occurred. Oklahoma City Police attempted to stop him on traffic when he refused, initiating a pursuit.
    During the pursuit, while travelling northbound on S. I-35, the driver discharged rounds from a rifle at Oklahoma City Officers. Two involved officers were able to return fire toward the suspect. No injuries occurred from the gunfire. The suspect continued eastbound on Interstate-40 from Interstate-35 ultimately exiting at Air Depot Blvd. The suspect stopped at the Tinker Air Force Base gate and surrendered. Benjamin Plank was taken to an area hospital to be checked for injuries and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a multitude of charges including first-degree murder.
    Both officers have been placed on routine paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. Benjamin Plank is accused of fatally shooting Sgt. Bobby Swartz and wounding Deputy Mark Johns. Johns has since been released from the hospital. Court documents show that Plank also shot at but missed a third deputy.

      I was involved in a similar situation. I was a Marine Corp MP at Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico in the early 70's. I held 2 Puerto Rican police officers and a naval personnel at gun point at the main gate.
      The short of the long is that this is a federal property and these police officers are now out of their jurisdiction unless the law has changed since then.
      The 2 police officers that I dealt with, became a civil rights case in Puerto Rico. Both lost their jobs, one got 5 years in federal.
      I hope that this doesn't become an issue at trial. This perp needs to fry.

      @@golfnut2965 That's pretty much BS. When law enforcement in on pursuit, there are no jurisdictions. Who ever is on the lead, leads. See this video again, MP didn't intervene, not their biz. There're plenty of videos of police getting into military installations, one of the most famous one was on that US Airforce base where the suspect got killed while hitting a parked F18. Not a "new law" or whatever, this has been like that since 1776. Tell you even more: it's illegal for MPs to arrest civilians. So,. only the police have the authority to pursuit and arrest civilians, even if it means getting into a military base which they are not always required to ask permission for.

    • @leok7193
      @leok7193 7 місяців тому +1

      @@mentalizatelo stop talking out of your ass. jurisdiction IS different and is handled through MOUs and reciprocity agreements between jurisdictions. Not every adjacent jurisdiction has agreements with all adjacent ones, Indian Reservations are a common example. People get prosecuted in the jurisdiction where they (allegedly) committed the crime, so MP's CAN arrest civilians, dumbass, for anything from unauthorized access, speeding, unauthorized possession of firearms (just in this case). Civilians just don't get tried by Courts Martial, and instead go in front of Federal judges if prosecuted.
      Oh, and no, police don't get to enter a base without permission. It's hilarious that someone with 0 knowledge gets online to post this stuff as if you're informed. Go crawl back in your dark corner. Oh, and by the way, I have 15 years in military and civilian law and law enforcement, but hey, you were alive in 1776 and know all the new and old laws, so...

Cops certainly have killed people who did not pose any threat and we should be able to see all these interactions. Body cams help protect everyone. @@biz0r07 Sorry bud, last I checked I still have the freedom to make my own choices. So I'll do as I please. We all don't have the same values and understandings, so we all appreciate different things differently. I personally appreciate being able to see, for myself, what is happening. Rather than having to believe someone else's retelling of events. Especially when it comes to police interactions. Law enforcement has been heavily demonized lately.
      And of course there's monetary incentive. If you put time into making a channel and finding and assembling footage, and gained enough traffic to monitize. Would you just decline the income? If so, for what reason?
