Well, I am 74 and just got a keyboard to learn music. Never too late, right? After researching the best method to learn, this video got my admiration and gratitude. Thank you for the clarity and for the map you provide in order for me to learn!
Well, Guy, as I write this in April, 2022, I hope you are now great at piano and enjoying it thoroughly. I'm cheering for you and, at 79, I'm trying right along with you,.
I know you probably wont see this since it's an old video, but after 4 days of solid practice, 2 hours at least a day, I've gone from absolutely ZERO hand coordination, to playing Hands Together for the C scales at 114 bpm! I was amazed with myself bc I have no piano experience at all and going into my first day of Hands Together I thought I wouldnt even be able to do it at all. My confidence is WAY high and I'm super excited to continue my learning adventure! :) thank you for the advice!
Thanks for the encouragement! I just got my piano this week. I tried to learn a song (Hallelujah) all afternoon on Monday, enjoyed it, but haven’t gotten on it again-it’s Friday. I fell asleep during this video (I nap every pm), but will listen to it again and do everything he says. I’m 71.5.

This BestWay2LearnPiano.blogspot.com is one of the most popular online piano courses online and has helped over 250,000 students around the world achieve their dream of playing beautiful piano for over a decade.
Hi Zach, I am a 68 years old female. I once was a very good singer, and a piano student who regrettably, never practiced. Now I am a retired teacher and a wanna be musician. I am so glad I found your videos, and watch a few most nights, then try to put them into practice in the mornings. You are not only a gifted pianist, but a creative teacher. I was ashamed of wanting to go back to my passion for music at this late age. However, your encouragement has reassured and validated my effort, and your ability to impart and makes it easy for me to assimilate and feel creative. Thank you Zack Maritza 2/2023
I have paid for piano lessons for 3 years and I learned more practical techniques in this one hour that all of that time put together! Thank you for taking the time to show me not just what to do, but HOW o do it!!! GREAT video!
interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about best piano courses try 4LearnPianoEasy.blogspot.com Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got great results with it.
I would listen to Zach for hours because what he teaches WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for taking your time to teach those of us who want to learn. We appreciate you!!!
I never comment on anything...ever. But I just watched this entire video and then read the comments. I am AMAZED that anyone has the time, much less the lack of character, to post rude or condescending statements just because they can. Seems to be a trend in our society. Shame on people who actually take the time to do that. I REALLY appreciated the ENTIRE webinar. It was genuine and helpful. For those of us who are really in the early stages of learning, it was down-to-earth and practical and it is going to help me tremendously. Thank you, Mr. Evans.
And I'm AMAZED at how many of your astroturf this comment section at his insistence. I'm still not buying anything, and you're a fool for not only giving him your money but doing his advertising for him.
ikr... Like if you aren't a complete beginner you don't need the start, okay, but complete beginners really do need them. Just like the thump thing. Yeah sure if you have a teacher and he told you, you won't need that advice, and maybe you only profit from e.g. the rhythm technique and stuff. But why shit on stuff that might help others just because you already know a tiny bit lol.
I am an adult beginner. I am taking Zach's classes right now. He is well trained and talented. Sure, he rambles at times. I don't mind because I enjoy his joy and passion for music and teaching. There are many interesting online programs like flowkey and playground sessions, websites of piano teachers and their programs and videos here on youtube. Almost all of them have something I can learn from. They're all resources. I will age myself but this is exciting to me because it didn't exist when I tried to learn before. You had to try to learn from a piano teacher or books and cd's or dvd's.
Angie V I’m 39 and only started playing 6 months ago..I agree, there were not all these resources when I was young. My mom put me in piano lessons at 10, but it was completely different than this stuff we have today on UA-cam. I probably would’ve never learned how to play even like I play today. Thanks to all the people who take their time and effort to help others..
I consider myself a beginner, even though I started 27 years ago. My problem with pretty much everything is if I don't get it right away, get flustered and start beating myself up. So far, this is my 3rd day in a row of practicing. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you, sir
Keep it up. I’m just starting too. 4th day. I hear all of these beautiful songs and I wanna learn immediately, but an idea that has kept me from giving up is telling myself that every minute I’m on the piano, is a minute I’m getting better. Might not be by much, but it’s happening nonetheless.
