    One thing I forgot to mention is that if you are wondering what size gauge to get for your industrial if you haven't gotten one yet, I would personally go with the size 14 because that's the general size and most industrials are sold in that size. For more information on that, you will have to research that.
    Also, feel free to leave comments asking questions or giving your own advise on industials or piercings in general.

    I'm impressed that people still watch this old video. I mean, look at the date it was published. This was 3+ years ago xDD!
    Personally I find this annoying because of my annoying younger self lol, and it also has a few poor tips. But yeah if you have any concerns please keep up with the comments and I will always reply to the best of my ability as long as I'm still on UA-cam :D
    Cheers!

      +ink-shaman I just watched your video and I think it was cute :D. I've been thinking about getting one myself but I'm curios about how long did it get for you to heal compleatly? Did you have any problems with it, like infections or something??

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  8 років тому

      Nothing like that, just took some time to heal. Have patience and take good care of it but don't over take care of it. Mine took about almost exactly a year to heal.

    It's nice to see someone who actually knows about piercings. Most people I see on youtube aren't really knowledgeable and give just plain horrible advice.

    This video is extremely helpful. :) I wish I found this when I got mine done. When I got my industrial pierced, my piercer pierced it one side at a time, then put in 2 separate piercings for swelling purposes; then a week later I went back for him to put the bar through. My industrial has gotten infected a couple of times, it clears up kinda fast if you clean it at least 2 times a day. Normally they take over 6 months to a year to correctly heal. Putting in the wrong piercing can also screw up healing times, mine was almost healed then I attempted to put in a corkscrew bar that was too big and caused some scar tissue, but that goes down in like 8 months. :)

    Cleaning it more than three times a day is actually over cleaning it kinda killing the good bacteria..

    I've had quite the industrial piercing experience. I tried to get the straight barbell twice and my piercer told me recently I don't have the anatomy for one which is probably why keloids formed on both the bottom and the top bars. Five years later I got a v shaped industrial and it's healing really well this time

    I had the same thought process before I got mine done. I'm sure that if you had it for long enough, the holes would find it difficult to heal, but what I figured was that the holes are both located in a very inconspicuous place, so even if they don't close up, it would be difficult to see them, unless you went looking for them.
    If they do close up, I'm sure it would leave a scar, depending on how well you heal.

    I have had mine now for over 3 months, and I have found that it truly is very easy to get infected, and difficult to kick the infection. I would try cleaning it more than three times a day, especially the hole closest to your hair line. I also found that using a product like Neosporin, or any other antibacterial ointments, is very effective.

    I'm getting my industrial done tomorrow and I've been wanting one for a while but I'm so nervous. I've heard the healing process takes a while and you have to maintain and clean it do it can heal properly.

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  9 років тому

      It does take from 6 months to a year to fully heal and you do have to maintain the piercing to make sure it heals properly, but your piercer will instruct you on how to do so.

      ink-shaman so i just got mines done today. and the pain wasn't as bad but the first piercing near my hair hurt the most. they gave me a spray called saline is that ok instead of the h2ocean spray?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  9 років тому

      Well it is your piercers instructions but to be honest, H2Ocean isn't even that great. The best method to cleaning is the natural sea salt in a bowl of warm water.

      As a former piercing apprentice, it's not recommended. It's unnatural chemicals that, depending on your bodies personal healing process, can cause irritation to the skin around the piercing and the piercing itself and possible rejection.
      That's great that it works for you, but I will not recommend it to anyone.

  • @chiapets1234
    @chiapets1234 12 років тому

    When I got mine done I had him put rings in instead. That way it will heal faster and there will be less problems because there will be less stress on your ear. After two months I could change it out for a bar.

  • @MsNabi92
    @MsNabi92 11 років тому

    The healing time for the industrial is 6-12 months.
    The first time I got my industrial pierced it was a real pain in the ass for over a year, so I had to take it out, got it re-pierced a few years later though and it was all fine.
    But yeah, if you know that you might have to take it out if you get called out for firefighting then you should probably wait.
    So I would recommend keeping the first bar in for at least 6 months, so you know it's fully healed.

