Just call it 'Microsoft Earth Simulator' at this point. It simulates the entire planet
Or earth 2...
I just left another commend basically asking if I can have this product :) I just want WASD + mouselook to zoom around the planet in "spectator mode".
No mate. This is just practice for Microsoft. I believe this is a huge plan to anticipate some future (VR/AR) advancement. That they are just checking what is already possible. But the next GTA 7 is gonna be lit.
They literally said they were not doing this... They are focusing on select areas like national parks...
I was just going to say the same thing. Wait till they integrate trains, ships and vehicles.
I'm not going to lie, just seeing that opening shot of the farmland...all I want to do is putter around in the ultralight slow over the scenery on a sunny afternoon and get lost. That is magical.
Were you originally going to lie?
As a Paramotor pilot, trust me. That's what it's ALL about. Fluttering slow.
@@pablobrad100 Absolutely. Like a rug. I was going to say all I cared about was being able to walk around the planes until I saw that. MS Walking Sim for me! 😜
My thoughts entirely. The procedural AI tech takes this sim to another level!
Exactly!😅
I'm glad to know the pushback cart guy will be wearing regionally-appropriate clothing as he walks into the propeller while trying to connect to the center of my plane.
Arcade Game clown..
"As well as....."
He left us on a cliffhanger!!! 😁
No idea how I managed to do that.
@@ObsidianAnt No worries, it happens. 🙂
NDA cut him off. Let the speculation begin!!
As well as visiting other planets 😂
That's Hilarious 😂 @@Channel99-1
May just stay in VR forever at this rate.
I'll join you on that 😂
No need to come out of it these days really. To eat and use the toilet, that's about it.
@@AndrewGrey22 If it weren't for work and all, but yeah lol
What GPU do you plan on running?
@@AndrewGrey22Do you not need sleep then? 😂
As someone who plays flight simulators to see nature just as much as flying a plane, this looks incredible.
I really wish I could skip the plane part and just get a free move camera that can zip around with
@@davescott7680i got good news, ms2020 has that. So i’m sure it’ll be here too
@@davescott7680 I'm pretty sure I've seen a youtube video of somebody doing that exact thing
We live on such a beautiful planet and I've always wanted to travel the world to see it's beauty. This simulator will bring me that much closer to my dream...
They’re simulating a lot of maritime stuff, which definitely sounds very interesting and promising. It would be incredible if Microsoft decided to delve into some sort of boat/ship/maritime simulator at some point. That’s a genre of sim that is in dire need of new competition, as the last truly great boat simulator is well over 15 years old at this point. Finger’s crossed! Either way, MSFS2024 looks and sounds incredible!
I combined simulator would be great. Add the maritime simulator in to the flight simulator. Then drop on a train simulator and you've got a full world transport simulator.
@@GregAbott-sl2bo All great ideas, plus the ability to just drive around in different types of vehicles (semi trucks, normal cars, race cars, etc).
And allow anyone in multiplayer to use other things like boats, cars or trains. I can see some "virtual plane spotting" on a sail boat near a final approach for example... Things like that... But it is great they are trying to make the best out of the box sim for every type of players.
I think these are the key points here, lots of things can be simulated in the MSFS world. Technically, the significant constraint is going to be the lack of a viable *multiplayer* system, just a few hacks left over from FSX which wasn't even considered a multiplayer game. So missions with scripted NPC's will look great, and you can expect to be able to walk around and see them, and the graphics you see will be great (note almost everything in the trailers is hand-crafted) but that's all classic single-player gameplay. I think 'co-op' will appear in MSFS at some point, not least because that's a very standard game mode and Asobo should be comfortable with it, but I'd be very surprised if Asobo magic that up out of nowhere in time for the November launch. The simple technical detail that will tell you if these careers have any future is whether Asobo have simply used the decades-old FSX missions system to craft them (with modern tweaks, of course). If the old system has been used, these missions are a total dead end.
Isn’t it already possible in MS2020 to drive a boat (via mod or something)?
I look much forward to have a actual purpose in Flight sim. It's boring to just fly from A to B, but to have actual goal makes that A to B stuff way more fun. I had to buy a third party program to have a company sim going on in Flight Sim, just to have me work to something, have the feel of actually doing something. It made the game so much more fun. To see they FINALLY add stuff to do, to give purpose to your time in the sim, is awesome!