@@hellenbak_1156 well I learned Minecraft Sweden (two hands) and megalovania (one hand) , just the beginning of it Sight ready is hard so I sit there for 1-3 minute(s) look at the digital sheet and notes on the piano trying to find the note, thinking i got it right, I play it, sounds weird, only to find out because the scale or piece is in E major scale, so yea... Learned some chords, though they are on white notes only, how about you, any songs you’ve been working on?
@@hellenbak_1156 oh just to add, sometimes I just look at video for hours, and not play it, but the knowledge is worth it, sometimes I just want to stop but I have to force myself as well, I’m starting to feel burned out, but I wont give up
I just wanted to thank you for the great lessons you give. I am 47 years old, yes I am. and I just started my first lessons in playing piano, I've never played any instrument in my whole life, but I am making a lot of progress. In just two lessons I started to play some melodies. I learned a lot from you too and you gave me a lot of ideas that makes it easier for me to practice. keep it going
*I am halfway through this webinar.* I stopped at 30:30 and will continue tomorrow. I can already do both hands at Day 1. Thank you so much for this! God bless you!
I for one, really appreciate the brilliance of this. I could barely keep up with a player piano using one finger. Now, I can play using both hands. I always figured I was just a righty, and couldn't use both hands at the same time. The thumb under method is awesome. Thank you for helping us.
I’m 71 I’m just learning to lol love your channel will keep watching your videos thanks so much for sharing with all of us , you are an amazing teacher.
hey zach i was always searching for beginner's technique to master scales, but couldn't find one, until i stumbled upon yours, i was so happy, i enjoy every bit of it and loved it. i have been playing piano for 13 yrs ... but the wrong way. your words really enlightened me.altho it was 55 mins , i felt like it was only 5 mins. thank you so much zach ! god bless!
At a very young age my brother, who is awesome on the piano, drilled into me, “Always, always finish playing with something you can play well!” I still do to this day - end on a positive. Great video for all.
Zach is an amazing piano teacher! I have improved SOOO MUCH applying his teachings. If you are truly dedicated to learning piano, you will listen to everything he has to say and take the time. It is well invested. Thank you for all the info you give us. And I will continue "happy practicing" ! :)
I bought a digital piano 6 days ago having always wanted to learn. Using the techniques in this video, I can now play my C Major scale on left and right hands at 215 bpm. 3 days ago I was maxing out at 165bpm. Playing hands together is somewhat more difficult, but I'm convinced I'll get there.
I practice my scales to keep my fingers limber and Break up inflammation. It's been 4 decades of boring... But my ability to play sheet music smoothly is better because of this habit. But Now Your Technics just added something Fun and Inspiring to my practices! ThankYou!!! I can't wait to sit down at the piano and accelerate my Lessons. Your enthusiasm is contagious! What a Wonderful coach you are.
This was a game changer. Perfect level of difficulty for beginners or, people like myself, who tried learning previously and gave up because my teacher "wasn't teaching me right" This was so very helpful and gave me a second wind to give piano another try. Thank you so much!
I'm sorry, had to make this abstract of techniques: 1. Tuck your thumb (finger 1) under and fast as soon as you use finger 2. When descending, as soon as you use finger 1, cross finger 4 or 3 (as required) OVER the thumb. Be careful, don't injure your hand :D 2. Rythms. Two relatively fast notes in a row followed by a "resting" slow note... then 3 in a row, maybe even 4?... periodically change which note you will play "slow", thus the different rythms. 3. Metronome ramp up: start as slow as necessary to do it perfectly. Register the tempo with the metronome. Once you got it, increase the tempo a bit and start again. I have to say that these techniques work like magic with anything, of course learning difficult passages of a piece too. Anyway, watch the video, it's wonderfully explained.
Zach you are the best and most friendly teacher people should understand you that something words aren't enough to explain process and music over time. You are best don't take stress.
Thanks Zach. My son instantly say yes cause you said so to use metronome and practice with rhythms. When I told him. He won't listen. You are my savior to discipline him.
I haven't played in 3 decades, but my grandson started so I thought I'd join him. I like your technique and your explanations. It's important to know the reason behind something if you want to do it well. I will be buying the book. It should speed up my return to mastering the keyboard once again.
I've been playing piano for more than a year now and I'm playing grade 5 trinity next year and I never practiced my scales, I have practiced my scales the past 2 months and I must say it is VERY benifitive!
