No, The barium nitrate is the main oxidizer in the formula. The only thing i would change would be getting rid of the dextrin and binding with nitrocellulose lacquer instead. I've had strobe formulas start to react with the magnalium when I tried to bind with water and dextrin. When your strobe stars start to smell like ammonia get rid of them... They can start self igniting.
