These amps sounds freaking great on all three channels. This demo might sound a bit brittle but trust me this amp sounds so creamy with chime.... it is very inspiring to play....
Love this amp. Used to want a Mark V and when I finally went to buy it, I fell in love with the RA. Always wanted a straight up plexi-like tone with an amazing clean channel.
@ferlottes well, I think the fundamental error there is that no, the purpose of a tube amp is not to overdrive it. 100W means you can be super loud while still having really clean tones. If it was 25w, it'd be tricky to get a clean tone in a large venue. And using that power soak thing, they get some clip even at low volumes at around the 3 minute mark.
Ok ... why 100watts ??? the purpose of a tube amp is to drive the amp 'till it crunch. so 50watts is way more for that. Why not producing a 50 watts with 25 watts options ? I wish they'll do it !
Hi, I have all wattage : 5, 15, 25, 50 and 100. One thing in common : all these amps sound best when power section is cranked up, around noon. All harmonics produced by tube power section will rise. Otherwise, you better play a transitor amp, 'cause if you don't cranked the Power tube, there's no point to to get a fizzy brittle preamp section distorted tone. That's my opinion, working and testing all my tube amp in the studio at very heavy volume (with ear plugs !!!) for years. Merci
@dbenc Even if the amp doesn't have what's needed to play full bore metal, don't you think Mark can stick a pedal in front of it to get what he needs? I always have said that the best amp for metal is the one that has the volume needed. After that, choose from hundreds of pedals to get the tone your after. How many plug their guitar straight into the amp? Maybe Angus, Chuck berry and a few others.
i would say this isnt really a "metal amp" even though mark morton from lamb of god uses it. In my opinion, its more of a good old rock amp. There is never an unusable amount of gain (nothing too extreme which i like). really versatile amp and sounds amazing. but yeah, you could always stick a pedal in front of it.
@ferlottes Well, of course 100 watts cranked up is ridiculously, unuseably loud. People still use 100 watt amps because of the huge clean headroom, punch, clarity, and high gain that holds tight at high volumes without flubbing. The RA-100 has a built in attenuator so there is no need for 50/25 watt options. Really it's all more of a "feel" issue, rather than a volume issue. Ever played a 100 watt all-tube amp? Play one and you'll see what I mean. :)
i don't see what the point of a power soak on a mesa is. mesa traditionally has very clean power amp sections, letting the preamps do all the work. i don't get it.
fail EQ, mids are below 12 o' clock..the amp really shines when you crank the mids more..these guys don't really know what they are doing, should of just stuck with the clean channel..

very nice amp... versatile to the bone.
the recording sounds great! way to go PG!
That's the cleanest amp I've ever heard!

MESA, Anderson Guitar & Rebecca - Good morning world, all is well.
That guy is an awesome guitarist!
THIS SOUNDS EPIC! I think it has the best high gain tone after the Blackstar Series 1, but the Blackstar can't get that awesome funky clean

Any word on pricing yet. Everyone should know its way expensive and if you have to ask, well, enjoy your Line 6, cause you can't afford it!

Yeah, I agree

When is this amp coming out?
@trniquet look at what the mids are set at dude
not bad, but of the 'NAMM 11 amps i would say the albion tct100h is better in my opinion
This thing sings... maaan
Is there any mesa model that isnt impressive?
sounded brittle
so do most brit amps....
@metalcore929 That comment sounds just like every other user error to me...
I guess Doug West does't know anything about Mesa amps...lol
Another misguided ploy to capture the marshall tone. Sounds just like channel 2 crunch mode of the Mark V....too compressed.