Zach, I think you are thorough and detailed, and you need to be, I personally appreciate your explanation and the length it takes to portray the important stuff. You do not need to worry about those negative comments, you are doing great please do not change.
Hey Zach ! I don't mind listening to you explain the way things work. I feel like I'm getting to know you by listening to you so much ! When I listen to your videos I make sure I'm relaxed and under no pressure to get done. Anything in life does not come easy and takes time. Anything and everything in life comes with practice ! My Mom always told me as I was growing up "Practice Makes Perfect" ! And that goes with your work, exercising, your sport and everything else in life. The more you do something over and over again it eventually comes naturally ! You do it without thinking about I at all ! Most people don't accomplish stuff because they don't want to put the work and time in ! They want it now ! Lol ! And that's why they don't ever get it. If you want to excel in something then you have to take one thing and put your heart into it and you will be outstanding ! If I would have listened to my Mom 40 years ago ! Damn ! I'd be playing at Carnegie Hall for fun ! Lol ! I like your style !
I find your videos very helpful, the impatient people complaining about the time you took to explain things probably expect to learn piano overnight. Practice is important and takes time.
I wish I had found you long time ago. I would have save myself the agony of the old system which made me stop trying to learn. Thank you so much and more power to you.
I found some of your training material in an obscure location on my computer. Now that I have a keyboard, I am going to utilize the material. Hopefully, my learning curve will improve considerably. Thank goodness I found the file again. I have watched other youtube videos, but yours is the only one that explains what to do correctly. I am 75 year old retired Navy enlisted person. I enjoy almost all music and really want to learn to play for my own enjoyment. Thank you.
I started this training on 3/30/2020 from absolute zero. I'm on the 12th day and only skipped once with a 40 minute average training time. I already learned C and G major scales, I'm playing 2 octaves with both hands in 180 BPM. I will be back periodically to register my progress!
Today is 5/20/2020 and I already did 50 piano sessions. Now I can play C/G/D/A/E/C#/B/Gb Major Scales with both hands in 230BPM (two octaves). I learned to play Minuet in G with both hands and now I'm working on the memorization of Canon in D with the right hand.
@@SuperGalaxy5007 I started my training in an old keyboard I had (no weighted keys) and I was progressing very fast. After I bought a real piano (Casio PX-S3000) in July, I struggled to perform with the same velocity using the new weighted keys. Then I decided to focus on learning a song to motivate myself and I now I'm able to play Canon in D with both hands (Peter Plutax's youtube version). Unfortunately I had to use the time I had to train for work related stuff, I hope I will get back to training asap!
I got a keyboard on Christmas. I've been looking for a app to get and found this. So far it's great and gives me a strategy for my practice times. I appreciate that there is a good amount of info that is free. It gives me time to find out if I like his style enough to pay for the extras. Thank you so much for putting this together.
Love Zach’s instructions. I’m a first time player in my 60’s and I can totally understand what he is teaching. Was exactly what I was looking for. This may be long for some folks who can play but for a beginner he is awesome. I’m a singer learning to play an instrument other than a tambourine lol. I will definitely continue with Zach he’s awesome! Thanks Zach continue with your very helpful instructions!
I have been doing a variation on these techniques (I altered it, because I have been playing piano for 30 years) for a few months now, and I can honestly say that this WORKS. I did have my doubts at first for some reason, but doing different rhythm patterns CONSISTENTLY in scales will 100% help you get your scales faster. I just played C major (2 hands) faster and cleaner than I thought I ever could.
Anyone who invest his or her time to help an other for a better cause, needs to be praise. So, sir I Thank u for all of ur effort I, for sure, am gratefull
I start week 12 tomorrow, my family tell me my playing has improved heaps and I have amazed myself at the progress made by following Zach’s program and listening to all the videos, start to finish...and maybe again because I can. Best teacher ever and always replies to my questions on email. Thanks heaps Zach...but that metronome thingy...oh never mind, good thing I’m tough! lol 😁
Howdy, Zach. Here Toni. Never mind what people say against your video. I'd like to thank you for your kind advice and time to show us how to study. Sure you have to make money out of your knowledge and I like your practice routine. I will make minor changes to accomodate my work and time practice, but the routine is great. There are numerous scales to practice, major, minor, aug, dim., blues, pentatonic, 1 scale, 2 scales, 3 scales, mirror scales, triads, 7ths, 9ths, etc, etc. So, for $4 bucks I think it is well worth it. With some math done, I think I have a two-year scales practice routine program easy in my hands. Thanks again.
