    When ever you give a presentation like this it’s a good to repeat the question back to the audience so that all in the audience and on the recording can hear and understand the questions. Or as another comment have a mic for the questioner.

    Thank you! We have similar setup, one soundguy to tackle live and live stream via one mixer (Allen Heath).
    Our church venue is school auditorium hall. What I noticed is the livestream version (I am listening to UA-cam to check) is very sensitive or picks up the reverb/ delay effects a lot compared to what I hear live, especially for vocals. That’s why my reverb fader is very low, it’s like -35db. Anything more is too much in livestream. That’s the weird part because I still want to get more to fill the live venue but then the livestream suffers. I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

    I really hope you guys had an accidental polarity invert somewhere in down the line when recording the console outs for this recording, because otherwise, the phase issues this mix faces are severely audible. I ran this video through a goniometer out of curiosity, and sure enough the mix is very clearly in the red for poor phase.

    Hello Churchfront, so I'm mixing from front house with an analog mixer, and I'm using AUX for broadcasting in a separate room, so my question is, how do I set levels from foh for AUX broadcasting output audio, is there a certain level I should set the master sending to the broadcasting AUX.

    Personally found the parallel compression idea useful for drums. I do it all the time in my daw, but not for our live stream. It might help dial in a better drum sound. I've also found gating to be hit or miss with drums, with pumping that is sometimes created. Though I wouldn't be able to do a completely dry drum mix since there is compression on each of those channels as well. I believe he could get a better mix out of the X32. Personally, I found the bass drum not deep enough and the bg vocals too loud, and the eg/keys could be higher in the mix. I would also hard brick limit the live stream since that's going to happen anyway with the streaming platforms. You do lose some control with this method of matrix mixing vs. doing it on the individual channels with pre-fader aux sends.

    This is an older video now, but would you advise against mono buses vs stereo buses? Our FOH is primarily mono with stereo side fills, so panning is light if at all. Or does that spacial differentiation make that much of an effect?

    Nice tutorial I enjoy watching it. How ever I notice he didn't explain about loudness. Where is the limiter at? Your mix on this video translate very nice thru headphones and in my speakers in the truck. And believe it or not The X32 mix sounds better than the one on the DAW. Also he never explain about how he did the FX on the bus. I figured it out by looking on your bus mix . He said he would explain and he never did. 😃 I realize this was a basic tutorial for people that want to learn but if you miss important information like the limiter on the matrix instead of a stereo enhancer people will be confuse and will ask : Why my mix is not loud enough online? Why do I clip the input of the stream software ? I have no control etc.

    The DAW mix is a great way to go, probably the best way to go but what about faders? Please do some kind of a video explaining how to do it where you have fader control just like a mixing console.
    I would love to do a broadcast mix in a DAW, but I need to be able to access faders with either faders or an iPad control like a mixer. So please make a video explaining how you do the fader so that we can do delay throws and listen and respond to the music just like a live mix

      You can buy a two channel audio interface, so you could send stereo or mono mix from the console to the interface and then connect it to the computer
      It will depend on how the console works with the outs sends but that is how a basic broadcasting could work
      My english is not too good, please sorry for that

    Why not use subgroups for some those buses? I guess these younger guys that didn't start until digital consoles don't know what a sub group is.

    • @adam_churchfront
      @adam_churchfront 3 роки тому +4

      on the X32, busses are groups that audio pass through and are affected by - there's an ability to put bus compression and other processing on busses. a DCA is a subgroup that is like a giant group volume that virtually turns up or down all channels at the same time in a relative manner. The busses also can be routed to a matrix where as I don't believe DCAs can be routed in that way. I'm old enough that I cut my teeth on an Allen and Heath GL2400 with outboard compressors and time-based FX units ;)

    • @durwoodhibbard9312
      @durwoodhibbard9312 2 роки тому

      I believe the reason is they may not realize that it is possible on that board. I have mine set up with the submixes, but I also have a dedicated board for mixing the broadcast separate from the FOH.
      For clarification to Adam, on the X32 the submixes are not the DCA's. Instead of setting the buses to pre or post fade you set them as submixes.

    • @noelbulls8628
      @noelbulls8628 Рік тому

      @@adam_churchfront A DCA is not a subgroup. A DCA is a remote control to a fader. Not to be confuse. On a mix bus you can control the amount you want to send to it. On a subgroup you can't do that. And yes on the x 32 you can make a mixbus a subgroup.
