I just bought an FX506HC and have both an NVMe SSD and 16GB RAM on order. Bookmarked your vids, thanks!
Thanks for the info. I have the same like yours. And doubtly have second port for Ssd..
Very helpful, thank you!! And thank you for mentioning the usb key!! I was dreading having to transfer files thru mega or google drive.
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
Great video! Very easy to follow along, my upgrade went very smoothly thanks to your video.
thank you very much!!
just installed a new SSD and RAM on my laptop :)
did you have to apply thermal tape to the second ssd?
@@furypestono SSDs don't really heat up, plus thermal paste/tape is for moving heat from the component to a heat sink (like the copper pipes you can see in the video that go towards the fans), and the SSDs are just on top of the motherboard, also the original SSD didn't came with any paste either
Asus Tuf F15 (FX506HF-ES51) has Gen 3 slots (confirmed that with Asus tech on phone) so only get Gen 3 SSD for second port as saves money and if you get 4th gen it’s still only gonna give you what the Gen 3port can do. I use Crucial for my Ram and SSD. Have Crucial 32Gigs of Ram in one with extra Crucial 1TB SSD and in my second Asus laptop I have 64 gigs of ram and extra 1TB SSD. Crucial is reasonably priced, great specs, reliable
Nice 💖
slot 1 support gen4 , slot 2 support gen 3
@@mostafab13 Negative ghost rider. I wanted to 100% make sure after checking the specs, so I called Asus and we went over model and specs and and verified both are 3rd gen slots.
@@Itsmy2cent 3 and 4 are not so diffrent
@@mostafab13 SMH buddy, I never said there was. The point is if you have a 3rd gen slot, if you buy a 4th gen SSD you’ve literally wasted the extra money. Will a 4th gen SSD work in 3rd gen slot, yes, but your NOT going to get the speed the 4th gen SSD touts, as the 3rd gen port will only go a certain speed. Silly Simple Example, 3rd gen slot has speed of 5, your 4th gen SSD has a speed of 10…..Your only gonna get speed 5 max. As opposed to a 3rd Gen SSD that has speed of 5. So you spent $50 on a 4th gen SSD, when you could have got the 3rd gen for $30 and compromised nothing. Don’t be daft
I added a second ssd and will clone the original OS drive into the new one and make that one the OS drive, does it matter which physical slot its in?
If I watch correctly, when you place secondary ssd nvme and place the screw, there's connector cable stuck beneath the ssd. Is that okay? Will the cable burn because of the heat?
very clear and helpful, thank you very much kind sir !
You are welcome. Glad the video helped.
if my new ssd is faster read write should i use that as main ssd or just put it in second slot?
I'm very new to laptops that are specifically for gaming and have never upgraded anything in a laptop before, period. This video is super clear, concise and easy to follow, even for someone like me who's very much inexperienced with hardware!
My one critique is maybe mix the audio a bit to lessen that drill sound. Or cut it out/speed it up
Hello! Do you any idea if how much storage can it carry? For example if I only have 500gb of ssd, can i add it with 1tb instead of another 500gb?
I tried to slot in an m.2 ssd but it won’t fit the slot , do you know why ?
will heatsink ssd nvme fit? 3mm heatsink+1mm paste+ 2mm ribbon tape ?
What if that black paper fell of from laptop after we close the laptop back cover?is there any issue?
do you void your waranty if you open the back lid while the laptop is still under waranty?
Hi, i have a question, can you add an ssd 1 or 2tb and 90wh battery?
Hey man!
Thanks for your information/demonstration very concise!

Do all tuf F15 models have the same capacity for upgrading 2 X NVMe M.2?

What I'm wondering is it the same hardware upgrade procedure when it comes to another model ie like mine?
Thank you and best regards.