I started doing this, it's fun. I do it in my DAW Fl Studio and I automate the metronome tempo for 8 bars and then increase by 5 bpm. It's like a video game, it's fun. Also, I spin poi and I'm already applying the "breaking it down into small pieces, sleep repeat". I find it works for everything. Thanks!
Hi Zach, As I currently research the possibility to learn to play a specific song for my anniversary (has a special meaning for me and my wife), I came across your 2016 You Tube Video, and felt compelled to comment. Firstly, I found it so refreshing to hear your approach to learning the piano, and style you have adopted in explaining the separate phases, but ultimately, found your realistic and modern delivery of your content, and the obvious feeling I took away that your were not just trying monetize your teachings, but had a genuine interest to teach students to learn correctly, most most appealing. My younger son (5yrs old) plays a little piano, being taught by his mother, whom is a good piano player, but just not the right instructor for me, if you know what I mean 🙂 🙂. So for this special day, I would like to get things right for her and really put an effort to make this a great memory for her. Now, I am nearly 60yrs old and never played the piano, so I am pretty hesitant as to is this is a practical and realistic project for me using your program? The anniversary is September 2021 but, I do sometimes struggle with my short-term memory (following a UK Military Service injury), but as I focused on this webinar, muscle memory seems to be the main point, of which I am confident I can achieve, which the correct direction.
Oh my gosh!!!! I have been following your instructions from your website the last few days. I have been practicing the C scale together and part and then moved on to G and then F. After F Major scale something clicked and I suddenly learned the rest from your major scale sheet just like that. I am flabbergasted. It's in the fingers, the muscle memory you were talking about and listening over and over again and using the beat patterns (though little messed up at times still) and it is actually working for me.
I am as attention deficit as the come but I stuck it out and glad I did.If I waited 55 yrs to get the nards to learn the piano then I can wait 15 minutes to get to the meat of it. I learned a ton too!. Im a vocalist but a pretty bad guitar player. I figured that if my husband, a guitar efficionado and piano player (having been a career musician his entire life) won't teach me I'd probably never find anybody with the patience. Then I realized I had to try being patient first. WoW! It actually works! And thank you. I'm getting less horrific everyday!
Njdjninja, so how much have you progressed in 2 years? My wife is/was a musician, bass guitar, so she is the musically inclined one, but recently I've been thinking of learning how to play piano, on a good Roland or other keyboard. Unfortunately, I have no musical ability beyond enjoying music by listening to it and occasionally singing in my car (alone) to songs I know. If anyone heard me they would die laughing. But maybe I can learn to play and have fun with it.
This is a brilliant methodical approach to learning. Worth 5 Bucks for this video alone. Ive come back to the Piano as a relative beginner, after a year and tried out some of your exercises, which nail the all important correct fingers, timing and correctness/smoothness. I look forward to creating a practice schedule based on your ideas and look forward to receiving your e-book. Excellent work, thank you very much
"Don't practice more, practice better" reminds me of what my violin instructor taught us. "Practice does not make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect."
I think what people don't get is that this is a webinar! Not merely a how to video in 2 minutes. So there will be more info coming at ya. And I don't have a problem with Zach promoting his Ebook I think it's great! I bought it! If the information helps me employ a better practice routine and helps me to develop faster? Awesome. Knowledge is something I value very much. And if there are skills that I can acquire faster that's even better.
Going into lockdown I decided to get better with piano/keyboards. These have been so helpful it is difficult to even fully explain how helpful they are. Music theory was no problem.. muscle memory, on the other hand was a big problem. Scales are on the way, I am working my way into putting both hands together. 18 months ago, I was rapidly reaching the point where I was sure these things would never happen. Now, I am not so much worried.
This video is really useful! I used to play the piano when I was a kid, but then stopped for many years. Now I want to play it again, and my phobia of practising scales is still there. Had I watched this video when I was a kid, I probably would not have stopped playing the piano because of the pain of practising scales!
I absolutely love his videos! Zach is passionate about teaching others to play the piano, I personally, was so drawn to every word he said, I re-played a few moments! This video made me feel excited and motivated! Subscribed, will watch all the videos and definitely buy a book! Thank you, Zach!
