Power amp voltage attenuators are awesome. It's great to see practically every builder installing power soaks on all their new amp lines. All that sustain and even-order harmonics just pouring out at any volume you choose. Thank God! Finally! Soon, everybody will be enjoying cranked preamp and maxed power tube grit and sustain at whisper volumes! The dream tone is easily attainable in your bedroom at 2 a.m. and I love it. Sing for me my little Tubies! Sing!

I like that poppy compressed clean sound. Fits my needs.

One VERY IMPORTANT piece of information is missing here...was this video using the attenuators??? If so, what modes, what settings?!

play one in person. This amp is quite good.
I would recommend a used Mark IV over it, which is the best amp Mesa ever made.

@highrollerzzz i agree, i think it's cool. but most of it's coming from the strat he's using. i've played with a Mesa or two before and i liked that the clean tones just seemed to have more depth to them than the Marshalls i'm used to.

@StratsRgreat Hi, only one that i can think of and its the Express series, had one for around 4 years and begged for someone to steel it and they didn't even want it, But most the other Boogies you are correct. Really like this amp.

I agree, the distortion sounds great on singles, and humbuckers, but I'm not attracted to that clean strat tone, it's so odd sounding.

ok i don't understand what is wrong with the clean channel... i like it a lot. most of the character you hear out of it is that from the bridge pickup of the strat he's using. you're going to get twang out of that bridge pickup. if he was using the neck pickup of the Les Paul it would sound different.
the one thing that does stay the same is that the clean channel won't distort... i've run nuclear-hot DiMarzio's through a Mark Five (similar channel) and it just won't. so don't count on that.

Just because it uses EL34 tubes doesn't immediately mean it has 'great British crunch'.

shit... this demo doesn't do the cleans justice.
I've played this amp and it has awesome cleans. Use humbuckers with it.
Best EL34 clean amp I've ever heard.

Doubt this was its purpose, but the video just demonstrated to me - again, for the 1000th time - that Boogies can't do clean tones. And they are still only for chugga chugga chugga types.

you need a line 6 to practice on before you get to the mesa.....so go back to your bedroom for a few more years.....

IMHO Don can't bring the best tone out of the amps he tries. I own this amp and it sounds way better than the tone he achieved, Anderton's, Wolfluke and Mesa/Boogie demos sound way better.