    In regards to drying and brushing hair, it should be fine to continue on with whatever you're already doing, just be cautious not to burn it or bump against it or tugging it. ^^
    So basically, just be very careful and try not to touch it.

    Hey I agree with what your talking with the h2ocean but I've been two many tattoo and piercing shops but all of them say not to boil or hear up water because bacteria love to hangout in warm and moist places but also for anyone that is wondering DO NOT MIX YOUR OWN SEA SALT SOLUTION. Go to cvs and get the store brand saline solution because it mixes its own exact amount of salt and water where my piercer says a grain too much or too less can have less effect of what your trying to achieve.

    An industrial piercing is not the same as a cartilage piercing. But you can put other types of jewelry in it if you wish, such as a hoop. But where it the holes are placed, it would be difficult to do a stud or anything else of the sort. I just suggest doing what I did and get both.

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  12 років тому

    It's good to wait another year to really consider it. I personally would wait another year or two, considering your young age. But it really is up to you and your parents. The age I think it's best to get it at is 18, because you don't need your parents consent. However, if they're okay with it, then whenever you believe you're ready to take on the commitment.

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    Everyone is different. It hurt a lot for me but honestly the pain is bearable. Bumping and tugging at it hurt a lot but only for a short amount of time. This piercing isn't for wimps that's for sure, but if you think you can dish it out it's completely worth it :D

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    When you first get any body piercing, the piercer purposely uses a larger bar to accommodate for any possible swelling. If I had gotten the perfect size bar, my ear would have engulfed the piercing during it's swelling phase and case some real problems. If you look at my recent videos, you'll notice that I recently purchased the perfect size bar because this was over a year ago and it is now perfectly healed ^^

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    Well it's very strange that your neck would be hurting in my opinion because a piercing is rejecting. I've never had any troubles with any of my lobe piercings but when a piercing rejects your body tries to push it out, if that makes sense. It also acts similar to an infection from what I understand.
    If you are experiencing any of these, I suggest you either go see a doctor, or more likely, take the piercing out, let it heal, then get it re-pierced.

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    Don't worry! That's supposed to happen. The crust is your bodies natural way of healing. Let it be. If you pick it off there is more of a chance of infection or rejection. No worries ^^

  • @inkzism

    Oh well thank you so much that means a lot~!
    The industrial piercing is very easily infected if you don't know how to care for it. Keep you're hair away from it, make sure it's clean, follow your piercers instructions CAREFULLY, don't sleep on it, touch it, etc. And if it does get infected, it's not hard to battle it. Just follow the salt-water bowl steps I explained in this video as soon as you suspect an infection.
    But after it's healed, you can do whatever with it and it's very worth it. ^^

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    Well let me just say that it's going to hurt. But if you want it enough that shouldn't matter. The pain wont kill you :3
    As for preparations, none are necessary to avoid infections or keloids. The piercer is supposed to provide a safe and hygienic environment for you so that you can heal properly.
    Good luck!

    Just a few more questions:
    Do you have to constantly clean it forever or only when it's healing?
    How long did it take for yours to heal?
    Is it worth it?
    I'm only 13, should I wait longer?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  9 років тому +2

      Blukendi Question #1: Only when it's healing will you need to clean it. Healed means it's not an open wound anymore, and so it wouldn't need cleaning to prevent infections.
      Question #2: It took mine about a year honestly for it to heal. I thought at first it was rejecting and that I needed to take it out and start all over. But one day I woke up and had no problems with it and it was the greatest moment of my life.
      Question #3: Totally worth it.
      Question #4: As a former apprentice and what I've learned through piercings, I would definitely say wait. There's a reason why there's an age restriction on piercings, at a younger age there is a higher risk of rejection or infection. I would only say it would be okay IF you can find an awesome, clean piercing shop that would allow you to be pierced at the age of 13 (even with a parent some wont let you because they know the risks of piercing a younger person), and if you're parent gives the okay and is willing to go with you to get it pierced. Honestly, it's just easier in most cases to wait the 5 years until you're 18 and go yourself, but if you can pull it off with all those factors and you think you can be responsible enough to take on such a large responsibility, than I say go for it. :D