For anyone griping about how much this guy likes to talk. Just be thankful he has an easy voice to listen to and doesn't have an accent or a lisp that's hard to understand. Every Piano teacher I've had are so boring when they talk I couldn't hang with them... I can hang with this guy just fine. :D
This video was extremely helpful. And yeah, the rambling at the beginning was a little boring for me, but I could see someone else getting helpful info from it. You have to really work to be good at piano, and sitting through a 55 minute video to get good will not kill you. It's a very good lesson and so many people could learn from it.
Every webinar on any subject , the first ten minutes or 20 minutes is introducing the guest, blab blab about what you are going to learn . Announcing the worldwide location of viewers . What else? Testing the slide projector . So I already to know to advance the video. Try ten minutes . If he his still introducing advance 15 minutes
Dear Zach: Really really thank you for putting out these videos. Enrolled as an elective class student for piaono at a community college. OMG! The prof. put me to sleep. There weren't any inspiration or motivation at all. So I dropped it. That was 30 years ago. Ater watching only two of your videos, i immediately placed an online order for a table piano. I intent to stick to your recommended routines And I will buy your special offer ebooks and video just as soon as my replacement CC arrives (was scammed by one online site for smth else.). I am very very excited and konw that a year from now, I shall be playing the piano like I've always wanted. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so so very much "-)).
This is the first time I’ve ever had someone tell me specifically how to practice. I feel like a lot of my frustrations with piano are going to disappear now! I’m definitely going to try out the other courses you have available. Thanks Zach!
Nice job! Your technique has piqued my interest. I've been practicing an hour a day for a week and got bored (and that was only on C Major). I listened all the way to the end. You make sense. Your book sounds like a good deal. I'm buying and subscribing. And please ignore the haters who have no life and their only source of joy is to rain on someone's parade. Trolls are losers. But back to you. I'm going to commit the next three months to mastering my scales, with your guidance. Your video sounds different and you come across legitimately interested in helping us, newbies. I agree with you. Scales are the fundamental part of piano mastery. Heading to your website now. Happy New Year and thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to put this video up. I, for one, really appreciate the pep talk that you give before showing the exercises. I'll buy the e-book when I get back from work later and I've taken the twelve week, scale a week challenge even though I know all twelve scales. I am going to nail scales and I love practising them, just needed pointers on how best to go about it. Thanks bud!
To everyone that's hating, you're not going to get anything done that way. Sure, he talks a lot, but if you listen, it's important. You want to be amazing at the piano, but you can't sit through a 55-minute video telling you exactly how to do it. You're immature and never going to get anywhere in music unless you sit down, swallow your pride, and listen to someone who is better than you are. I like this guy because he's in-depth and honest. His strategies are effective if you actually listen to what he says. Grow up, honestly.
Garrett Wood I absolutely agree with everything said in this comment. People wanna get better but they wanna whine about a 55 minute video. They need to shut up and listen to these amazing tips and strategies that are going to help them get better
People are hating because literally half of the video was him speaking about why you should watch this video. Sure he's great and all, but wasted time is wasted time. If you had a brain worth something you'd understand just what wasted time is and how precious it is. Have a good one.
As a music teacher myself, telling people WHY the information that you're giving as a qualified teacher is important. To a gifted and motivated student who honestly wants to learn, of course it's better to skip straight to the relevant information -- That's about 2% of your students though. Most people sincerely DO NOT understand why it would be important to approach learning so slowly, or that only practicing a few notes at a time for days actually leads to the most rapid results.
Carlos Castellanos really tho? Is that true? Honest question. And with more experience, should u still approach it slowly or speed up at a certain point?
I’m 35. I’m ok at guitar. Thought I’d try piano. Started ten days ago and thanks to this guys videos I’m by far past my expectations. Left hand needs some work but my goodness this is a beautiful instrument.
i love this man. I've done p90x twice now, my results have been excellent! applying that to piano is an incredible idea. the only thing is, you gotta bring it. you can't go halfway. thanks for the vid!
Thank you so much! I have been wondering what I was doing wrong. I am self taught and, like you, am aware of the importance of narrowing down the problem areas to just those few notes then its a matter of steady, repitious practicing of said notes. For YEARS I have been practicing every which way I could think of in an effort to rid my scales of that choppy sound I was getting everytime I came to the "thumb under" notes. It's so obvious...I don't know how I've never saw that!!! THANK YOU!!! This text doesn't really express the gratitude and respect I have for you and the time you took to really break it down. I am in complete awe. Not many people will understand why but u do....bcuz like u, I have that same mind set....I'm not going to get into it bcuz i know u know what I am talking about. You have actually taught me something about teaching myself something...that (for the first time) I didn't already know. I was really starting to become discouraged. Thanks for that.