You clearly do not understand what a simulator means, if flying simulation from A to B makes you boring then you are not a true simmer 😂
simming is fun sometimes, other times you just want to have fun other than realistic simming, hence why i have a study level a320 for when i want to do it the real way, and then a little f35b that can manoeuvre slowly and hover for sightseeing and then has a top speed of 7110 ground speed for just ''get me there'' mode XD
Spot on the OP mimics so many of the potato comments about SIms when what they really want is a simple application they can get their jollies from without effort IE: A GAME. They in fact call it a game themselves so therein lies the answer. He came entirely to the wrong place.
Maybe you are a gamer and not a simmer. I happily fly around looking at the virtual world with no actual goal or grind. On the other hand elite dangerous almost bored me to death with it's 'things to do'.
There’s a lot of different kinds of people who like MSFS. Some want to do missions like in a video game, only these are aviation-related. Others want to get as close as possible to flying a real plane. Others are virtual tourists who just want to sightsee without paying through the nose to travel to real places and take helicopter tours. Yet others like to set their own goals, like a flight across America in a Cessna 172 from small airport to small airport. So long as FS2024 is similarly broad in its playstyle support, I think it will be fine. If they try to push one of them as the one true playstyle, that’s where there will be trouble.
This is pretty insane. I haven't been this impressed with hype for something new in a long time. Sounds amazing and totally innovative.
My pc will burst into flames 😄
Maybe not since they seem to care a lot about Xbox users, might be well optimized
@@machnumber Also, streaming is possible, but I'm guessing you'll need a good connection.
Haha. That was my first thought. My machine handles MSFS2020 fairly well, but it's almost 4 years old and I'm not too confident that an RX6800XT will be able to handle this in VR.
@@jonahfalcon1970 You can be on 1TB/s connection, but it's all useless if Microsoft servers are shait, which we know and have been proven they are, i.e. almost every larger update to MSFS crashing their server or taking forever. I'm on 1Gbit connection and max I've seen MS to take is around 200 Mbit, usually about 100-150Mbit. Steam can go full 800MBit download steadily. Now is that enough to transmit "real time" CFD data across the globe without lagging? Not to mention all other data that may need to be transmitted.
My 4090 should be able to handle this I suppose
A clarification at 1:10 in the video. Ships will not be "fully simulated". The location, speed, and direction will be injected and matched to a representative model of the ship. Just as liveries differ among aircraft, ship's colors and features may not be exactly the same as the actual ship/boat class being shown in the simulator. It will be a good representation in the simulator, but people shouldn't expect to see every ship that exists in the simulator.
I did not get the impression he meant to imply that. Anybody interested enough in MSFS to be watching this channel should be at least vaguely familiar how AI traffic works, just like with planes, its obvious it's going to be generic boats and such. With nearly-real time positions. That's far far more detail I would be interested in personally, and likely to be a resource hog, but I'm sure they'll have the option to turn it off.
I was hoping I could land on random cargo ships, get out and walk around and check out the ship...maybe even start a fight with the crew 😂
I can imagine transporting some suit-men upside down through the grand canyon while they are reacting like nothing is out of the ordinary lol
Imagine if they added a Planet Coaster/Roller Coaster Tycoon style review system to each flight with passengers.
Sim copter also had a system where your passengers would get sick if you flew too rowdy.
Since they’ve gone to the trouble of adding every blade of grass and shoe lace let’s hope they don’t continue to leave out flyby and tower view !!
Loving the content, you are my "go to" for information on MSFS. Keep it up!
This sounds like an INCREDIBLE leap forwards as well as a leap BACK TO THE PAST to the good old days of MSFS 2004, with flight planning and all that sort of more technical stuff, which I LOVE!!! This made me think back to my amazing grandfather in Italy, who introduced me to MSFS 2004 when I was around 7 years old. He flew regularly in real life and he was also a farmer, taught me thousands of things...He was my hero. I miss him dearly, and the good times back then when the world was a lot simpler and happier. Thank you for bringing good memories back again to me.
When MSFS 20 came out, my PC wasn't ready. Now, my PC is more well capable of runnig it nice. Now, MSFS 24 is coming and i guess history will repeat itself :D
And when you get better pc the FS2028 will come out :3
@@rizzy_the_furry_fox_alt :'( But also: Yay, a new System in 28 :D
What do you currently have?
Given this new sim is made to run on the same Xbox as the 2020, you should be good. Overall much much better performance and usage of the PC hardware was one reason they even made a totally new base sim instead of clinging to the "MSFS 2020 will be updated for ten years" they said on launch.
We should be good.
@@Cloudybox12 At the Moment i run R7600 + RX6800 in UWQHD.
I feel like airplane physics being improved isnt being talked enough. Its one of the core aspects of the game. Also, if this is what we're getting with MSFS 2024, then MSFS 2028 is going to be insane.