    I would not advise a 13 year old to get this piercing. It's more of a pinching pain, and it's highly uncomfortable, but the worse part is the overall care. I would wait until an older age to get it so you have some time to think it over to make sure you're willing to put forth the commitment.
    But on a pain scale of 1-10, I would give it a 6 or 7 (10 being someone doing an intensive surgery while I was still awake) it's definitely not a pleasant experience. Was the most piercing I've ever gotten

    Dying your hair when you have an industrial isn't too bad. After I had my industrial for a month or so, I bleached my hair white around the area. As long as you avoid the piercing with any bleach or dye, it should be perfectly fine.
    Also, when it comes to showers, you want to be very careful at first because hair will get caught in the piercing and hurt like a bitch. Otherwise, wash your hair normally.
    And as for peoples reaction, they normally love it and I receive many complements for it ^^

  • @dankon2

    If you're having problems with your industrial don't go to your piercer, go to a dermatologist. Of course, if you can. There is soooooo much misinformation out there with no backing, like using Dial soap. Getting an industrial is like adopting a puppy. It takes work and dedication. Truth.

    Never use anything with rubbing alcohol or peroxide in it, causes scare tissue, and dries out the skin too much. Should always use a natural sea salt and warm water solution to clean your piercings. Also, antibacterial soap and warm water works as a second best. OR Epson salts and warm water til dissolved.

    G'day great vid I'm keen to get an industrial cause a little arrow or squiggly lines would look fully sick . I was wondering how long you have to keep the first bar in for? can you take it out for like 4-5 hours? The problem I have as a volunteer fire fighter I cant wear it when we get a call out ( won't be comfortable with a helmet on anyway) which could be at anytime.. how long does it take to fully heal, dont reckon it would like ash and stuff in it. lol

    I have 4 questions, Did you ever clean your piercing in the shower? If so how. How many months did it take before you could take your piercing out and it didn't close up?. How many times a day did you clean it .? My last question is what are some problems that you had and how did you deal with it or treat it?

      I personally didn't clean my piercing in the shower, I would just wash my hair as normal and I figured that would also clean my ears as well. You just have to make sure your ears are rinsed of everything before you're done just in case you got shampoo or something on them :3
      I waited until my piercing was fully healed before I took it out for any period of time, which took me about a year. That way I knew it wouldn't close up on me.
      I cleaned it 3-4 times a day when I first got it done and at least once a day after I had gotten to the 6 month mark.
      I did have an infection at one point, and that's when I started doing the once-a-day salt water soaks. I was even worried that it was rejecting at one point because it was infected for so long but I stuck it out and it eventually healed. :3
      If you have any other questions, or if I wasn't quite clear, please don't hesitate to let me know :D

      ink-shaman Thanks and also I know in the video you mention you were a wild sleeper. I am too would you have any problems as far as the bar coming loose or when you wake up in the morning your ear would be hurting?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  10 років тому

      Nah nothing like that. My piercer screwed on the balls extremely tight so I never had to worry about them coming loose. But if you're worried, just check on the balls when you wake up to see if they're still alright. And it never really hurt. You kinda learn to keep off of it when you first get it because it'll sting before it's fully healed. Sleeping really wasn't a big problem for me ^^

    mine hurt but only because it burns, it feels very hot, only because when you get a piercing your body tried to reject the jewelry due to the fact it believes it is an infection

    I was 14 when I first got mine done, It doesn't hurt that much but it feels like forever for the needle to go through lol. Mine did get infected pretty badly and I had a big bump on both tips but they eventually went away. I mean I don't think age really matters. :)

    Okay, btw I'm a fan of your videos ^_^ uhm I had some questions about the industrial piercing, I really want to get one because I just they look nice and I might get it this weekend, only thing stopping me is that I've heard that it gets infected fast, and I'm really scared on that, and most of other youtubers that made their comments of the piercing it's like "DON'T GET IT" ..which makes me wonder about it, idk I just need help I guess of whether or not to get it. Help please >.