Im 68y/o. I am GONNA learn this. PLEASE when showing keys go little slower. I cant keep up. But i WILL learn! These videos are a great way to learn, too. Didnt have this many years ago. I took piano lessons years back and all i remember is how to place my hands, now i can play short tunes since watching this, so thank you.
There is nothing woowoo about thinking that sleep cements your lessons. This is a scientifically established fact. One purpose of dreaming is to explore possible correlations. Also, while you sleep your subconscious determines which memories to cement into long-term. This is why sleeping between studying and testing is important. This is why problems often look different after you wake up. Structured practice sessions with sleep periods in between is sound advice.
Neither do i i don’t understand what the problem if that some people moan about the intro. It’s also usefull information. I’m grateful to have someone like Zach who explain clearly the Piano teaching and put all his effort and energy in it. I watched some other you tube clips with how to learn piano and i prefer Zachs piano clips. For those who don’t like this intro before, just skip the info.
You know, I've been a musician for more than 5 years now. Play guitar and bass and want to learn piano as well. But since I started in music, THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST ADVICE I'VE EVER BEEN GIVEN TO in music. "DISCIPLINE" IN PRACTICE. wow amazing! Thanks... buying the book👍👍😜
Hope y'all enjoyed the webinar. I know I ramble sometimes... but want to make sure you get all the information you need! Here's the link to the ebook + bonuses again: www.bestpianoclass.com/scalebonus
very good lesson. Subscribed channel, liked the video. I was practicing everything while watching your video and my metronome is at max bpm haha. i'm gonna buy your book :D
Personally, I appreciate the fact that it feels like you're speaking with the viewer. It makes it feel like I'm actually taking a class, and not just going on one of the many boring videos where the instructor cuts to the chase and that's it.
thanks so much for your help buddy. love the bit about slightly pushing out of the omfort zone but the n going back to safe tempos...makles a lot of logical sense. Great work and video. I salute you !
Ignore the whiners--apparently unaware of the FF button. You are a fabulous teacher, I've learned so much from you. I love the way you give us the big picture of various aspects and then systematically break them down to manageable parts. Thanks so much for the tip on the Sight Read site--what a find, and what a bargain! Love your enthusiasm.
Only a few who watch this will learn from it the rest will try and be funny or say something witty. Don’t be upset by this their skills may be more literary than musical. For those who are musical. My word this guy is very good.
the breakdowns of individual movements and small chunks at a time is extremely helpful. a lot of "beginner" tutorials kinda leave you hanging on technique
This is really great! Thank you. Could you please show us how to practice scales on the left hand? How should we move our left hand and which finger should hit each key... Thank you again!
our brain is capable of surprising us.. I used to practice and practice on moonlight sonata..put it away for awile.. huge improvement. after weeks away from it. sometimes I'll go outside do some woodwork. come back all clear I want thinking about it.. I'm retired electronic tech. was working on a German made grinding tube set. I it had no FM.. I made all the voltage test ECT. went to dentist appointment in the chair and realized that a voltage was wrong at the mixer tube. knew it had to be certain open resistor. voila fixed.. again brain solves problem. another thing about the brain is that it hears the individual notes of a chord. I was doing a song called Bourree in eminor. and realized I could hear the two notes in the diad.. and I thought duh that's obvious.. but think about the brains ability to har those notes and chords.
Perfect video. I started playing piano a month ago, been playing an hour a day or so since and this video is awesome. I really appreciate your attention to detail and have full confidence that this a great way for me to quickly evolve my piano skills in the right direction. 5 bucks for the book is a no brainer.
Thanks, Zach! I listened all the way through, printed out the free PDFs and am excited to get started tomorrow - ten minutes (or more if I'm in the zone) each day, per your suggestion. Your thorough and passionate teaching style is much appreciated. Exactly what I was hoping to find.
Oke I go infront this 2 days, long time ago 2018 I begin my first lesson in europe, and let the practice in 2019,now I meet zach on you tube in my 60 year what I can said your the best.👍🏽
So much passion! Very good rules to follow if you want to achieve good result. Remind me one of my teachers in University , he was explaining how to prepare yourself for exams, on of the rules was: don't forget to eat three times a day...