Yes that's on purpose. They are struggling with the physics improvements and they don't generate media hype.
Things are in a cinematic promotional trailer always looking great ...
lol I hear you - AAA game trailers are always a bit sketch.
I mean this is all in-game footage. Call it what you want, but it's clearly not fake.
@@swipefn1931 I don't think anyone was implying it was fake, just that they can optimize the graphical performance based around what they show in the scenes. It is a massaged view of the product and so "actual results may vary."
@@swipefn1931 well... the amount of hand-crafted custom scenery objects compared to the whole planet is tiny, but the MSFS2024 promo trailer has those front-and center in most of the scenes (like El Capitan, or Monument Valley). It's reasonable to assume missions have been created with more custom scenery. So not fake, but not representative of what you'll be looking at most of the time when casually flying the sim. MSFS Scenery *is* an awesome technical achievement, I'm not complaining.
Yesss I've been waiting on this video for so long!!!
I have been a HUGE hater in these comments sections in particular about the need for 2024 (because of all the promises about 2020's longevity), and I have to say that *I was wrong.* They have truly justified the new sim, especially with being able to take our purchases over from MSFS2020 and making it into an aviation simulator instead of just a flight simulator.
Let's see if you still think this when it's released.
I don't buy any of this crap. It will still be limited by one CPU thread.
It's bullshit, we dont need all that stupid shit, just a well working FLIGHT SIMULATOR, this is not what we get, we get crap, and even bad functioning crap..
Great video Ant. It looks like 2024 is a lot more than just an upgrade to 2020 looking forward to November.
Wonderful update. Thanks for your great work. Cheers 👍
Looks awesome! Greetings from PIE IN THE SKY TOURS! ✈️
Here's hoping they'll eventually turn this sim into an "all vehicles simulator". I want planes, trains, ships, all in one world and simulation. Would be so cool driving a train and then have someone fly over you in a plane.
Microsoft vehicle simulator lmao
It does seem like they are almost heading in a Forza Horizon-ish direction with the sim.
@@USSAnimeNCC- unironically yes

@@Velarieth Yeah no. The highly detailed parts of the world will be few and far between.
ObsidianAnt, you and your channel, you are a worldwide treasure!
How will this run on current Xboxes? Glad I’m on PC with a 4070 Ti Super, but I still wonder how they will make it all work😮
It all looks seriously amazing.
Doubt this will be on Xbox. Or if it is, it will be seriously downgraded.
I can't wait to try my hand at dangerous cliffside rescues and stuff like that. Those guys are the real deal.
Thanks for the video. What is great here is that Asobo seems to really look at what their players want and add that as well as incorporate popular addons. They seem pretty connected to their playerbase which is very promissing.
I wasn't too interested but now you got me hyped!
All of this looks cool. The tall objects you mentioned are one of my main QOL complaints with the current version. I fly around farm country a lot and cell towers but especially grain elevators are important landmarks for navigation. MSFS has become mainly the sim I fly helicopters in, so all the ships and helicopter activity and the fluid dynamics looks very promising. Thanks for the update Ant.
There is a free addon for FS2020 called "We Love VFR". It adds tall objects into the current sim. The makers of that addon are the same people that Microsoft is working with to add tall objects into FS2024. Basically, they are integrating that addon into the base sim. So if you grab "We Love VFR" for FS2020 you don't need to wait until November to get at least some of the tall objects added.
@@SectionNyne sweet thanks for the tip
A lot of people have been talking about the aircraft liveries but there is something that a lot of people are missing during the VIP @ Aspen section, and that is one word: Atlantic. Atlantic Aviation is the largest FBO chain in the US and the second largest in the world, so for that Atlantic sign being over the door is actually a pretty big deal because it means that Asobo has been granted the rights to use their name and signage in MSFS24, and I have never seen that before. Sure there are 3rd party sceneries out there with Atlantic, Signature, and Landmark FBOs but they are usually just a single airport or the names are not stylized exactly as they are in real life so they can avoid a copyright issue. So that is a pretty big thing.
You can see a British Airways sign at JFK at the start as well. Though no sign of any BA liveries
Absolutely stunning. Can't wait! Especially for being able to actually walking around, I feel like this was missing from 2020 to begin with. 24 is going to feel so more alive now with all the additions which is exciting.
hope they will put some love to flight dynamics/physics especially for helicopters.
You can see they have at the start of the video.
So much better than i ever imagined it was going to be!
If Microsoft can uphold these promises as much as I don't want to pay for another simulator, I do think that it is warranted, they've made a lot of promises and I think they seem to be holding them. Also those mountains are soooo goood.
