After removing the battery press down the power button for 5 to 15 seconds so that the electricity discharges completely off the board, without doing it, even a single screw drop on the mainboard can very much damage the laptop and could even brick the laptop.
just wanted to change the SSD, and the laptop doesn't power on again, even though I put back the old SSD
@@bjarkareem9963 check if you plugged in the cables correct, check whether the ram is seated correctly or the battery cable is plugged in correctly. hope this helps !!
@@rameshravikumar9515 a simple ssd upgrade shouldnt have any cables unplugged or messing with ram (edit: as shown in the video the ram is soldered directly to the pcb), other then disconnecting the battery to be safe which isnt necessary and is up to the individual to reconnect everything correctly. on mine i simply used the 2nd unused m.2 slot cleaned the fans and put back plastic back on, no issue.
@@bjarkareem9963 Hey sorry to bother, but did you find a way to fix the issue? I've got the same problem my laptop won't boot after the upgrade. I followed the video, unplugged the power and pushed the power button to discharge and then I've only added an NVMe in the second slot but after reassembling there's no sign of life in my pc.
how do you reset bios? where is cmos battery? does removing battery and pressing power button for 15 mins also reseting the bios? because of electricity discharge?
2:10 - and that, my friend, is why you need to read the service manual before you stick your electric screwdriver into the laptop. The bottom right screw is not supposed to come out, it lifts the corner of the back cover so that you can insert your prying tool and easily remove the cover.
You sure ?
@@UbergeeksBiz Absolutely. This is pretty much standard nowadays for high-end Asus laptops. See ua-cam.com/video/YRBDmhIOMPs/v-deo.html for reference.
Yes, he is completely right.@@UbergeeksBiz
true - the screw raises the edge of the of back panel so prying it open is much easier
@@UbergeeksBizHe is right. It's - unofficially at least - called a popping screw. It is supposed to prop up the panel, so you can insert a tool and pry it up easily. The part comes off when you lift the other clips.
Thanks a lot. This was very comprehensive and to the point.
My unit started vibrating violently, after 1 year. Turned out it had gotten very dirty and the paste had spread.
But then why was it vibrating?
Thank you so much for this video, with this I could dismantle and assemble my laptop so I could do a very good cleaning and now I learned so much about my own laptop. God bless you
thanks for the video, thermals are rising again and based on the last time i cleaned it i wanted to remove the fans and/or heatsink to be able to clean dust better, now ik what to expect
Great Video.. Helped locate where the too silver screws go I had left over 😅
The fans... I'll take off the back and put them in their place..
I repasted mine with old school artic silver and upsiren U6 paste on the VRMs and other chips..
Tempreeatures are actually very decent now.. On idle 35C and under gaming.. CPU average 80 and GPU 75ish..much better than the CPU being 95C most of the time.
Other things I found was basically the CPU speed step turbo is too much for this unit. I've limited it to 42Ghtz..since in gaming with both the CPU and GPU temperatures getting hot.. It's just not worth it.
Most games I play are not heavy CPU so I'm not taking any FPS hits.. And leaving more thermal headroom for the GPU to do its thing.
The Tuf is still great for me.. Picked it up for about $900USD in Australia 3 years ago and it's still banging 1440p games with decent results.. Thanks again for this video it really helped me solve my two extra screw mystery 😊😊
Thank you so much, I had to clean the fan on my laptop because it got so dusty and this really helped me navigate!! The most complex thing I ever took apart and cleaned before this was a ps2 lol
the screw is a pop off screw and its purpose is to pop up the plastic cover to help you prying it open
So it's not necessary to take out the whole motherboard to remove the heatsink? I only want to repast the thermal paste.
Wonderfully Explained. Just finish Servicing. Be Blessed Brother.
Definitely Sub.
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
You never showed or mentioned the different length bolts when removing the undercover.
Good point.. The short screws go in each corner and at the middle sections at the edges.. Long screws in the middle.. I found out by trial and error.. The screws should take many many turns to bed
I guess the bottom right screw shouldn't come off... because mine also didn't and it didn't feel stuck either
do i have to disconnect battery, ssd and ram if i want to change thermal paste? or i just have to unscrew the heatsink ?
No.. Just remove the heat sink.. Disconnecting the battery is a good idea..
The bottom right screw on ASUS laptops are captive so it is easier to lift the back plate off the laptop.
Ottima descrizione, mi aiuterebbero dei testi in evidenza che indicano le caratteristiche di ciò che stai montando/ estraendo
can I put a 16gb ddr4, in addition to the 8gb? won't it cause any problem? or do you recommend a 8gb only?
good video very informative💯🙏
yes you can upgrade ur ram...max to 32 g ram
Yes you can upgrade your RAM
My Brother have the same laptop and he recently upgraded the RAM to 40 GB.