@UberGeeks how much expansion does the extra slot support ? can I add 2TB or 4TB?
Do you need to disconect the battery before addin the sexondary ssd?
Thank you appreciate the tutorial🎉
Helpful, cheers 👍
Thank you so much this is a fantastic, highly informative video :) ... I'm wondering if anyone who added a 2nd m2 drive can answer this.. how are the temps for that 2nd m2 drive? Anything to wrry about? Is a heatsink necessary? (not sure if I could fine one flat/thin enough to fit into the laptop though)
why is the disk not appearing on disk manager?
One question, why? I added a HDD next to the ssd , but why add a second ssd?
Very Useful,Thanks
and how much max capacity can that second ssd have? please answer
Hey is it fine if that wire stays under the second ssd u just installed?
I have this same model. Can we add HDD too? It has a space and pin for it. 😅
thankyou perfect video . i have a Crucial by micron P1 M,2 22280 500 MB nvm express
can i use this ssd ? in my tuf F15 asus 144hz

FX506LH-AS51 (2022) what Gen M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD ? Tia! 😊
I have a asus tuf laptop fx507zc4 do i have 2 memory slots?
Someone knows if have terabyte limit on Tuf f15? Or i can put 1 tera slot 1 more 1 tera in slot 2?
Great vid thank you. :)
Bro instead of this can we put Crucial BX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 8.89 cm (2.5-Inch) Internal SSD - CT2000BX500SSD1 to this laptop?
do we have a hard disk slot in this laptop?
Can we upgrade asus tuf f15 camera with IR camera so that windows hello face can work ??
so no thermal tape over second ssd?
For some reason the screw in for my ssd slot won’t come out
So you dont unplug the battery first?
I have the ASUS TUF F15 2023 i7 12700H AND RTX 4070, I am thinking of buying 2 WD SN850X 4TB SSDs since I work with heavy files in 6k and 8k video editing. Do you think that those 2 SSDs that I mentioned are compatible and that you can place them without problems?
good video brother;)
do we need to take ssd with heat sink
can we add 2TB of ssd in 2 slot of asus tuf f15 model:FX506HC ?
very helpful
Does it need a heatsink???
Thanks, I did it.
Which side is the cpu on?
Wow thats very few heat pipes there, doesn't it overheat?
On which side gpu is located?
Most important dialogue is between 4:30 and 4:34 ... Slide the ssd at 45 degree and while pushing it towards from left side.. thank you..
Confising why you took the fist one out. But good video
I did it and it worked but my sound disappeared
thank u brother
support for raid?
did anyone notice the spark when installing the 2nd nvme
It seems that the notebook PC has two M.2 slots, but it is not possible to extract the original image from slot 1 and write the cloned OS image to slot 2 in the internal slot of the notebook PC?
Is there a special reason why you can only purchase a USB M.2 NVMe SSD external case and use it to replace it?
Hey. Did you found the answer?
Hi...this is helpful...is it not necessary to disconnect the battery before upgrading the SSD or RAM ? ... i wanted to see how that's done.
generally, its ok to unplug the battery while doing anything.
is that hdd slot the small rectangle in the right side can i still add hdd ..sorry for noob question
i havent used this one yet, but thats 99.99% a HDD slot. i can see the word printed HDD cable in the middle of the battery and M2 SSD. Also the ''metal-holder-whatever-it's-name-is'' is definetly for HDD
If i use new ssd for both slots do i need to reinstall windows? Or do i need to go into the bios so the storage can show up?
No the system should recognise both drives and boot of the original drive that is already there.
The screw for the second SSD slot was so tight from factory that I had to use pliers to turn it because the screw stripped my cheap screwdrivers, then my nice screw drivers started to strip the screw!
Hello, what screwdriver head should I exactly use in order to be able to install a new ssd in a similar Asus laptop?
Philip 1
Will this work on the ASUS TUF15 FX506HC? I can't find the difference between the two model numbers.
I have the same question. The website I bought it on, says it only has 1 SSD connector.
Can someone please tell me if I need to add a thermal pad to the 2nd SSD? I plan to use that disk for storing games. Thanks
no you don't
por que tienen tan mala disipación en las tuf dash mejoraron muchisimo y estas computadoras grandes las siguen vendiendo con esos disipadores no tan eficientes.
do you need to format the ssd before you add it and how do you partitioin it?
It’s in the video. Disk management
does the FX506LH model have 2 slots like the FX506L model?
Yes it does
Does the Samsung 980 Pro SSD with Heatsink fit on the Asus Tuf Laptop?
anything will do, but samsung and sabrent are like best you can buy
My new A17 FA706IH doesn't have the second NVMe slot.😢
Must be a old version feels bad man