Well, I am 74 and just got a keyboard to learn music. Never too late, right? After researching the best method to learn, this video got my admiration and gratitude. Thank you for the clarity and for the map you provide in order for me to learn!
You are very brave Man! Respect 👏👍x
Can u help me play all kwesi
Right! I am 82 and loving my new journey on the piano 🎹 It's never too late.😊
Well, Guy, as I write this in April, 2022, I hope you are now great at piano and enjoying it thoroughly. I'm cheering for you and, at 79, I'm trying right along with you,.
This gives me hope
I know you probably wont see this since it's an old video, but after 4 days of solid practice, 2 hours at least a day, I've gone from absolutely ZERO hand coordination, to playing Hands Together for the C scales at 114 bpm! I was amazed with myself bc I have no piano experience at all and going into my first day of Hands Together I thought I wouldnt even be able to do it at all. My confidence is WAY high and I'm super excited to continue my learning adventure! :) thank you for the advice!
Thanks. My grandson (7) and I (69, Sunday) are learning.
PS: This is the first video I have ever saved. Don’t know if I know how to find a saved video. Lol

Thank you Zack

Thanks Maritza. It's never too late to start learning again! Keep up the great work and positive attitude. You got this! 🎹

Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got great results with it.
thank you so much! God bless you!
Evans.
Lol
And I'm AMAZED at how many of your astroturf this comment section at his insistence. I'm still not buying anything, and you're a fool for not only giving him your money but doing his advertising for him.

If you want to learn how to play piano like a pro then visit this website here: HootPiano.info
Disregard the negatives Zac....just concentrate on all your followers that appreciate every generous tip you share with us. Thank you,
I am an adult beginner. You had to try to learn from a piano teacher or books and cd's or dvd's.
don't stop won't stop, the world is full of resources now!!
Where did u start, i am having problems ascto the structure.......any hints would be appreciated..annette
@@hellenbak_1156 so how’s it been?
Now three days, learned chords tho still have to rely on wwhwwh thing,
@@xecute9455 Slow and steady. I find days where I just don’t feel it, but I have to keep myself motivated. Wbu bro?
@@hellenbak_1156 well I learned Minecraft Sweden (two hands) and megalovania (one hand) , just the beginning of it
Sight ready is hard so I sit there for 1-3 minute(s) look at the digital sheet and notes on the piano trying to find the note, thinking i got it right, I play it, sounds weird, only to find out because the scale or piece is in E major scale, so yea...
Learned some chords, though they are on white notes only, how about you, any songs you’ve been working on?
@@hellenbak_1156 oh just to add, sometimes I just look at video for hours, and not play it, but the knowledge is worth it, sometimes I just want to stop but I have to force myself as well, I’m starting to feel burned out, but I wont give up
I just bought again, worth it. Even though i had bought it and could not find link, i just bought again. $4.99 is a deal. All good. Thank you
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it
I just wanted to thank you for the great lessons you give.
I am a beginner at age 63. I truly appreciate this video. Thank you.
56 beginner
Strange enough i am also 63 and starting now.Let's see in a year how far we get in a year. Mr Evans is excellent
I’m 71 I’m just learning to lol love your channel will keep watching your videos thanks so much for sharing with all of us , you are an amazing teacher.
Tuthu Nguyen, and how is your piano progress coming along?
Beginning at 67
hey zach i was always searching for beginner's technique to master scales, but couldn't find one, until i stumbled upon yours, i was so happy, i enjoy every bit of it and loved it. i have been playing piano for 13 yrs ... but the wrong way. your words really enlightened me.altho it was 55 mins , i felt like it was only 5 mins. thank you so much zach ! god bless!
the one best teacher we meet .....god level teaching ..................must see..........................
Happy practicing indeed, glad you like it Christine!
The useful stuff begins at 15:27 for anyone interested in skipping through this guys talking....
VisGaming thanks for sharing.. was 10 mins in and gonna skip because of the waffling
thanks!
VisGaming you legend
I try haha
I was looking for this comment!! lol Thanks.
I'm sorry, had to make this abstract of techniques:
1. Tuck your thumb (finger 1) under and fast as soon as you use finger 2. When descending, as soon as you use finger 1, cross finger 4 or 3 (as required) OVER the thumb. Be careful, don't injure your hand :D
Indeed, perfect practice makes perfect, I think sums up a big point Zach made in the webinar.
