- In this episode I show you another amp in my collection. This is a beast of an amp!!! 100 Watts with EL34 Power Section, and can go from Fender Cleans, to Marshall Drive, to amazing HI Gain.
3 Channels and a super amazing Tube Spring Reverb makes it an incredible amp.
USED GEAR FOR THIS EPSIODE:
Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 with Burstbuckers
Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic 100 head
Mesa Boogie Rectifier 4x12" with WGS ET65
Lava Retrocoil Cable
SIGNAL CHAIN:
Sennheiser MD 421 - AMEK 9098 Mic Pre - Distressor - Universal Audio Apollo 16 - Protools 11
Shure SM 57 - AMEK 9098 Mic Pre - Distressor - Universal Audio Apollo 16 - Protools 11
Pearlman TM2 - Helios Type 69 Mic Pre - Apollo 16 - Protools 11
The way you play that song at 13:32 is priceless.
Hahaha love the Fender strap on the Gibson Les Paul
you have an excellent rage of gear. got mostly everything covered. this Mesa sounds fantastic! nice job with your vids! peace Budda!!!!
Cant believe you needed any new amp after this GREAT one! But I hope so, because I love your reviews, lol.
henriquelhrf ah ah ah . I totally get you. But I have a lot more!! I'm that crazy!
I've had my RA for almost three years now. This video was one of many influencers that helped me make up my mind. I love it! I just replaced the el34's that it came with, with SED 'winged C' el34's and now it sounds even better! Keep up the good work my man.
What has changed with the tube swap?
@@BuddaGuedes So there's a gentleman on the mesa boogie lover's facebook page who is a big fan of the RA. I believe he's an electrical engineer or something. He was saying that the voltage ratings of the str447 el34's that come stock in the RA are a bad match for the amp and that the out of production SED (svetlana electron devices) winged C (=C=) tubes are a great match (Not to be confused with the svetlana tubes currently being produced). I found other posts on the grail tone forum that shared that opinion. I bought a set and they do indeed sound quite a bit better to my ear. They're kind of expensive but I think they were worth it. Thanks again for the great video. Very informative, entertaining and very nice playing as well.
Thanks a lot for sharing. What difference did you notice?
@@BuddaGuedes Better saturation, earlier breakup, sweeter more shimmering highs. You mentioned that you don't use the multi soak but these tubes also allow the multi soak to retain more of the characteristics of the full watt tone.
Ok thanks
Great amp!
Hey @Budda Guedes! I bought this amp and looooove it. I can even play my favorite TOOL songs when I overdrive the pre amp with a tube pedal. Your right tho the clean channel has an immaculate sound.
Ray Bees it's a great amp indeed. You can cover a lot of different territories with it. And it records beautifully!
Man you got great style bro....
Thanks for your support
WOW I always thought of a mesa as being a high gain amp, but that thing is awesome in so many ways. Of course your playing is awesome too !
Robert Button thanks. That's a usual misconception about Mesa Boogie because they have a lot of available gain indeed. But the amps are super well built and great sounding.
You never heard of the Mesa Lone Star or the Stiletto? Wake up bro
i really like the combination of that amp and the les paul. so good tone. i love it. this would be my last step in buying gear. you don't need anything else, do you?
The RA -100 is such a great amp. My friend has one and it really is awesome. The only problem is that it is so heavy. I think his 2x12 combo is something crazy like 104 pounds.
Hollis Prince its heavy like hell!!!
4:12 I need that sound, that headroom that fatness. But in a smaller amp like a 20 watt or less ...typicallly 10inch or so speaker... marshall origin 20 dsl? fender with wich pedal? what would you recommend? Mesa Boogie Subway Rocket maybe? Mark III 20w? thank you:)
This sound and specially the headroom you can only get from a 4x12 and a 100 Watts amp. But you can get close with a Supro or even the Fender Pro Junior or the Marshall clsss 5 or Studio Vintage
@@BuddaGuedes Thank you for your time Budda, bless.
Hi Budda! Did you try Mesa Electra Dyne amp? Im looking 4 new amp, and electradyne is in my price range. Honest opinion of professional will be nice :)
Adam Po I haven’t tried it but I’m sure it’s a great amp. All Mesa boogies are incredible, if you’re looking for punch and more modern tone.
@@BuddaGuedes I'm happy over of mesa express 5:25+. Man, its first amp I have no regrets about buying. Ty Budda, you convinced me to mesa amps!