In my honest opinion and I'm not a fanboy, on the long run they delivered 90% of what they promised for fs'20. In some aspects they accomplished even more. Fs'20 is/was refreshing for the flight sim genre also an experiment for MS and Asobo, I bet they tried out many things in alpha and closed beta during version releases from which they learned how they can do things if not in this sim due to limitations then in the new iterations. I highly believe they are going to deliver.
Another thing points to this speculation is how they advertised both sims, fs'20 was showcased to appeal more to the casual, weekend flyers, but they realised the more invested avrage and hardcore simmers are the one keeping it alive and keeping afloat the whole industry.
Points to this are the new flight planning, walk around features, two suspected airlner A320 and A330, possibly close to study level, all of these at launch. Fingers crossed they don't mess it up. I just hope the helicopter simulation is going to be as good as in DCS. I like flying in DCS, but the limited maps are taking away my mood sometimes. They get boring after a while.
Now I am really interested in testing this out.
It is shaping up nicely. Let us continue...
Hopefully the people walking around have enough sense to stay clear of the airplanes.
Lmao yea
I am absolutley hyped. I just hope the Planes will feel better. :)
Impressive stuff. I've enjoyed MSFS2020 and considering how much technology has improved since then, I look forward to MSFS2024.
So excited to carry passengers and do some crop dusting.
I'm excited! 😁
One step closer to combining flying and shipping. Haulage next hopefully :)
Wow! I'm sold and I can't wait.
I just flew in VR in the Pitts special around Melbourne, and it may be a coincidence, but it was butter smooth, for the first time in years.
Obviously getting ready for 2024.
That water looks super nice.
Apparently that's all because of the new lighting technology! They didn't even touch the water haha. Goes to show just how important good and realistic lighting is!
Im really excited to see how this game turns out
I can see this being a subscription model for pricing like an MMO rather than a one time purchase. That would be my bet. Especially with all that chart info
Hopefully MSFS2024 will still be available to purchase and not going to be subscription only

@@burgadahz17 !!!!!!!
Wow, so many good things to look forward to.
Impressive! And rightfully so for the Granddaddy of all flight sims!
This is a quantum leap over what was already a quantum leap itself - MSFS2020.
When i heard that they were changing up the code for the new sim, i was very excited. Code and data isn't interesting, but the end product shows.
This is going to be so amazing. I might need to take all of December off.
This isn't merely a game.
This is a technological marvel.
Dude this is amazing news. I'm glad they're finally tackling actual flight operations such as these instead of just simply flying around. I've always wanted to do cargo operations and cropdusting in flight simulator.
Looks awesome!
Will we have LLM-agent based ATC? Or is that already a thing?
Wow. Seems like this was not a clickbait title!
This will make the sim a lot more accessible and appealing to casual simmers who don’t have the time or desire to dig deep into the really complex airliners.
It’s a really good move and will expand the user base heavily, I believe.
Very nice. I guess it is going on my wish list even if I hardly played the 2020 version.
Or Game Pass and try it out
As someone who flies study level airliners for VA’s on Vatsim and has spent a literal fortune on building a full A32X high fidelity home cockpit the speculation about 2024 definitely made me nervous, but after listening to Jorg and Seb at the Expo I’m now extremely excited for this release
So sea, wind, and cloth are all fully simulated. Did this just become the best potential sailing simulator on the market?
Microsoft should have an addon later, that makes space accessible! Out to say, the Moon. With an assortment of space planes or rockets to choose from!
Officially supported mutlicrew for coop flights would be a great addition, I really hope asobo will implement that one day! Has there been any conversations on that topic? I've been out of the loop for a while on MSFS. Great video as always!
They can have all the eye candy in the world, but if they don’t fix their flight dynamics, it’s gonna be another waste of time.
The flight dynamics are already great in MSFS and they are improving them in 2024. It's just up to the third party developers to take full advantage of them.
@@Tuskin38 The fact that Microsoft can put in the Halo Pelican or the Dune Ornithopter for people to fly around in makes me question just how good the flight dynamics actually are compared to how much is faked. It doesn't matter if they say they include CFD if they can easily turn it off to support fantasy craft so a person never knows just how much a plane is flying based on real physics versus what the designers _think_ the flight experience should be like.
Flight dynamics are poor
@@CAL1MBO Nope
@@Tsudico AFAIK the only default 2020 aircraft to use it are the C172 (g1000), the A310, the SR22 and the A320V2
But several third party aircraft have taken advantage of it, and they confirmed at FSExpo 2024 that every default aircraft in 2024 will use it plus all the other advances they've made in flight dynamics since 2020 launched.