    ... That's very bad, I don't even know how you don't have an infection right now. Please be very careful, and get something to clean it soon. I really do suggest salt because you can't go wrong and it's natural. (cept don't use iodized, but yeh)

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    No, leave the sea salt there. That way it can do it's disinfecting job ^^

    i have mine and i use hoops sometimes ive had mine for around 4 months id recomend not to cuz its heavy on your ear and will make it swell allot and hurt. but it take 6-8 weeks to heal sometimes a little longer but at 6 weeks you can change the bar.:)

    And make sure you get all of your Shampoo out of your piercing, and use H2o if you don't feel like doing hot salt baths UNLESS your ears infected then use the salt water.

    Oh my gosh I don't know why I wasn't alerted to this comment x.x!
    Sorry youtube is glitching out or something.
    Anyways, That's probably not safe. I mean, you probably know the answer by now, but you should have a straight, larger bar when it's first pierced so that it can accommodate swelling.
    I'm so sorry I answered this so late, I didn't know it was here x.x!
    I hope all is well!!

    I got my ears pierced for Christmas last year and I'm getting the industrial bar this summer for my birthday. This video was a lot of help, thank you and does it hurt as much as people say it does and can they put numbing stuff on it?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  9 років тому

      LENA .33 You're going to have to ask your piercer about the numbing stuff, some will but most likely they wont to avoid any complications. Either way it doesn't hurt that bad it's just a piercing. If it does hurt it only hurts for a short instant. Then it's a soreness.

    i was just wondering if you were able to go to the gym after you got it done, and also how long yours took to heal?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  10 років тому +1

      Yeah I was in a matter of speaking. I never really went to the gym much in those days but I did work out at home. So it's fine, just be mindful of it and don't bump it anywhere. Mine took about a year to fully heal.

    I am a hockey player and I want my industrial bar done so badly. How long before I can wear a hockey helmet?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  10 років тому

      I would wait until it is completely healed to ensure there would be no infections. So realistically speaking you'd be looking at 6 months to a year (it took about a year for me).Hope this helped, sorry if it wasn't the answer you were looking for Dx

    I got mine done about 3 weeks ago. My piercer was amazing I probably annoyed her and the other piercer so much with all my questions. Sea salt is good but I definitely recommend using gold dial soap and warm water and clean your ear 2-3 times a day but no more than that. about 2 days ago I called my piercer because my ear was itching. I was told to clean it every single time there are crusties on it. I just started sleeping on it last night and it still hurts a little. I rotated my industrial a little while cleaning but not on purpose. its just long and moves itself. I don't think its that's big of a deal I see no complications other than today I noticed a tiny little keloid or the little bubbles. and one last thing, don't ever ever ever pull the crusties off, always wash them of. That's been my experience so far, please reply if u know what to do about my little bump?

    • @inkzism
      @inkzism  10 років тому

      See that's why you're not supposed to move it much. Also I wouldn't trust dial soap that much with that sort of thing. Some people say it's okay, but it's chemicals and stuff and really not the natural way to go about it. With my method of the sea salt I ended up with no bumps or keloids. So I wouldn't know what to do with them if you got them. But I'm certain that you're piercers would know what to do in that case :D

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    As hot as you can stand it. But be careful! Don't burn your skin, then you'll have a whole new list of things to worry about.

  • @inkzism
    @inkzism  11 років тому

    NOOOOOO, Don't do that Dx
    Don't touch it you'll make it infected and cause healing problems.
    In fact, it sounds to me your piercing might be rejecting. If I were you I'd go back to your piercer as soon as possible and get a professional opinion. If it is rejecting, you may need to take it out, let it heal, and then start over.