Come back tell us the progress
Today is 5/20/2020 and I already did 50 piano sessions. Now I can play C/G/D/A/E/C#/B/Gb Major Scales with both hands in 230BPM (two octaves). I learned to play Minuet in G with both hands and now I'm working on the memorization of Canon in D with the right hand.
@@thiagolr how’s your training going? You really picked it up fast from your last update!
@@thiagolr do you think fast is the answer? Then you totally missing the whole point
Thanks, Patti! Glad you found the video helpful!! 🎹
My classical teacher used to say "Love every note". Great advice for both practice and performance.
pay attention. this guy is amazing if you are into learning cool methods for pop/rock/country
My wife plays piano. I play guitar. She started this routine last week and it is amazing how much better she sounds. It works!
As a beginner, I appreciate the time you took and the detail you went into to thoroughly explain how to practice scales. Thank you.
Anyone who invest his or her time to help an other for a better cause, needs to be praise.
So, sir I Thank u for all of ur effort
I, for sure, am gratefull
Thanks!

Hi Zach,
As I currently research the possibility to learn to play a specific song for my anniversary (has a special meaning for me and my wife), I came across your 2016 You Tube Video, and felt compelled to comment.
Dude enjoyed every second of this video...great approach, thanks for the time taken. Don't mind the haters...
Thank you Zac, for all you do! You are so generous!
Intro permits to perceive how much accurate and skilled You are in "pianoverse".. and a pedagogical and complete teacher. Thank You for all that!
I think "Practice makes Progress" puts you in a better position to help you become better.. There's no such thing as perfect.
He has put me on the right track for sure. I was stagnating in my practice but now I'm am really getting better every day.
Thanks. It's a help for interested people like me.I'm already 73,
Going into lockdown I decided to get better with piano/keyboards.
This webinar is GOLD!
Excited, appreciate too all the fine work you dedicate into your videos.
I've been waiting over a year to see you...Glad to have you back sensei.
Glad to be back!
I have been playing for about 6 months and I so appreciate your time and effort! Thank you so much!
Garrett Wood
I absolutely agree with everything said in this comment. People wanna get better but they wanna whine about a 55 minute video. They need to shut up and listen to these amazing tips and strategies that are going to help them get better
Here are the best beginner piano lessons online: HootPiano. info
You're an awesome teacher. Please ignore the haters, you cater for beginners. I'm an accordionist and I've gained so much from your teaching.

This is a wonderful lesson for beginners - I am sticking with you Zach.
Very useful info. Some folks are just super impatient. Good luck learning the piano with that kind of attitude.
Zach, you are awesome!!!!! I'm taking piano lessons @ 64. Thx for the continuous lessons and methods, this really does help with confidence.

Become a Piano Superhuman a
thank you! this vid is VERY HELPFUL
gosh I watched the whole video! thanks man
Personally, I appreciate the fact that it feels like you're speaking with the viewer. It makes it feel like I'm actually taking a class, and not just going on one of the many boring videos where the instructor cuts to the chase and that's it.
This is life saving!! I've not practiced for years because of university and this has put me in the right direction. Thank you 😊
thanks so much for your help buddy. love the bit about slightly pushing out of the omfort zone but the n going back to safe tempos...makles a lot of logical sense.
Bruh, you are a gem of a human being, you are spreading love and beauty helping create a better world through song. Thank you!
our brain is capable of surprising us..
This approach really works. Thanks so much.
Thanks, Zach! I listened all the way through, printed out the free PDFs and am excited to get started tomorrow - ten minutes (or more if I'm in the zone) each day, per your suggestion. Your thorough and passionate teaching style is much appreciated. Exactly what I was hoping to find.
Thank you for all your in depth information! Your are authentic and understanding.
Oke I go infront this 2 days, long time ago 2018 I begin my first lesson in europe, and let the practice in 2019,now I meet zach on you tube in my 60 year what I can said your the best.👍🏽
Seriously GTFO YOU TROLLS. Leave this guy alone, he's clearly a hard worker and is earnestly marketing himself. Respect.
So much passion!
Very good rules to follow if you want to achieve good result. Remind me one of my teachers in University , he was explaining how to prepare yourself for exams, on of the rules was: don't forget to eat three times a day...