8GB soldered and put a 32GB ADATA module and its working fine
If I'm not mistaken bottom right screw does not come off as it lifts up that part of the bottom lid so that you dont have to use a tool to pry the bottom lid open
It should come off, sometimes it may get stuck. As long as you can pry open the bottom lid, you are fine
@@UbergeeksBiz No, it does not come off. Like the person above said, it is designed to push up the case so you can easily open the laptop. You have some things to learn about computers and it shows by what you did with the thermal paste
That was super helpful! Thanks man
Help! The heatsink screws are super hard to come off, what should I do ? I don't have electric screwdriver
Hello, when you dismounted the refrigeration and changed the thermal paste i noticed that other components have some kind of "white thermal paste" that you didn't replace (17:30), do you know what is that?
How do you swap out the fan itself?
W T actual F. You must remove all the old thermal paste after separating the heatsink, always. DO NOT leave the old stuff on, and always re apply new paste
Thank you for this video , it was very helpful. If you could assemble them again and film it , it would be great
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
Hi! Could you assemble it again and show us in a new video ! Thanks beforehand!
@@juanfigueroa4717 Maybe click here: 0:01 to replay ?
@@UbergeeksBiz thank you, anyway...
Where is cmos button to clear bios in this model?
Very helpful, indeed ! Thank you !
Never leave old thermalpaste, clean all and put a new one, That white semi-liquid are thermalpads but very thin like 0.5 or 1.0mm max.
Hi, I don't know if you'll see this comment or not, but I hope you do.
I disassembled my laptop just to do some cleaning and I unplugged the battery but didn't press power button for 15sec. When I reassembled the laptop it wouldn't turn on. I disassembled it again to check if the battery was unplugged but it's not the case. The laptop still turns on when plugged but not on battery. Do you have any potential solutions please?
Did this now my laptop won't even turn on , thanks bro
I have disassembled mine helped me learn about the laptop. What are the black tapes on the fans? mine became less sticky and is not sticking to the plastic fully on the edges where hot air is supposed to come out. is it just tape or does it have a function?
Not that important function. Tape is to hold them together tightly.
I am not discouraging the creator in any way but my advice would be to get this done by an professional because if you failed to apply the paste correctly and get the thermal paste onto the motherboard it might short circuit and cause serious damage which happened in my case I tried to do it on my own and shorted my gpu. Now I am in a condition where my system can’t be recovered.
this is non conductive thermal paste, it won't short circuit any components.
You likely just messed up with static discharge like a novice :P
I just scraped off the insulation tape on my laptop. is that a no problem for the laptop??
Very good video, very informative By chance you don't know what type or model of screws the Asus Tuf Dash F15 case has, I accidentally lost one and well I don't know what type or model of screw it uses...
Unfortunately I do not remember the size. If missing one screw for back cover, you will be fine. :)
Thanks so much for the video, helped me a lot
I have a bit of trouble closing the battery safety metal, any tips ?
if touching laptop body near the touchpad my backspace key automatically working, any solution, my laptop is asus tuf dash f15 fx516pc,,help me.
This lap max ram we can upgrade??❤❤
do you know what termal pad i need to use .5 mm , 1 mm ?
Are the fans not replaceable?
just wanted to change the SSD, but the laptop doesn't power on again, not even I pit the old SSD,
what can I do?
Thanks ! most comprehensive video on how to disassemble this video. Would it be possible to upgrade the CPU from an i5 to an i7 118X0H ?
My TUF Dash 15 is still under warranty and I wanted to wait before I try to upgrade.
no it's soldered to the motherboard
Hi there! With the GPU, do you put thermal paste on both the dies, or just the bigger one (as you didn't put any fresh paste on the smaller one)? Cheers!
the bigger one is the gpu
so for the gpu only put on the bigger one
he said he didnt remove it because its fresh paste, since its a new unused laptop. ideally youd want to remove it all with a solvent like rubbing alcohol and reapply thermal paste on both dies and each vram chip, basically everywhere there was thermal compound. dont need much of it, enough that it covers it all once heatsink is reinstalled and screwed down, but its better to have too much then too little
can you put a 32 gb ram on the single ram stick? thank in advance and AWESOME VIDEO !
My Brother have the same laptop and he recently upgraded the RAM to 40 GB.
8GB soldered and put a 32GB ADATA module and its working fine
Did you do it ? Everything is working properly?
yup, everything smooth as expected

hello, I have a problem with this model, black screen. How can you reset the BIOS in a physical way? Does it have a battery or a reset button?
@ubergeeks dude can you point cmos battery?
Where is the cmos battery or pins to reset cmos? I am uable to see bios screen. I have a corrupt gpu driver that make only 5% of the screen visible , the rest is black.
did you find where it was?
Would you happen to have a site or place i could check up for a fan replacement, to mexico?
Gracias !

Hello I changed thermal paste but now computer wont turn on or show any lights like charging
I have same problem now 😔
Have you solve it ?
hello, i have a question, currently im using only 1 slot for the ssd which is nvme m.2, if i want to buy a second ssd do i need to put thermal pad on it?
Hi, I just bought and installed a second SSD on my laptop yesterday. Same model of laptop, FX516PE. I had bought a Crucial P3 1TB, and it has what looked like a stock thermal pad on it. Not ideal for temps, but hey, I don't have to bother with it.
removing the heatsink will make the warranty void?
Yes