Nice one and thanks for sharing. Do you know if proper Ray Tracing is going to be included?
I like that they said your 2020 purchases will be transfered over so it won't feel like wasted money
I’m ready for a virtual holiday
I'm sure I'll enjoy the visual enhancements, but it's the fluid dynamics that is the actual improvement.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thank you! 🍻
Every oil rig and every ship. I’m sure we’ll be reaching for the stars next in MSFS 2029.
I passed on FS 2020 but I will be pre-ordering FS2024!
I'll believe it when I see it. I'm really worried about a ton of bugs and also a lot of limitations they don't mention. Yes you can get out and do an external pre-flight checks but that might just be in pre-made missions.
Seriously excited about the S&R aspects of the sim. Flying a helo to rescue hikers off a mountainside or workers off a burning oil rig sounds really interesting and challenging. But I can't imagine how big this iteration of the sim is going to be. The amount of data and renders that will be required......boy, I'm wondering if a 1TB drive is going to be enough for all of that.
the thing I'm most interested in is the mission structure, i.e. is it a set of disconnected , static missions, that you pick like discovery flights or is it generated events on the map, ideally there should be some form of progression, randomness and not just here's the 2 oil rig missions, here's the 1 search and rescue mission
Well... im sold
its like i dont have to go outside anymore IRL
i just want progression through certification and a economy based career mode as part of the base game, i know there are 3rd party apps, but i think its time for Microsoft to realized the desire for this feature
Never played one of these games but it's certainly becoming more appealing
Waiting for mention of the ability to have a friend join you as co pilot.
This. I still jump on FSX occasionally just to fly with a friend.
shared cockpit is listed as post-launch feature on the wishlist.
@@Tuskin38 'wishlist' doesn't fill me with warm and fuzzies. Consider it. Planes are often flown by 2 pilots. So what does MS add to its new Flight Simulator? Boats...
@@Tuskin38Shared cockpit has been on 2020’s Wishlist too since before its launch. I know, since I put it there (and was subsequently deleted for being a duplicate). Until I see it on the patch notes, I won’t believe it.
@@andymarcelli2835 They have boats in 2020 as well
Plus the people making the boats are not the same people who would be programming shared cockpit.
im interested in the airline pilot feature. there used to be a sim called Airline Transport Pilot that simulated a pilot career with scores depending on your performance of airline flights. you would get graded in speed, altitude, approach, landing etc
The apparent focus on smaller planes only concerns me, I want a picture perfect 747 ffs.
Hacía muuucho que no me ilusionaba tanto un videojuego. Lo que nos va a traer la nueva entrega puede ser increíble. La espera se me va a hacer larguísima.
Holy crap! They nailed it
This looks good but also, too good I’m nervous.
I had hoped they were adding an actual career mode, especially with the ability to know get out of the plane and customize your character. I guess we'll have to see if they are just mission scenarios or a full career mode.
Nice summary, thanks!
As an actual instrument rated private pilot I have to say that MSFS2020 helped tremendously in my training but not without significant limitations.
I would love it if they devoted more energy to getting the avionics right and having more GA options. And have missions that mirror actual elements of the FAA ACS for private, inst, commercial. Maybe a mission that is an actual check ride with some randomization so that it is unpredictable like an actual check ride.
VR Support? Game Changer
I was sceptical about the need to release a new MSFS beforehand, but I think I get it. Provided, of course, that they deliver on what they have promised.
Any news about vr? Because i am very excited to see how all these new features will work in VR!
This is going to be awesome in VR
They gather real time position of ships! Holy! I don't have any expectations going in. Was expecting new graphics, more planes, that's it. After this though, I'm excited.
I have a small sailing boat with AIS. I will be able to find my boat sitting at anchor in the sim. Wow.
Hopefully they will be able to craft a product that incorporates the best aspects of a "game" with the core elements of a simulator. If it achieves this I will happy.
My computer caught fire just playing this video.
As real as it gets!
This blows my mind
They had me at VFR charts.
0:37 tablet! On a stock aircraft! I'd missed that previously @ObsidianAnt
Fun fact: AvAngel is one of the models they used for the characters (aka Firekitten here on youtube, AvAngel is her flight sim channel)
i reckon that in the future we will be seeing some sort of "world" simulator where you could also choose to operate boats/ships and cars. it would be amazing to take your TBM from Munich across the alps, then hop into your Porsche 911 and drive to Lake Garda where you can have a blast in your motor boat. This would be next level "alternate reality" simulation.