WHAT ABOUT : holding the power button to discharge the circuits before opening the back cover ???
And what about removing the battery terminal first ?????
For SSD UPGRADE. Battery disconnect doesn't required.
Any downside on using both m.2 slot or should I replace the main?
Don’t replace the main. It’s got enough storage and you will have to reinstall windows if you change it so it’s not really worth the hassle
What screwdriver do you use?
I tried removing the screw using a regular small size philips screwdriver but it wouldn't budge at all, and it is now completely threaded/stripped.
One of the screws are place holders it will not completely come out
i used something else
Having the same problem...
Same thing happening to me
will you void the warranty? You didn't change the normal sdd, do you need an adapter for it?
Asus allows users to make upgrades of their laptops without voiding the warranty
the included SSD has a heatsink on it. Doesn't the second SSD need a heatsink as well?
Up
is it possible to put 16gb ram additional where there is already 8gb ram........8+16?
Yes its possible. I HAVE FX506H model and 8+16GB ddr4 3200mhz. Aida and cpuz detects dual channel 1600mhz so looks like full speed.
Do i need to use the same ssd that you put i have the same laptop or i can use other ssd?
you can use other ssds just make sure they are NVMe M2 :)
i really can't find anywhere how to enable the pcie 4 "speed"
i installed in the second slot an kingston fury renegade and solidigm p44 pro , both are initially detected at pcie 3.0
Anyone here figured out how to unlock their pcie 4.0 capabilities ? The bios is seems limited
It's a 3.0 slot.
@@Eyeyamgod i found out later too, so the pcie 4.0 slot on Fx505hc is the one near the side(originally equipped with a gen3 ssd) not the "free" unoccupied one
Hi Simon, I have ROG Zephyrus Pro Duo GX551QS where it come with 2 isntalled SSD from ASUS and each of them is 1 TB, totally 2 TB. They indicated in one drive C OS is 2 TB. No other partition. So now I also have ROG Zephyrus Pro Duo GX650RX where it comes with onde drive 2TB. The another slot is still blank. Now I have upgade and istalled an additinal NVMe with 2 TB. So No How to amke the same thing with my GX550QS where the total of them shall be ine drive C OS with total 4TB indicated on C OS drive. Do you have any video ?
I don't have the video of what you are asking. I think you want to RAID your two 2tb ssd and turn it into 4tb. You need to setup in BIOS. Instead of using AHCI, setup as RAID. and go from there.
@@UbergeeksBiz Thnak you for the advise. Anyway, if we do lie your advise, how is the existing installed window and data? Are they lost?
I tried to remove the SSD screw for 15 min...so damn tight 😂
does that void the warranty by opening the backcover and peeling off those covers that stick to the RAM and SSD?
Ask your customer service. Usually they encourage to upgrade but when I asked my customer service about my second ssd slot they'll respond very vaguely. In my case, all they did was sent me back a tech sheet saying my upgradeable slot is pci4.
It doesn't void warranty but any damages done to yourself or to the laptop don't fall into warranty so best to unplug your battery before doing any upgrades. For example, Any screws falling on the circuitry of the motherboard can short circuit and possibly damage it. That is irreversible damage
@@TheUltimateHacker007 thanks for your detail inputs!
Right under the new NVMe is an empty space ... Is that for another SSD slot ?
+1
it's for 2.5inch sata slot you can put ssd or hdd any your choice.
Mine didnt have spare screw... They usually do 😢
yea, some never come with spare screw.
Does warranty void if i install ssd by my self?
It does not affect the warranty as long as you do not cause any physical damage to the computer.
is it compatible with model "FX506LH"
Hey. Did you found the answer?

@@TEJASPLAYZ how is the laptop working now bro? Is it heating up a lot? Did you use a laptop cooling station for it? If so then which one?

This is a great step that was missed in the video. Will it be fine if you dont? Maybe. But it is a good precaution to take.
I have Asus Tuf f17 will i need 3.0 or 4.0
3.0 or 4.0 is fine

is it possible or its require add them as an equal pairs ?
Possible, 24gb

I recently buy a gaming tuf f15 but is a more recent model. is the FX506HCB.311 and I don't know if I have the extra SDD slot. I don't want to open a laptop because last time I open it I screw it

It's got extra space so you can your original and had a bigger ssd in
What's the max storage limit that I can upgrade to? Can I use a second 512 gb SSD in addition to the original one?
You can add another 512gb ssd so its 512x512 but make sure its the same ssd as the other one. And if your gonna replace the ssd where all your data is stored, make sure to make a backup of all your important files if you dont wanna lose the files and transfer all your data to the new ssd.
